  1. Studying photo's was the first step, just trying to simulate the finish by painting and weathering the upper surfaces a lighter color compared to the sides and underneath. I first painted the model with helo drab lightened w/about 20% white. Then painted straight helo drab on all the rivet lines and bottom of helicopter. Next color was helo drab w/ about 40% white sprayed only on the top surfaces and in between some of the panels. Next a coat of future only where the decals are going to be placed. Dullcoat after the decals. I used a sludge wash, using pastel chalk, on the tail boom and w
  2. Thanks for the comments guys, that means alot coming from the regulars here in ARC. Brian
  3. My first attempt at a helicopter, Revell 1/32 Apache. I added scratchbuilt wire strike kit, cable cutters and deflectors, and framing to the cannon and airframe. Decals are from Fireball Models depicting FL NG. Painted with different shades of Helo Drab and weathered with pastels and a sludge wash. Had a blast building this and will look good on the shelf. Any comments are welcome.
  4. OMG this has to be the funniest thread ever. I'm still laughing out loud. Nice job.
  5. I'm thinking about a Monogram B-26 or a 1/72 Liberator from Academy.
  6. Nice builds. I really like how you have the Saturn V displayed, great idea.
  7. Well the airwing is finally on board. It's mostly cvw 11 with a little of cvw14 in the mix. I used GMM west coast markings for most of the aircraft. I missed the group build but wanted everyone to at least see my rendition of Tamiya's Enterprise. I will submit a submission in the future with more photos and details. Brian
  8. Colpar Hobbies in Denver, CO. The best hobby store I've been too so far. But I look forward to checking out the suggestions here when I'm in the area.
  9. Does anyone know when the Kinetic E-2c Hawkeye will be released here? I gotta have one of those.
  10. Here's my carrier that I just finished. I've wanted to build this model for so long and finally decided to just do it. I just missed the GB but know everyone would like to see my version on the Enterprise. I have some other photos posted in a couple of other threads to check out. I used GMM photoetched set and WEM photoetch set. I scratchbuilt a generic hanger so the hull would not look empty but added no detail as this was not the focal point of the model. The ship took 5 months to build and I am currently working on the airwing. I'll post some pics when I get the airwing on board. GM
  11. Yes there is more pictures. Check out the other posting, there,s more pics there. Yours is going to look great if not better than mine. Look forward to seeing your when its finished.
  12. I should've posted these in the finished section, my bad. I was a fun kit too build. Anyways, enjoy the photos. Brian
  13. Here's a few of the superstructure. This was built mostly OOB with the enhancement of the GMM photoetched set and elevator set. Currently working on the airwing. Brian
  14. This is the first time i used photobucket. If i did it correct, i'll post more photos.
  15. That's looking real good. If you need any advice, by the looks of it you don't, give me a shout. I just finished building that kit. Brian
  16. Well this sucks. I just found out about the Enterprise group build and I just finished my carrier. I have been working on it most of the summer and my goal was to finish the boat by xmas. Now I'm working on the airwing. I'll have to post some pics or send in a submission when I get the airwing finished. Good luck to everyone in the group build and look forward to seeing everyone's projects. Brian
  17. Thanks for the info. Exactly what I was looking for.
  18. Does anyone have any info on anyone that produces aftermarket decals for helicopter's? I have an Apache, Cobra, and Huey that are in need of some markings. Not looking for anything in particular, I just have these models with no decals. Or if someone has something they want to sell? They are all 1/32. Any info would be great. Thanks, Brian.
