  3. I've had this for a couple of years with a can of Tamiya gloss black spray. I needed the paint for a 1/48 Brit Hawk trainer and figured I'd paint the body as long as I had the paint out. I saw this GB yesterday and took some photos of the body and (due to unemployment) worked on the emgine/transmission last night /this morning. Not sure why I masked and painted this-it's totally covered by the body tub when finished I'm using hasegawa's etched parts-mostly fot the screens for the intakes but it has cloth seatbelts and a few other parts as well. Oh yes, I have a set of Indycal

  8. Your stuff looks fine-nice clean builds. A few things to do next time-your sherman tools look too new. Paint 'em green, they were generally painted the same color as the tank. Drybrush the handles with a wood color to show wear and the metal parts with a dark metallic color with some light metal spots where they get the most wear. And your packs need to be attached to something:) I'll post a coupel of more Shermans for you to look at. Nice job on and old and challenging kit. Mike T
  9. It's a home made decal-that's why I had to paint the area white first (no alps printer:) Mike T
  10. Hey whatever kid. Good luck n best wishes Mike T
  11. Well I came across a photo of your build while searching for photos of my next project-hence my lateness to the party. I critiqued your build based on my experience and I hold to my view that it's too dirty and chipped, not too resprayed. I'm sorry you're too soft skinned to take constructive criticism-the emperor has no clothers Mike T Taylor Made Miniatures critique away. 12. Yer gonna have to show me a photo of a late 70's/ 80's scooter that looks like that. In all my time at Cherry Point I never saw one. Most modelers wouldn't know. Your weathering technique looks good but show me a photo. Or even a photo of an F-106 or F-14 from the same period that is so heavily weathered and chipped. Kudos on the weathering, as I said most will say it looks good but it's not authentic in my experienced opinion.Nice job on a nice kit (just bought my third), just to beat up. 13. I hate to be a stick in the mud but any Scooter that looked like that in My Marine Corps would have the plane Captain lynched. Nice weathering for a WW-II Marine Plane during continuous combat use but not in my day. Mike T
  14. Hi Guys, My Italeri 1/48 Tornado box was crammed too full of aftermarket stuff and when I went to look the main canopy has cracked almost in 2. I also have a 1/72 Hasegawa Tornado that needs a windscreen and canopy. If anyone has some old beaters setting around or has the parts recovered from a crash I'd be amazed!! Mike Taylor
  15. "they can get rid of 17 carriers (7 CVN, 10 LHA). " So after you scrap all these assets (talk about throwing away money! Or maybe we should sell them?) you're going to make the remaining CVN's amphib capable? Rebuild them with welldecks for LCACs, AAV's and landing craft? Split the deck/hanger space between jets and choppers? Perhaps you're saying that the other types of support ships should take over the mission? Or am I to understand that you don't believe that a rapid reaction force capable of landing assets on a foriegn shore, whether it be sandy beach or industrial port, is going to be
  16. Just caught this post and this particular post struck me when I realised that you wouldn't save any money if the Marine Corps went away. In fact the United States Marine Corps doesn't cost you a thing because you're a Canadian. The USMC works the hardest with the least. Often times cast off or redundent Army and Airforce equipment. Those branches want and usually get the lion's share of the shiney new toys. We marines (former and present) pride ourselves on the ability to do the most with the least and do it better, faster and more efficient than the others. On Canada's defence budget: How mu
