  1. What a gorgeous build, I just acquired a 48 scale version of this plane, and am surprised how small it is. It's no tgoing to be easy to make th eengine wires. -Al
  2. I also wonder if this might work with skin tones... I'll have to give this a try on some training pieces. Luckily, at the last club meeting, someone brought in bucketfulls of left over pieces from various kits. Included in the spares box was a complete set of 1/48 paratroopers of a C-47 troop transport. Lot of practice pieces for figure painting. Cheers -Al
  3. Good Day Everyone... Reading Chukw's build of his ME 410, I poundered on his problem of making spinner stripes. Then I thought of a tool I had in my box from my wooden boat building period. It is called the Master Airscrew Balsa Stripper. A tool used to cut balsa strips out of a larger piece of wood. Just dial the thickness you need, insert the type of exacto blade you want, and use it like a wood plane. You run it along the wood, and strips are produced. The modification I made is to drill two holes to attach a larger block of wood under it. I made it flush with the side surface,
  4. What a great paint job on the cockpit, all of it actually, well done -Al

  6. Thank you Sir, I think the 24 hours is the way to go -Al
  7. Hi Folks; Thanks for the input.. I forgot about the question I had asked... Thinking back, I believe Triarius is on the right track.. The base coat was probably not dry enough. The Tamyia had been sprayed, and the MM was applied straight out of the bottle, but only 1/2 hour later..? Thanks Fellas. -Al
  8. Superthin liquid cement seeps and I leave a finger print on my project... -Al
  9. Looks busy! Are you following some kind of photo/diagram for all these additions? Some of those would have to be secured to the engine somehow instead of just hanging free. It would catch the eye a little more. What do you think? Al
  10. Nicely done! Looks great! Al
  11. Good day All; Has anyone had the same problem I am experiencing with Tamiya and Model Master acrylics? When brushing on Tamiya acrylic paint on top of Model Master acrylic, it feels like trying to paint with water on top of oil. It just does not stick! I'm thinking of putting a coat of future as a barrier between the two paints to solve this problem.. -Al
  12. Your work inspires me to do better, and examine what I have at hand vs what I would like to depict. This was an extremely educational build for me. You are undertaking things, I have not the courage to try. But I have plans to try some of the techniques and ideas you have given us a look at. Thank you for you for sharing so much with all of us. Cheers! -Al PS, I'm also on edge about what is next on the bench...
  13. I find your painting technique to be extremely effective. The work is flawless, and makes the eye travel over the entire piece. It makes a huge difference between what seems like a toy, and a model. I have tried to duplicate this type of painting in my 110 with great success, but a lot of it gets lost when the fuselage is closed. I think 1/48 is just a little too small for this type of painting. On 1/32 though... Fantastic!! -Al
