  3. I checked the 1/72 section of AMP masks. Alas, no dice. The owner could maybe could be persuaded to do them. He did the 1/48 Norm 83 camo for my F-104G. Can’t hurt to try. Rick L.
  4. Hi all. I’m looking to buy either Speed Hunter or Caracal SC ANG F-16 Blk 52 decals. Partial sheet is fine. No stencils is fine. Looking for the Haveglass scheme. Thanks for looking!
  5. So, got the kit today. I'm going with the Kinetic block 25/42 kit as it was the only one Spruebrothers had in stock. I'm hoping to get started on it this weekend. I'm going to go mostly box stock, but with the addition of the quinta cockpit set.
  6. I'd like to find a Revell F-89C, the hobby craft F-94A and B. would like to trade, have lots of 1/48 aircraft and 1/35 vehicles. thanks Mike in Ohio
  7. The Reedoak stuff is awesome. Perfect replica. Gloria models now has both USN and USAF chocks that are excellent. Eduard makes both USN and USAF (AF ones I have came in F-16 wheels sets). *correction* Aires Wheeliant line has USN hard bar and rope versions. I know there’s a few other USN and USAF sets out there. Just can’t remember who. if Dave is doing them, they’ll be excellent!
  8. Yes, the Marines used TF-9J as fast FAC in Nam. Probably not many, but they were there! (1/72 scale Sword kit.)

  10. Didn't the Cougar fly in Viet Nam? And to your point, I seem to recall a story about an F-102 getting shot down by a MiG, if that isn't flying in combat, I don't know what was. As to the 101, how about the RF-101? The only Century series bird that didn't flying in Viet Nam was the 106. Although it only deployed overseas once to Osan AB during the Pueblo capture/crisis. The F-86A offering looks very nice, but I would love to see the 86H in 1/48. Bryan
  11. Some where I have an old Cutting Edge 4B conversion... I'm not sure how many folks realize how "colorful' the liners of an F-4 engine is. Shot inside the hanger was an F-4D from the DC ANG, show with the Smily Face was a VMFA-321 bird. I think it would be a riot if someone did this for a competition bird. You can only wonder what the judge would be thinking when he sticks his nose and flashlight into the nether regions of the Phantom.... The colors appear to vary between FS 34183 and FS 14223. To a Blue Grey on other AC. I think the material is a cerami
  12. I have this sheet - did You have any other Tomcat decals for trade??
  13. We used the breakaway copper safety wire to secure the doors in the 58's. Every time I went into a "display" I would unplug the battery. I got into a 58 at display at an A&P program, and someone had pulled every single circuit breaker on the overhead panel. And they were only guaranteed for around 2 cycles.... Turn you back to hit the head and all heck breaks loose. From then on, I left the doors on. Bryan
  14. Thanks, it's nice to finally make some time to get back on the bench. As luck would have it, this build will get changed to another squadrons markings, or set aside while I break out another kit. Got a request from MAG-31 yesterday to build a Hornet for their CO's change of command on 28 June!
  15. In my opinion, open gun bay is so prominent that I find it odd to forgo this main feature. Dai
  16. Not odd: open slats; open speed brakes; separate control surfaces. Where to end? The aftermarket will do something I'm sure. I'm not a fan of open gun bays since they aren't ubiquitous. Open canopy, speed brakes or dropped flaps more so.
  17. Yes, the switch to blow the canopy side panels had a thin copper color safety wire to keep the crew from accidental activation of the system. This would get replaced by safety wire for static display appearances so some inquisitive child setting in a cockpit couldn’t accidentally engage the switch and blow the canopy side windows. Also we would at times disconnect the aircraft battery. Steve Sliger Greenwell Springs, LA
  18. Here are some more views of the new Clear Prop 48th scale F-86A. Nice details visible and another view of those transparent parts. Best regards Gabor
  19. I've built the Collectaire kit and have a second one somewhere in the stash but would buy one or two injection F-86H kits in a heartbeat if they ever came out with one. That's one of those kits that ranks right up there with a new injection molded F11 Tiger in 1/48.
  20. Sabrejet, I find closed gun bays to be quite odd. Can you chime in? Dai
  21. I would have been happy to go with the original plastic exhaust. Actually if comparing the Meng and the Zukei-Mura kits, there just one thing that I like in the Meng kit and that is the exhaust! They are made of several parts and so the internal details of the petals is provided, while that in the Z-M kit is fairly plain unfortunately. On other counts in my opinion the Z-M kit wins. Will see what to use. I do have several set of those stunning 3D printed gear legs. Will look at using it. Best regards Gabor
  22. Would love to see some. WI ANG markings... They went from the A to the H in the early 1950s
  23. I haven't tried assembling the slats, but the wing leading edges (without slats) are separate parts, so adjustment of any gaps shouldn't be difficult. I'd imagine that if you leave out the wing leading edge part and glue the slats directly to the wing, you'd get a pretty decent 'slats closed' config. The kit allows for lots of options without much hassle. The gun blast panels are another example of intelligent design: there is a backing piece (inserted from inside the fuselage) which forms the inner part of the 'open muzzle' version, with the blast panels then attached externally.
  24. Thanks a lot for the clarifications. I think i have a PE part somewhere that resembles the two pane. Otherwise ill have to scratch-build this somehow, in 1/72 it would be challenging
