The main difference is that the A-6 uses a re-designed wing to allow for a pair of MG 151/20 cannons in the outer bays, unlike the earlier wing which could only house the Mg FF cannon in the outboard bays. The gondolas were a bolt-on option for any G model 109, they would not necessarily be incorrect on a G-2. Correct. But bases on Darren Robert's build of the kit, the frames are not thick enough for a G model. Also, you can see that I mean about the front corners of the canopy being part of the fuselage plastic.

Well you need to sand flush any bumps and scoops on the nose, cowling, and upper wings. This includes the large bulges for the machine guns on the upper cowling. Hopefully, the kit provides these as separate pieces, otherwise you are in for much work to remove and fill the holes that remain. The next major issue is the canopy. The 109F canopy has glass panels on the lower front corners and the 109G has sheet metal in those places. The kit uses the plastic molded to the fuselage in this area. Indeed. I was planning on buying the sheet just for the A-6 decals. But it's very cool to see the local base represented.

Excellent. Thank you. I've got some MERs and Snakeyes form a couple F-8E kit's I can throw on there. Also, I think I have some Rockeye cluster bombs in a Hase weapon pack. Only thing now are the decals. Ideally, I'd like to go with VA-196.

I have a 1/72 Fujimi KA-6D that I'd like to convert to an A-6A if possible.Does anybody know the details?

I'm in with a 1/72 Hasegawa F-4J. Finally going to put those Vagabond Decals VF-84 decals to good use.

I had the pleasure of meeting Hal at a show in MA about 5 years ago. He was an absolute pleasure to talk to about modelling and anything Luftwaffe. I still remember his most emphasized bit if advice - always pick up a 109 by the nose. Rest In Pease, Sir.

You won't be able to do a standard G-2, G-6, or G-14 with this kit. You can get reasonably close to the high altitude G-14 A/S or some late G-6 A/S, but with either you will have to shorten the tail wheel strut and add a dust boot. It you feel like scratchbuilding the retractable tail wheel bay and doors as well as do some filling and rescribing of some hatches you can also get very close to a K-4.

How hard would it be to modify the stabs?

I've got a 1/72 Hasegawa EJ-Kai that I'll make into an F by swapping out the hard wing for the slatted wing from an S that I have in the stash. I just need to find decals. Looking to do a Jg 73 bird in the Norm 81 scheme.
