Didn't Twobobs do a sheet on them? Here's some MD Hawgs at the Bollen Range.

Yeah that was me, was up there for the A-10s return but when you guys showed up it was a little 'bonus' so thanks for stopping by and.....thanks for the info on the plane as well.

Ah...so you were WARLOCK 8 huh ? Always nice to see some transient stuff in, esp. the old P-3 who used to be there a lot with VP 66 and VP 64. Caught some shots of you before you 'took the river route to Stewart', right? That F-84 is being restored by the DVHAA muesuem....I've heard some rumors that they are going to do it as a PA ANG jet, but who knows. Anyways....not to change the thread, but here you are Warlock 8!
-
Tom, here's the other two ID birds, 611 and 653....4 total from each KC, ID, and PA went.

Last 6 jets came back today...check out the 'mission' markings and the 'sand' they brought back with them!

Hmm..don't understand...but here it is again... AF.mil Article And awesome shot there Jeff!! That is spectacular!

The first cell of 6 A-10s returned today from the 111th FW, PA ANG to Willow Grove, PA...with jets from KC and ID used in the three unit deployment. With BRAC (don't even get me started ), the 111th is scheduled to lose their A-10s starting in the spring, so this is most likely their last deployment with their current mission. The Air Force website had a little article up on them, and here are some pictures from today. Air Force Article

It was one of the PA A-10 pilots, who was great and asked every flight for the check. Super great guy. The MD guys couldn't do one of them, but I did get two passes from the PA flights and then one over head from one of the MD flights. One of my shots even confirmed a hung bomb (bdu) on one of the PA jets and they radioed him to let him know. I'm hoping to get out there this summer again.

Thanks! Here's a few shots from some work at the Bollen Range, mostly MD A-10s. Pretty gloomy day for shooting and they stayed far away for most!! I thought some of these were pretty cool though... Check out the Litening Pod staying 'on target'

Here's another look at that SATCOM antenna, I posted it in another thread a few weeks back. They brought in two Barksdale jets, stayed for about 1.5 weeks, did the training, learned the upgrade, and started putting them on the PA planes then. I think right now about 3 or 4 have the upgrade (of the PA A-10s that is). Here's the Barksdale A-10 that had the upgrade that was here.

I was referring to the 1/72nd sheet they have with the PA A-10 markings on it. I'm pretty sure it was the first sheet they put out.
-
Wow, talk about customer service....AWESOME!! Thanks, and nice job. The 1/72nd ones are great, looking forward to using these 1/48ths soon!

Thanks for doing another Willow Grove A-10, albeit the 981 jet again (what's with this one??). Just a minor thing to note, you actually need one more set of the tail numbers as all the Willow Grove jets have the number on the outsides of both sponsons (wheel wells). Nothing some extra decals can't fix, but it'd be great if they were all there.

Question about A-10 sensors after seeing the new
Waltz41 replied to David Walker's topic in Jet Modeling
There were two of the Barksdale A-10s that came in to Willow Grove about a month ago. One was the SATCOM jet with the sniper pod, and they were here for a little over a week training and checking out some of the pilots. Then they started doing the mods here, and a few jets are finished. I've seen at least 3 different jets with the antenna mod, including these two aircraft. -
They would use those travel pods for the East Coast demo team's bird...I remember seeing them quite a few times at airshows. Here they are at McGuire AFB in 2007.

And so it ends...CTANG 103rd FW A-10 Operations
Waltz41 replied to Ken Middleton's topic in Research Corner
Ken, great shots......such a sad sight though. Before I know it, our Hogs will be gone as well........it's a sad sad state of affairs with the BRAC stuff. Oh well...... -
Hey Boom175, are they still putting ECM pods on any of the hogs? The local 103rd here hardly ever has them on any more, and from what I remember from a friend with them said they didn't use them on missions over there. brian
-
Just put my order in. And have to say, thanks for doing a book on the Hog. Besides Logan's, there's nothing out there. I am so pumped up for this release, can't wait!!!! Brian

Great! This is perfect. We need more A-10 decals out there, hardly any for 1/72nd anyways.....and they just happened to be my hometown unit. Thanks a lot! When are these going to be available and where?

Great shots everyone. Really nice work. Here's a few pics a buddy of mine in the 111th took while in the sandbox recently. These were a few from a guy in his unit that everyone was sending via email to friends and family back home. The last one is one of my favorites of all time. WOW.
-
Very cool thanks for sharing. Wow, so do you have this as an original? I've only seen this once, I think an osprey book or something like that, I think this is one of the most unique, albeit a sad ending in a sense.

These were at the Cape Cod show this past summer. Porky was a CT jet, while the Panda was the unmarked MA hog at the gate.
