  1. LF the Weapons School markings from the recent Revell AG reissue (kit 04900) with the "WA" tail code and yellow/black checkered fin flash. Thanks! Jonah
  2. Is there any aftermarket out there for this kit? Thanks Jonah
  3. I plucked a bristle out of a 2" paint brush before I used it to paint parts of the house; I colored it with a silver paint pen, but it could have been left black if that was appropriate for the model. Best part is that it can take some punishment without bending out of shape or snapping off. Jonah
  4. Test units would be cool; I think the 77 WPS would be a great subject too! Looking forward to this one! Jonah
  5. I'm looking forward to seeing what Paul & the rest of the aftermarket have in store for the -135 family. I would love to build an Open Skies jet. Jonah
  6. My point was more to the fact that your initial response didn't contribute to answering the question asked, but sidetracked the conversation in a direction irrelevant to the topic, to no one's benefit that I can see. Regardless, Slobodan, post some pictures of your model when you can! Jonah
  7. From Return With Honor, by Scott O'Grady: "...the weapons we'd be hauling that day, stationed under the wings and body of our aircraft: two air-to-air missiles and two laser-guided bombs at our underwing pylons; two more air-to-air missiles on our wingtips; a 20-mm Gatling gun mounted in the fuselage; and an electronics countermeasures pod, fixed to each plane's belly..." (p. 10). A couple of other observations: - he was the wingman, not the flight lead that day, so he wasn't the tactical decision maker for the formation. Theoretically, the flight lead could have just as easily been the on
  8. What markings will you be using? Jonah
  9. It is normally open to the public via the Bossier (North) gate. www.barksdaleglobalpowermuseum.com Jonah
  10. That is 0016, a ground trainer for weapons loading. Last I heard, the Ghost Rider (1007) will be repainted at Tinker as it goes through depot-level refurb. Those weapons south of the stab on the other jet look like the JASSM trainers. Jonah
  11. I'm sure if the AF could have its way, it would field the F-35 and keep the A-10. It's a zero sum game though, which is why there has also been talk of retiring the U-2, KC-10, and/or B-1B. The most significant cost savings come from eliminating an entire system and the logistics train behind it, rather than mothballing handfuls of various airplanes/systems here and there. By the way, as someone who was in the audience for the general's discussion, I can tell you there is quite a bit of context missing from what was selectively reported. In my opinion, he articulated the AF's reasoning beh
  12. Very similar, but not identical nacelles between the F & G according to the Squadron book; photos & drawings show a small accessory fairing on the left side of the engines (1,3,5, & 7) above the alternator housing that's not present on the G. Best starting point is to either get the engines from AMT/Italeri's B-52G, or find the B-52G conversion set from Flightpath/DB Conversions. That will get you the air intakes on the lower intake lip and the alternator housing that you mentioned. The 2 published sources I checked don't show the 7 BW as having flown the C; as you mentioned the
  13. -The Flightpath/DB Conversions engines look to me like the right size in the box, but the assumption is that the Monogram B-52D engines are correctly sized as a starting point, since they are used as a base for the conversion. -In my opinion, a nice model can be made from the AMT/Italeri kits; many of the shortcomings can be mitigated with aftermarket. Given the choice, I'd use an Italeri boxing; it seemed to me that their plastic was easier to work with than AMT's soft plastic. Here's the one I built about 5 years ago: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=197267&st=
  14. Additional story & photos here: http://www.barksdale.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123439607 I like that the first crew chief for that jet when it was new was able to be at D-M for the departure. Jonah
  15. Those look nice, will definitely get 72-081. Here's the story from when the B-52 was named Red Gremlin II: http://www.afgsc.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123371711 Jonah
  16. I've known at least 10 USAF CSOs that have applied to and been selected for pilot training after they'd been CSOs for 2-3 years. Most of them have done very well at UPT coming from the CSO background. Not all the CSOs that apply get picked up of course; the ones with the best shot are the ones that focus on being the best CSOs they can be. Just another option, but certainly no guarantees. Jonah
  17. Got my MCW ALF colors in the mail; I've got plenty of airbrush experience with enamels & acrylics, but my only experience with lacquers is Testors Metalizer. Is there anything about applying this paint that I need to watch out for? Do you normally clear coat over this paint, and if so, with what? Thanks! Jonah
  18. Found this video while browsing for reference material for my Lindberg Dodge Charger build: I found it very interesting, and was surprised at the extent to which the car is disassembled to facilitate installation of all the police/emergency gear. Enjoy Jonah
  19. Those look nice; glad to see another 1/144 sheet! Jonah
  20. Does anyone have a spare push bumper (parts 213-217, 223) they're willing to part with? Happy to pay postage to Louisiana, thanks. Jonah
  21. Thanks, lots of good stuff there that I wasn't aware of. I didn't word my question very well; I'm looking for a large fire truck tire to sit in the bed of an F-150 service truck, not for the F-150 itself. Regardless, looks like SSB has some large wheel/tire sets that might work. Jonah
  22. Are there any alternatives to bleach for removing chrome? Thanks Jonah
  23. Thanks for the info, those models look really nice! Hoping to get to this project soon. Jonah
  24. Looking for a truck kit that contains a spare wheel & tire...I'm building AMT's F-150 as a fire dept support truck, and wanted to load a spare tire in the bed that would look like it would reasonably fit the average city fire truck. I could get a wheel and drill out the lug nuts, but would prefer a purpose-molded spare wheel as I think that would look better. Know of any truck kits with such a spare, or better yet, have one you don't need? :D/> Thanks! Jonah
  25. 36375 has always looked right to me, though I don't have a definitive source for that. Post some pics of the big BUFF when you get a chance! Jonah
