  1. Very good sir. Thanks for the info. As great as the skull and crossbones looked on VF-103, IMHO the markings of the Sluggers of that period were among the best that squadron carried
  2. Hey guys, I am thinking of doing a VF-103 Sluggers when they were pioneering the LANTIRN. Does anyone know what kind of loadout they carried with the LANTIRN?
  3. Well, in that case I am glad I declined his offer on the Fujima's
  4. I have finished the cockpit tub, and contstructed the wings.
  5. American Eagle is awesome. I was jus there yesterday and hit up the "Look what we found downstairs" shelf. Haven't made the trip down to Skyway yet. Galaxy is pretty good. I used to go there when they first opened up. The original group of guys they had there was amazing. Just went up a few weeks ago and the staff didn't seem as knowledgable as they once did and not as friendly. I didn't get greeted until I walked up to the register with kit in hand.
  6. So far, I am pretty happy with the Academy kit. The fit is so much better than the Monogram, yet the construction is so similar to the Monogram it feels like spending an afternoon with an old friend.
  7. Toying with my emotions! You would be a life saver if you have one
  8. I have some decals from the CAM decals VF-102..... It has a bunch of "messages" the crews put on bombs as they were loaded.. http://modelingmadness.com/scotts/decals/cam72046.htm Same decals but in 48th. I am going to use the VF-102 markings, but if you want the graffiti, you are welcome to it
  9. I have these decals.... http://modelingmadness.com/scotts/decals/super/ss48896.htm I am using the VF-2 markings from the sheet...you are welcome to the VF-101 if interested
  10. I just picked up a Monogram AV-8B kit from the local shop....unfortunately, it was on the "Look what we found in our stockroom" shelf. The box was a little crushed, but in decent shape.....when I opened it up, the rear canopy was crushed into three pieces. I have the front canopy, just need the rear. Thanks Edit - FOUND! Thanks willieself!!!
  11. Oh....don't get me wrong....I enjoy the Mono Cat....especially for the price. What I was talking about was the fit around the nose just forward of the intakes.....that has got to be the dumbest thing ever.... Thanks for the welcome
  12. That's pretty cool....though sad too.... It's a shame seeing Tomcats like this....I personally think it would be better if they just blew em all up....It's like Elvis or Jimi Hendrix you know? Better to see them just go out in a blaze of glory then seeing them go through the fat bloated sequen jumpsuit stage. AMARC is the Tomcats fat bloated sequen jumpsuit stage.
  13. Thanks....will do. I am doing a Mono Tomcat right now for the Monogram GB, pictures will be coming soon.
  14. Need a canopy for the Monogram AV-8B...just the rear piece. Got the forward canopy, but the rear piece was smashed in three pieces when I opened the box. EDIT - willieself hooked me up!
  15. I was "in the neighborhood" today so I stopped in and picked up the Academy kit. When I got home, I was amazed with the similarities with the Mono kit.....the construction is very much the same, which is fine with me....it was the fit that, well...gave me fits. I was amazed to see even missle stencils on the decal sheet. The shop owner had a couple of Fujima F-14s in 48th scale that he said he would be willing to part with for a "reduced" price....one was the black bunny from VX-4 and the other was a fleet bird...I think VF-114 Aardvarks.....anyone have any experience with Fujima Kitties?
  16. Cool! In that case, I would like to throw my hat in the ring with a F-14A Tomcat and possibly (if it is still at the shop) AV-8B. The Tomcat will be using Superscale VF-2 Bounty Hunter markings....not sure about the Harrier yet....
  17. Thank you! I am heading that way tomorrow....perhaps I will come home with a new Tomcat kit.
  18. I am working on a Monogram F-14A Tomcat and tomorrow I am going to pick up an old Mono AV-8B..... Is it too late to join in the fun?
  19. Hi all, I am new here and I need some help. I am getting back into modeling and I am having a blast. I have built a F-14A and F-14D, both from Revell/Monogram. I remember this kit from when I was modeling as a kid. It is still as much of a pain in the neck as it was then. I want to build another Tomcat but I don't want to do another R/M. The Hasegawa kits are out of the question because my wife would destroy me if I spent that much money on a kit and also, they are hard to find in 1/48th here in Seattle. My local shop has both an Academy F-14A and an Italeri F-14A in 1/48th for $30.00 eac
