  1. Hi fellas, Got another Jolly Rogers pic I found while sifting through the National Archives web site. Never seen this one before! Early Lo-Viz with the Dk Grey squadron Markings (AJ & Small Bones) on the Outside of the Vertical Stabs, but no Chevrons/Stripes under the canopy. The odd thing to me is the Lt Grey National Insignia, NAVY, Modex Numbers and "VF-84" on the Ventral Fins underneath! Maybe some of you guys have seen this one before, BUT it's new to me!! It's a beautiful pic of a launch! V.C.
  2. I was thinking too, that maybe it's a TARPS bird. Most of those were in the higher modex numbers it seems, and I've heard that some squadrons had a slightly different scheme for their TARPS planes. I think that VF-103 Sluggers had a TARPS plane, modex number 214 in over all grey when most of their others were in the TPS scheme in the mid 80s. ...just a guess. V.C.
  3. Hi Guys, Thought the Jolly Rogers fans could enlighten me on this subject. It's a photo I came across that I've never seen before. It's from the Koku Fan January 1988 issue. It's a picture of a VF-84 F-14A in a scheme I'm not familiar with, but had always wondered if this scheme had ever existed. All over Gull Grey without any Hi-Viz warnings or stencils! The only thing I'm wondering about is the color of the markings. The caption states that all markings are black. I can't really tell from the photo. I assumed the markings were the Dark Grey that was on the TPS schemes during 1986. Maybe

  6. Here are a couple of things that got me wondering. (pics taken from cybermodeler.com) Lt. Ghost Grey Bones on the Black Tails. Huh.. news to me. Is Dk. Grey correct for the tails? V.C.
  7. It would be greatly appreciated if you could :D There are just some photos out there I can't tell if it's Lt. Ghost Grey or "dingy" White. I'll PM you. Thanks! V.C.
  8. So VF-84's Commemorative jet #207 used Lt. Ghost Grey Bones on the Tails?! Which other jets had the Lt. Ghost Grey on the Black tails, Brian? V.C.
  9. Hi guys, Me again... and yes, another Jolly Rogers question. I've noticed some decal makers recently using Grey Skull & Crossbones on the tails of VF-84's Tomcats in the mid 90s. I never knew of VF-84 using anything but White Skull & Crossbones on the tails of the "Black Tailed" Tomcats. So my question is, did VF-84 every use Grey Skull & Crossbones on the Black Tails of their Tomcats in the the timeframe from 1992 to 1995? Most photos are hard to tell if it's White on some Black Tails that might be dirty or a "dingy" white, OR if it's a Lighter Grey. V.C.
  10. Hi guys, I'm getting ready to start a VF-103 F-14B Jolly Rogers, and I'm using the decals for the USS George Washington Cruise with the Chevrons on the Fuselage (Eagle Strike 48-166). The only thing I'm wondering about is the tail decals are White for Dark Grey tails. Is this correct? I always thought that all of the Jolly Rogers' Dark Grey tails used Lt. Grey Skull & Crossbones & Tail Codes. I'm wanting to make sure I get it right before it's too late! Thanks, V.C.
  11. Hi guys! Wondering if the the Jolly Rogers ever used White Skull & Crossbones and Tail Codes on their Dark Grey tails? ...especially on their USS George Washington cruise. V.C.
  12. Hi Guys, I'm needing the rear window for a 1/48 Occidental Harvard kit (not T-6 or SNJ but the Harvard kit). Anyone make a vacuformed canopy, or anyone have a spare. I can pay by Paypal. Thanks, V.C.
