  2. Lastly, was the base coat of black on the instrument panel. Will drybrush the dial details once the black has fully set up.
  3. Next was the yoke which receive a coat of paint on it.
  4. Moving on so as to give the glue some extra time to make sure that it is fully set up I started on some of the detail work on the cockpit. The first thing was to add a wash to deepen and detail the aft bulkhead.
  5. Having to split this update up as trying post the entire thing as a single post seems to keep ending with an error message. So after that I was able to get both barrels on. While not perfect they are still not bad in terms of alignment and look significantly better then the kit's plastic one.
  6. Been a bit since the last update, was out of town working on the new house. So after getting back I decided as a easy way of getting back into the flow of this project I decided to start work on the lower turret. So I clipped the plastic barrels and set to work attaching the replacement metal ones. Unfortunately I ran into a bit of an unexpected problem, my CA glue had gone bad. Even using accelerator did nothing to get it to set up. Thankfully I did have a small tube of glue that was still good. Lesson for the day, only buy the smallest tube of CA glue you can get as

  8. F4H-1 Redux.. I have not been able to locate any reasonably decent 3 views of the McD/Stanley seat. However, I do have blueprints for AMI's F4H-1 offering. While there are obvious differences, there are several constants. the first is the catapult support. It measures 51.57" tall. The internal gun "rail" supports measures 4.17" X 14.4". The seat at maximum width is 20 1/4". I know this is annoying to switch between decimal and fraction, but that's what's on the blueprint. The headbox is 14 3/8" and head pad area is 10" wide. The widest point on the McD/Stanley seat is
  9. I don't know about colors, but you realize that you won't be able to see the crew when your model is finished, right?😊🤔

Hard to see, but the Blackdog exhausts fill the hole in nicely.
  11. It's the ResKit set, but detailed with some wire, ANYZ connectors and plastic card. To be honest, the ResKit set was a disappointment. It's way simpler than the real thing and lacks even some of the more obvious morphology that Academy managed to mould. There are quite striking 3D print lines. The worst aspect is it's not engineered to fit the kit at all - the rotor mast is a lovely casting that fits to absolutely nothing. They replicated the actuating arms with very poor PE - I replaced the more obvious ones with brass tube. My efforts are still very poor compared to
  12. Thanks Andy, it works so far, let’s see what the end result will be. for sure I need to fill up inside the two engine bays otherwise it’s a see-through.
  13. Great build - I'd love to get my hands on that kit. Like Scott said - I can't believe Academy hasn't re-released it.

  15. I am in need of three (3) clear gunsights, part #50 off the clear sprue for the Monogram/Revell 1/48 A-1 Skyraider. Yep, I need three of these! I inherited a box of kits that had the parts loose in the box. When I did an inventory, I found that I was missing all the gunsights! I'm thinking the previous owner removed the canopy parts and tossed the sprue without knowing the gunsights were still attached. I'm willing to purchase if you have any of these in your parts box. Thanks for looking. Don
  16. Unable to give answer but am going to follow the topic so as to see what answers come.
  17. I'm building a B-1 and going to put crew inside; I'm wondering if B-1 pilots wear a G-suit? Also, can/do different crew members wear a green and tan coveralls at the same time?
  18. Holy cow Drew, phantastic start, that cockpit looks awesome !! Steve
  19. This is freaking awesome! I absolutely love how you’ve repurposed the older resin cockpit tubs. Now I don’t feel the need to offload any of mine and may want to get some more since they cost less!
  20. That is going to look grand after painting. While aftermarket parts are a most welcome thing to have available, there remains a lot of satisfaction, even fulfillment, in scratchbuilding parts.
  21. Hi guys, I’m back with my next project, Zoukei Mura’s 1/48 F-4E. I bought it late last year with the intention of using Hypersonic’s late F-4E conversion set. Then a couple of months ago, ZM announced a late F-4E kit shortly after I purchased the Hypersonic conversion! Regardless, I’m moving ahead with the early version ZM kit since the Hypersonic conversion looks like a pretty nice kit. I’m also using the below detail and decal sets: A few years ago, I picked up Speed Hunter Graphic’s USAF Gunfighter’s F-4E decal set and decided on the markings for a New Jersey AN
  22. Hello, This is my first Topic on this fantastic Forum! As many others I am obsessed with F-14 and, especially VF-213 Blacklions. My plan is to assemble as many of these aircraft as possible. Currently, I am concentrating on F-14D AJ200 from 2005-2006 in 1/72 scale. I understood that Hasegawa "VF-213 Blacklions Last Cruise" decals cover the subject (colorful Lion from AJ213 and all the rest is from AJ201) except the "Rescue" arrows, which on the AJ200 were blue, while on others planes were yellow. https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/5721004 I haven't seen decals for this particu
  23. You're braver than me, as I hate PE. I've just never had the skill to deal with it. But those grills will add a really nice depth once everything is finished!👍 Andy
