1/48 Revell A-10C. (Revell has a great starting point with the old monogram A-10.) I don't really know how difficult what I am asking for is, but would think it easier to convert to recessed panel lines, than completely re-do from scratch.
While I'd love to see this myself, converting from raised to recessed panel lines is VERY difficult to do for an injection molded product. You have to add steel to the tool (remember, the tool is the reverse of the product), which is hard to do (read $$$) and doesn't tend to last. It is much easier to move from recessed to raised (though who would want that these days?). That being said, I'd appreciate even a raised panel line A-10C.

A new tool (reasonably detailed cockpit, landing gear, and gear bays), accurate, A-10 Warthog in 1/72. Ideally could be built as an A, A w/ LASTE mods or the various flavors of C (I'm sure I missed something). Weapons/stores would be optional; if included, they should be accurate and be plausible for the markings/version/timeframe.
While we're on the subject of external stores, I'd like to see in 1/72:
US 7-shot rocket pods (Eduard, I'm looking at you)
Mk. 80 series bombs with various updates seen since the 1970's - air burst fuses, newer tail units including AIR ballutes and modern low-drag fins
GBU-54 (500 lb JDAM w/ added laser guidance)
Proper markings for GBU-12 (the markings are orange, not yellow!)

Beautiful photos as usual; both technically detailed and artistic. Thanks for sharing them with us!

Mark-
On 72-100's F-102, does the nose art say "City of Erie"? If so, I'm definitely in for one of these sheets! I grew up in Erie so I think I'm morally obligated to build this.

I will do a 1/72 scale Turkish F-16 sheet at some point - soon after I release the third 1/48 TuAF F-16 sheet sometime in the next few months.
Very glad to hear this! Looking forward to it.

Well, I think it's a good photo.

I am planning to release the two 1/72 scale sheets at the same time after I release the second 1/48 F-16 sheet. They use the same set of colors and it will be more cost-effective that way.
Kursad-
Do you have any plans for 72002 to still come out? I'd be interested, and the previous posts in this thread indicate there is some interest from others. Your fans want to know your plans!

Mark, my congratulations on this important milestone! May these all sell well.
PS - any chance of an impending SUU-30 recast? I would dearly love a few sets of these.
-
Right subject, right scale! Looking forward to getting one of these.

Sorry for the necropost, but I figured this was better than starting a new thread. I stopped by Section 8 Hobbies in Buffalo recently, and they had a good selection of kits and supplies.

Where have you taken those from ? Are there more of them ?
The DoD metadata is there if you save the photos. For example, from the first one:
A U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker from the 340th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron refuels a USAF A-10 Thunderbolt II over Turkey in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Jan. 6, 2016. OIR is the coalition intervention against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Corey Hook/Released)
That and the image file name helped in the search for the originals. I could find them on DVIDS: Click here

Thanks for sharing these! So many A-10 loads - so few really great A-10 kits to put them on. I'm hoping for someone like Meng or Tamiya to come out with a more accurate, modern A-10A+/C kit.

-
Very nice looking!
-
Thanks, yardbird. I believe I know the Revell kit you mean. If it's the one I'm thinking of it was more of a YF-16 than an F-16A. Built it twice as a kid! Loved the engine you could put on the stand. Still has a decent, basic tow tractor and bar.

So sorry to hear that, Brian. Hope things get sorted out quickly so you and the Mrs. can be back in your own place.

Sorry, I already closed up all the gear bays. They have a moderate level of detail, but both Academy and Tamiya put more in their bays that Hasegawa did. The tool has to be 30 or more years old, so we are not talking about today's standards of modeling.
-
The sidewall detail is an improvement! I usually figure that if I need to look too hard to figure out if the detail I'm adding is correct, most of the other modeler's won't know either.
It's often better to add a little spurious detail to suggest something is going on than to leave it blank. -
This will be an in-flight display. The pilot is from Modern Hobbies.

Arms will be added later; I want to make sure I get the alignment right to touch both stick and throttle.
The seat is from a Tamiya F-16 that I am building in parallel. It is more detailed/accurate than the Hasegawa seat, but is meant to represent the later ACES II with pop-out pitot tubes on the headrest. I've added styrene card pitot horns, but still need to bend them down and do something about the parachute pack on top of the headrest.

Here are the intake parts. I sawed off the inner flat face of the intake so I can paint it white more easily. I'll then glue a black flat piece of plastic there to blank it off. The nose hear door has been glued in place. Time will tell how good the alignment is with the rest of the fuselage.

There are some minor gaps in the tail that I'm hoping some Mr. Surfacer 1000 is taking care of. I used Tamiya gray putty to fill the unneeded pylon holes in the wing. What that did not cover gets the Mr. Surfacer. I'm trying to minimize the amount of detail I wipe out with putty and sanding, so I've been wiping away the excess Mr. Surfacer while it is wet. This often takes away more than I need to, causing me to have to go back and put on more Mr. Surfacer later. I'm also deepening most of the panel lines, as the ones in the molded parts are somewhat soft.

Thanks for putting the APAM lightning bolts on the sheet. You may want to consider selling these separately in all scales 1/144 through 1/32, I know I'd buy some in 1/72.
-
How about some LAU-32 seven shoot rocket pods...
I'll second this motion - these can be hard to find in 1/72, but invaluable for building practice or combat loaded A-10s from almost any era of their operation.
-
Thanks - thought so.
Would you know if it is FS36320 all over?
Looks lighter to me - more like FS 36375.

I have a family with some issues of its own (but don't we all in some way?). I also appreciate the spirit of ARC to learn, share, and sometimes, just to relax.
Hang in there - best to you and your family.

Great news, Mark! Can we expect some more SUU-30s?
-
Nice brake lines and nozzle bits. Looking forward to the final results.
