  1. I also heard that the drag was horrible w the triple racks as well. Burnout, do you work on A10s? What unit if so?
  2. They did restore the 262 and put it inside, but that's been like 5 or more years ago........I'm hoping you just haven't seen it inside yet Dave and that they DIDN'T take it! The tomcat is gone, one day i was driving by and noticed I couldn't find the Jolly Roger tails..... :(
  3. Here's the 'home' players from the last couple of years: VR-64 "Condors" VR-52 "Taskmasters" HMH-772 "Hustlers" 103rd FS, 111th FW PA ANG
  4. Great job Ken.....esp in those conditions on Sunday!
  5. Nice job. Much love for the Hog!!
  6. Two jets took off Friday...that leaves two on the ramp. Almost all over..... Also had one of the remaining jets up for a local sortie.
  7. So that's it. The 111th had their Final Flight ceremony this past weekend. Can't believe it. Very hard to watch. It was a nice ceremony overall, despite the fact that it's a celebration of the end of something. Going to be putting up a lot more on my website in the upcoming weeks, as I have a lot from the last several weeks now of flight ops and events. Congratulations to all the men and women of the 111th FW.
  8. Thanks for all the kind words. I appreciate it. I'm slow to getting the updates on, but I should have some soon of some of the Fini-Flights and some last range stuff as well. As far as where they are going.....The last few A-10s they have (only 5 left right now) are all going to get upgraded and then to various units. Already some of them have shown up in Spangdalhem markings. I believe these last 5 will be going to Ft. Wayne, as they have already received one A-10 (from Moody I think) for training purposes and are receiving more this summer.
  9. Thank for taking a look and the kind words guys. Ken, if you could believe it, from what I heard they JUST got their new mission (yeah, about a month till A-10 ops are finished) and it does not include flying. I feel bad for the men and women there, the Air Force just strung them along until now....no one had a clue, but there were rumors all over the place. Guys had to figure out what to do, move and still fly/work on A-10s or another aircraft, or stay and see and retrain. Just a crappy situation all around. And I'm not even in the unit!!! Oh well.
  10. The 111th FW, PA Air National Guard, is losing it's A-10s and it's flying mission this June. I've been following the wing ever since I moved 3 miles south of NAS JRB Willow Grove about 4 years ago now. Finally, I was able to pull together a lot of my photos/videos and make a sort of tribute webpage for them. I'm still going to update it in the next month with the final flights they are taking and some more misc. things I will put up. I've met a lot of great people in the unit and I'll be sad to see them go. Nothing like having Hogs flying over your house 5 days a week. Anyways......enjoy
  11. Building 2 A-10s right now in 1/48th, would like to do their 'normal' everyday loadout. Use the Triple Ejector Racks (TER) underneith and usually a rocket pod or 2 on the wings. Only rocket pods I've seen that are correct are out of a 1/48th Huey kit from ?? but I'd take even the Italari ones (too long) from the a-10 kit they have. I'll pay or trade if I have something you might need. Thanks!
  12. Wow thanks so much everyone. Great info to review. Looks like I can't lose with either one of those two!! Last question....where's some good places to buy these online? i have seen dixieart.com...and tower listed above. Is about $90 then a good deal for the badger patriot? thanks so much. brian
  13. Thanks everyone so far. I've been trying to do a little research and it seems like either an Iwata eclipse or badger patriot might be a good pick for me. Anyone have any comments on those or any other specifics?
  14. So I'm thinking I'll ask for a new airbrush for christmas. I just have the Testors Aztek workhorse airbrush now...and was just going to upgrade to the Testors Solo Resin Aztek, since I have a lot of nozzles and cups and they have it at Michael's and AC Moore (use the 40 or 50% coupon). But then, I was looking on here trying to find what people are using, and I'm seeing a lot of people using other stuff. So I'm basically wondering, should I just go with the better Aztek, or go for something like an Iwata eclipse? I know everyone has their own opinions...and there's not one basic answer, but
  15. Nice shots Dave! Where the heck where you when you got that shot??
  16. Pretty sure a superscale sheet has them. Similar to the Revell ones, but different plane and squadron if I remember correctly. It has a Barksdale A-10 on the sheet as well if I remember correctly.
  17. That's what gets me the most.....I can understand you need to shift aircraft around, which will affect some units, but to take a unit that knows what they are doing, can be deployed and take their aircraft away, to give to another unit that is going to take what, at least a year, probably two before they fully are 'deployable'........not only is it wasted time and experience, but not to mention a bonehead move in terms of money, and as a taxpayer, that ticks me off!! The worst thing with the Willow Grove guys is that they still don't know what their new mission will be....so guys aren't sure
  18. Just wondering if anyone had any extra GBU-12s in 1/72nd scale. I am looking for a total of 4, but even just 2 will do for now. I know they are in one of the hasegawa weapons sets, but was looking to avoid all the other stuff in there I don't need. I'll pay a few bucks for them too. Thanks.
  19. I heard a rumor that they might make a more 'colorful' ship in the future......so we'll see. I do like the fact that they kind of honored Battle Creek by keeping the tail with the same design.
  20. Wow, nice work. Nice collection, such a diverse field of subjects!! It seems like somewhere to 'visit' if one ever gets the chance! Thanks for posting. Brian
  21. What's the best color to use if I'm painting some US bombs as dummy/practice ones? I've seen the general mk.82 practice, but also gbu-12s, jdams, etc........just don't know what is the best match, if any for that blueish-green color. Any help?? Thanks.
  22. I'm not sure, but the Selfridge guys might already have started some markings on their A-10s......I know they recieved a lot of the Battle Creek A-10s, and I know the Battle Creek jet's markings, look at this picture taken about a week ago from the Warren Grove Range in NJ.. BC jet - look at engine nacelle I've never seen those engine markings on a BC A-10....not a clear enough pic to see what it really is but.....I know also that Selfridge pilots and some of the jets are in Maryland right now.....Maybe Craig could add to this? And don't even get me started on BRAC...what a bunch of crap.
  23. Hi guys, I'm working on a few 1/48 A-10s right now from Revell and Italeri, and the Italeri kit comes with rocket pods...however, they don't seem to be the same as what the Hogs are flying with now......the ones that kit comes with are longer than the 2 or 10 pylon, and all the pics of A-10s i have, the rocket pods are actually smaller than the pylon. I know I can just chop it down, but is there a 'real' rocket pod out there instead? Also, any ideas on where I can get a good 1/48 travel pod and the carried flare dispenser (SUU-25?) for the OIF/OEF loadouts?? Thanks a lot! Brian
