  1. Very impressive originality! That's pretty darn cool, and is some amazing creativity. Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see it finished.
  2. Well, if it's HO scale, you could always reenact the end of Blue Thunder...
  3. Chris, that is some beautiful work. I want to get one but it's going to be quite some time before it's affordable; will this be something that's a short-time offer (like the F-16XL conversion) or will you have a more extended production akin to your Corsair and Flanker bits?
  4. It's true some detail will get lost, but I think of it this way. Artistically, you can't ever tell what's going to be visible or invisible through openings until after it's assembled. So rather than risk an unpainted part, it's better to complete the whole thing. And, in a sense, it gives you more of a connection to the aircraft, that there's secrets only you and it know. A bit anthropomorphic maybe, but just...it's also the knowledge of building it up and seeing what isn't seen, and learning more than you'd get from just a picture or an outer-skin model only. That said, BEAUTIFUL work on
  5. Looks awesome! The Israelis have some neat schemes, and your work put a great sharkmouth on it. Idly, one has to ask just where you get Sparta smokes...because it's MADNESS that they're not where I can find them.
  6. I triple-dog-dare and if you DON'T put a fuel tank in you gotta stick your tongue to a pole and post pics. Hehehe, that said, BRILLIANT idea on the guitar string. Oxygen hoses and such, all of that makes things perfect. I do like the creativity and scroungeability.
  7. As a thought, I'd agree to the addition of a number of chaff/flare packs. There's the recent model in the Helicopter forum of a particularly well-known Israeli Apache that had some eight or nine dispenser pods mounted on it. Perhaps some extras could go on the wingtips or other fuselage locations? Otherwise, LOVING the build, great stuff! Given a thought to what you might store on your thirteen stations? I'd never seen Hellfires on an A-10 myself, though I understand it can carry them. It would be amusing to have the four-pack trees mounted under the wings...
  8. Same! Old seaplanes are something I always loved, and you did this one great. Love the choice of markings and color.
  9. That's interesting. I'd never heard of using Silly Putty before, how does it do over prepainted areas? And is it hard to clean off the model itself? We all know about SP's ability to pick up ink and such, so I wonder how (or if) that would apply to paint. Probably not, but...with some mattes, or acrylics... I can see definite advantages, like the ability to cut away masked areas that you need, or...well, if you preshaded or undercoated, then apply a fine tracery of putty in the engraved panel lines, rubbing off over the panels themselves...painting over it and then removing the putty woul
  10. Very nice. I see clipped wings and elevators, and it should be good! I'm glad they added their own duct work, and cut it on the opposing corners, so it'll be nice and hidden. I just wish it were 1/48...does anyone know if there's a 1/72 Strike Eagle resin cockpit out there anywhere to make a 2-seater conversion?

  12. Svaz, you gave me an idea... Hey, Putin needs a new ride too. Biggest country on earth needs the biggest plane on earth, da?
  13. Miniature air show on a coffee table...you know, it'd be about the right height to paint the table up to look like a darned airfield; why not? Just a concrete apron, with various stains and markings and such; you could put glass down on top of it and use it as a table or take it out with you and presto - instant model display! Just tell the S.O. that it's "aviation art" - and don't let her catch you sneaking out with it to the model show... P.S. = has anyone heard if there'll be a Reaper kit? The Pred's nice, but the Reaper's really got the looks...and well, a lot more ordnance... (hm, 300
  14. Here's a What-If that might actually be! I crossposted this to whatifmodelers as well, to see if anyone knew if it was a real scheme for a demonstration, or just a really pretty photoshopped pic. I suspect the latter myself, but... ...you gotta admit, it makes the Tomcat look gorgeous, in those JASDF maritime blues.
  15. Somewhat on-topic, dealing with the issues of weapons aboard the V-22, but there's one major thing to consider about all the various gunships and support craft and such. The cabin walls of the Osprey are load bearing structures. That means if you cut holes in it, you begin compromising the airframe, which is why noone's even entertaining such notions beyond things like door guns and that drop-down belly turret. And yes, airframe integrity risks compromise with damage as well. Source on that is from here: http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/v-22-o...ame-03930/#more so I can't say anything a
