I agree, I think that there's lots of room for detail sets with this kit. I'd love to see some Brassin or Aires Burner cans and an Aires Wheel Bay set. The Fru Fru nozzles are pretty good, but they don't have the same level of refinement Brassin or Aires has been hitting recently. I also have a Mig-25 BM Nose from Fru-Fru. This will probably work if you have to have a BM before KH releases one, but will require some work fitting it. I can post pictures of that if anyone is interested. M

I test-fit the Fru-Fru Model 48-013 Exhaust Nozzles for Mig-25 P,PD,PDS,PU,RU. They fit like a glove, and will only require slight modification to the exhaust trunks/tubes to use.

I've seen this somewhere before.... Looking good, Fabian. Don't get sidetracked by that nice Trumpeter kit on your workbench, though...

Looking good so far, Zigi! I always look forward to your builds!

Looks really great, Honza! I admire your painting and building style very much, I'd like someday to be as talented as you are. Practice practice practice! Mike

I've always had great results spraying whites, yellows, and reds over a very thin coat of silver. The reflectiveness of the silver helps to make the colors "pop" a little more with fewer coats to build up the pigment. hth, Mike

Yeah, if you're ever in Beijing, it's a must see! It was around a 2 hour bus ride to get out there, and it truly is out in the middle of nowhere. My Website has some pictures of the airplanes and the bus route you need to take to get there. (Bus number 643). --M

Hey, man, that's looking good. You should take it to Modelfiesta in a couple of weeks, you'll do well with it there. I'm not sure I am going to be able to make it out there, but I'm gonna try to if I'm not in China! --Mike

To me, the nose is the worst part. I've compared the kit with some scale plans and scaled up pictures, and the only part I can see using unmodified are the horizontal stabilizers. The nose is shaped like a banana, whereas the real aircraft has a symmetric nose. The cockpit of the kit is actually somewhat detailed, however the only thing that is really accurate about it is the number of seats. Look at Armin's build in the gallery to see how much he changed. --Mike

Just a different decal sheet. They haven't updated the molds as far as I know. --M

Hey, Bjorn, I just recently got one of these ultrasonic doohickeys and here's what I use: For lightly dried paint, I'll use either simple green or castrol super clean. They both work well and they don't harm the teflon seals in the airbrush. For difficult stuff, I'll fill a small glass jar with laquer thinner and put it in the ultrasonic cleaner filled with water. The water transmits all the energy into the jar, and you can use laquer thinner without damaging the plastic tray in the ultrasonic cleaner. It also saves some money as you can use less of the working fluid. Hth, Mike

Wow, Grant!! Great shots and write-up! Got anything else like this to share? --Mike

Yes, that is classic thick Mr. Color. Thin it down some more and you should be ok. Also, make sure that your airbrush doesn't have any more of the "spider webs" left in it before you spray again. hth, Mike

Hey, Bjorn, if you like the acrylics as they are, try thinning them with laquer thinner. Tamiya and Gunze are actually Acrylic Laquers, so they spray on beautifully when thinned with laquer thinner. In fact, that's the only thing I thin them with. P.S. How's the working man's life? --Mike
