IIRC, I think the Squadron in action book on the F-4 has a photo of an early F-4E (short gun muzzle) in Vietnam with a MER of snakeyes on the left outboard pylon.

You'll be getting my money as soon as the sheet as out.

I haven't had any issues with Firefox. I haven't tried it in IE since all the updates to the site.

I was at the Bears/Seahawks game yesterday and we got a post anthem flyover by a B-2. I couldn't get phone fast enough as the B-2 came over from behind me. That was a great sight.

All done. Finished it last week, just got time to do the pictures.

The chassis is done: and the body is ready for decal:

I didn't see that earlier but I see it now. All of the pictures I've seen of A-6's carrying MER's on the inboard stations only had 4 bombs loaded. Both inboard stations were empty IIRC.

The load would be fine for the A-6A except for the HARM's on the outboard wing stations. The A-6 started carrying them in the 80's. Otherwise, it looks really good.

More progress: I painted and assembled the interior: And then attached the roll cage: The body is primed and wet sanded smooth: and it's in the paint booth to get painted black.

I got the splitter and the decals from mikesdecals.com. Powerslide is his decal line and they are printed by Cartograph so the quality is outstanding. AMT released the generic kit a couple of years ago but they can be a little hard to find. I ordered this one directly from Round 2 (round2models.com), the parent company of AMT.

I believe they are flat black due to the pilots using NVG's in the cocpit.

I assembled the roll cage for the kit and well it's a bit simple: So I added more roll bars to it to get it closer to the real thing: and sent it to the paint booth. I also assembled the body and attached the nose clip: That went to the booth for a primer coat.

Starting another build that should be quick. Target - Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s #88 Batman Begins Chevy from Michigan last June: The kit is a generic AMT 2009/2010 stock car car with a resin nose clip and Powerslide decals:

Just about anything you use for paint removal will dechrome parts. I've also seen brake fluid used as well as EZ-Off and Castrol Super Clean.

I think the only pylons that are missing is the inner CFT pylon is one station short on each side. The outer pylons are all there as far as I know. I'd try scratch building an extension with a little bit of plastic strip and see how it looks. I'm at work now but I have an early kit at home. I'll dig it out when I get home and double check.

That's why I buy from newlangleyshop on Ebay. Much cheaper than get hosed by MRC.

I've seen Shrike's outboard, a Standard ARM on the inboard left plyon and tanks on the inboard right and centerline stations. I read that the dual Shrike launched was only tested stateside and never made it's way to SEA.

All done. The body is still not quite sitting the way I want it to but it's goo enough for now. On to the next entry...
