  1. Considering its age that is an amazing build.
  2. This is Academy's 1/72 FW-190D. Its not a bad kit and its construction is actually pretty good. It costs around 10.00 canadian so its kind of a bargain. My only complaint about this kit is the lack of a Swastika and for me to properly complete it I will have to buy an additional decal sheet which is annoying. The canopy which was two piece didn't fit as well as it should have. The wings, gear, cockpit, fuse were all great and I used only the tiniest amount of putty on one place. If your after a quick build you could do worse.
  3. I normally use Tamiya when airbrushing. This is largely because I consider myself an average modeler and Tamiya is easier to use than some of the others. I have had terrible luck with humbrol, but I bought a electric paint mixer and that might fix the problem there. The different shades of silver looks really good. I had not considered that. On your P-51 how did you chose which panels would be done different? Mixing a different colour in is also a cool idea. I have done that with figures, but never thought of doing it with airbrush paints. All of them look great but the Harvard looks especiall
  4. I have a 1/48 Oscar to work on and its silver. My airbrushed silver looks very nice and smooth now when I do it, but it needs something else to just make it look that little bit more fancy. For an average modeler is there anything I can do to silver planes to make them look a little cooler?
  5. Hey Scooter. I haven't but I like the idea of the masks. I find them such a pain to get looking good. I'd pay a few bucks for peace of mind and seeing the job done right.
  6. Thanks guys. The chipping was a first for me. I have tried some drybrushing at times but never chipping. I looked at a variety of suggested techniques, but in the end I free handed it and tried to be logical about where it might come off. For my skills I was very happy with it. I have seen much better here of course but for me it was good. I need to work on putty still as where it is let down is the top of the cowling is where there is a groove where the two halves met. I did sand and putty but it was still there. I was worried that if I just kept doing it that it wouldn't fix the problem but
  7. Finished this 1/48 Val from Hasegawa. Its my best so far but there are some issues. Puttying is still my bane and struggle with making it seamless. Canopy masking is also a problem. Painting wise I improved a lot. Its not a bad kit but its a bit over engineered I think. Having to make the cockpit capsule that gets glue into the fuse just asks for fit issues and the instructions are a little vague in places. Its not a bad kit I just think it could have been a little better. thanks for looking.
  8. Hi As we have a pretty diverse bunch here I thought i'd ask. I do a lot of mini's as well as kits. I am trying to find a reliable supplier preferably in Toronto where I live but the US is fine if they mail. am looking for Andrea Mini's and especially Pegaso. Pegaso has some amazing pieces but they charge shipping that seems above what it should cost. By enough to make me not want to order them. If anyone knows anywhere cool it is appreciated.

    1/48 Hurricane

I am thinking of doing a 1/48 Hurricane mark 1 in Polish Battle of Britain colors. Who makes the best kit? I saw Hasegawa makes one and I am assuming that it is typical Hasegawa. Is there any of ones out there that would be better?
  10. Interesting sites thanks I just found Techmod has some decal sheets for Polish Sqd's. Anyone know a good supplier for them?
  11. Does anyone know of any decent Hawker Hurricane kits that come with markings of aircraft flown by Poles. Battle of Britain ones are fine.
  12. I did a search and didn't find it. Its an awesome publication and covers stuff not readily found elsewhere. Its great, but the site is so outdated with info its just hard to know what to do. I'd buy them from Amazon if they had them but they don't either. Its all a bit of a mess and its a shame.
  13. I have up to number 18 in the casebound and I love these things. Best of their kind I think. I bought them and Osprey stuff. But they have kind of fell off the map. Looking at Amazon they don't really cover them very much and the main site for the publisher is showing number 23 as current and 22 is dated as 2007 which is ages ago. I'm a little worried about putting my credit card info through the cart system there as if its automatic i'll get charged but won't get the book. If they are still going along how would I order a volume beyond the 23 which is listed. I heard 26 or 27 is available. I'
