Looking good - my build is at a similar stage and I use the same dremel attachment here :)

Pit done. About to close up the fuse
-
very cool - gonna be spectacular when complete!
-
I don't recall an aftermarket kit having it - I believe the bump is a SATCOM antenna - but the 1/48 F-15I from GWH appears to include it
-
wow you are really getting this together fast - looks good! Here I thought I was ahead of the curve getting the pit built and base coated today on my build lol
-
Hmm, not sure my skill level is up to handling a vac form. I assume you have to scribe the entire thing and not sure how I would depict many of the fuselage details. Maybe just keep my eyes open for one of the old resin conversions on ebay and such... Maybe someday someone will do the longest serving Crusader variant in plastic (not terribly likely I fear)
-
Yeah hard to say - still a great scheme either way. Would love to build in 1/48 but seems like any conversions are long OOP

Interesting... I wonder if this is the same plane as below from VFP-62 just maybe a few years later with some modifications to the shark mouth design etc

Eduard/Hasegawa 1/48 A-4E/F VF-192 -
Been working on the pit. My picture skills arent the greatest - not sure why the black looks so glossy, its dead flat in person:
-
The Eduard release of the Hasegawa plastic is pretty great - got a couple on sale and actually it is the "deal of the day" at Sprue Bros if ya hurry. Kit comes with great decals - really there isn't an option supplied that I would not mind building. Comes with etched bits for the cockpit, window masks and a "Brassin" seat which looks pretty good. I will add aftermarket wheels, Shrikes and wheel bays. The kit comes with a A-4F VA-192 decal option but I also have the old Victory Prod Skyhawk sheet that has the MOH aircraft flown by Michael Estocin which is tempting as well - I still

phantastic - top notch - just got this kit so super inspiring! -
Love the choice here. Will be attempting a Va-192 Vietnam Skyhawk myself for the group build - hope to get a thread up tonight

Thankya - the fuselage markings are really unusual - looks like a dragon and a dog? I have pics of the front of this a/c but this is the first I had seen the other markings. Would be a cool subject to build!

1/48 Hasegawa F-14A Tomcat, NSAWC Adversary, 1999

totally awesome build and the job you did on that scheme is fantastic! -
Hiya Julien - was curious - do you have a larger version of your signature pic of RF-8 that you might be able to share? Looks like a cool scheme - I think I have one or two other pics of it just not that one...

So a start on the Hypersonic exhausts - each side is five resin parts that you have to carefully separate from a resin block along with an etched ring - the sections are keyed to fit together in a certain way. A lot of work but I think they are going to look far better than the kits - there is some very nice detail on the last piece that exits the aircraft. Also been painting the cockpit and seats, applying the Eduard bits - maybe get far enough tomorrow night to share pics of those...
-
Yeah that is pretty cool - dont see the AIM9 loaded on the Intruder very often! I was leaning to this loadout - it just looks like the A-6 could put some major hurt on an attacking fleet....
-
Really fantastic build and paint work on this! Now I need to get a Hasegawa A-7 in my stash I am so inspired :)
-
Looking good so far - nice added details to the gear! You decide on what scheme yet? lotsa good ones on that Furball set
-
Cool :) I intend to break into the exhausts this afternoon - looks like you need to sort these out prior to closing the fuselage halves - quite a few bits there but looks straightforward - I will hopefully get some pics up late today
-
Im cool either way with the decision

Exhaust is from Hypersonic - it is designed for the HB Intruder but looks like it will fit the Kinetic with some work: http://www.hypersonicmodels.co.uk/product/a-6-intruder-exhausts Wheel wells are from Wolfpack - actually intended for the EA-6B Kinetic kit but again look like they might fit into the A-6E and offer some detail improvement http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/wpd48115.htm Thanks!

Anybody got one of these they are looking to sell for a reasonable amount? Or I do have some WW1 and WW2 1/32nd scale stuff I can offer in trades....
