  1. First the cockpit.

Front IP has rather soft details, and blank instrument faces. Rear IP is visibly better - some instruments have gauges and other details are sharper. I think that aux consoles are at too shallow an angle. Throttle and stick don't have switches molded on. Most switches on the consoles are not very sharply molded.

But overall it looks pretty good to me when painted. Instruments need faces IMO, I'll have to look for some decals for them.

That tub looks great as regarding to detail painting, but should it really be black?

I don't know about the Israeli Vipers, but on all other F-16's I've seen, the tub and

IP is grey, with only the panels in black. Might be that the Israeli have it different

though. Could anyone shine a light on this?

  2. Ok, so here's tonights update, guys.

Drop tanks were Alclad:ed a few hours ago. On the bird I'm building,

the tanks were painted white. On pics I've seen, it looks like the white

paint didn't cover that well on the bottom of the tanks, and on their fins.

This I'll reproduce by simply sanding (very gently, with micro mesh) a

little, to bring back that airframe aluminium which is under the white.

Well, enough with the talking, here are the photos..! :)

    Comments? :)

  3. Well mate ... looking GOOOOOOD! Thanks for the tip bout the microfiller :P

    Thanks Pingo! :)

When will we see your builds up here..?

    Dude...looks terrific!

I use everytime Alclad grey primer & filler and works like a charm!!!!!

    It actually is awesome!

The work on your wingtank shows how great it does work!

    Cheers man

    Thanks a lot Jack!

Yeah, that primer/filler sure did the job! Put on the airframe aluminium just

now, and the tanks are smooth and shiny now! :salute:

Update with pics will come later tonight, just gotta get some more paint on.. :beer4:

  4. I bet you are, you lucky bastard..!! :worship: :)

There's no doubt among your viewers (me included) that the rest of this

build will keep up with that lovely pit! Just take your time and do it nice

and slow, and it'll be a masterpiece in the end. I rest assured of that.. :woot.gif:

  5. Inspired by JMan's frequent updates, I thought I'd make it with some

pics this evening as well (about 10:30 pm now, over here in Sweden..).

Did that Alclad grey primer & microfiller thing on those tanks, and boy

did they look ugly! All dressed up in a weird mix of gloss black and dusty,

flat grey.. :P On this pic you can actually see that trace of a seam, if you

look closely at the center section of the tank. That's what I wanted to get

    rid of!

    IMG_7483.jpg

Said and done, I gently sanded the primer down with my micro mesh cloths.

Then I put on another layer of the gloss black primer, and now there's

absolutely no trace of those seams! Mission accomplished! :woot.gif:

I know you don't really see it in those pics, but it'll show by tomorrow, when

I add pics with the Alclad aluminium put on them.. :worship:

    IMG_7484.jpg

Finally a pic of the fuselage once again. As can be seen in this pic, I've put

on the Tamiya Nato Black on IP coaming, and back in those holes inboard

of the flaperons. Right now I'm thinking of doing the whole fuselage in that

primer & microfiller, might just save me some time in the end. A few nice,

even coats of microfiller, followed up by some light sanding, then it'll be time

for the Tamiya white fine surface primer followed by that lovely red color..! :)

Oh yeah, fin tip yet to be added, just don't want to break that lovely little brass

pitot tube I've put on there. Same for the nose pitot tube, it'll be added and

blended at the very last stage of this build..

Comments are, as JMan says, welcome and wanted! :)

  6. Hey Niklas we will see when he will get some paint on those Drakens.......hehe! How about some progress on yours?? hehe!

Pics of mine will come in due time, JMan..

Sprayed some Alclad black primer on the fuel tanks today. When I took a closer

look at those seams, I noticed there were still some traces left. Aiming for a perfect

finish, I decided to add some Alclad grey primer & microfiller as well, to get rid of

all those traces. Hopefully that'll do the trick. If it's dry enough and smooth enough

when I micro-mesh them later tonight, I'll spray the aluminium as well. After that

you'll get some good pics, I assure you.. :woot.gif:

Managed to spray the instrument coaming with Tamiya Nato Black at least. Just some

dry brushing with grey, then I'll add the windscreen. Air intakes are added, blended into

the airframe, and rescribed as well.

That's pretty much it for now. As said, pics will follow, hopefully sooner that later..

  7. @ Najk:

    * Quite right about striving for the best. (got one myself as well, bit expensive but superb stuff !!!)

    * As for some nice lenses: 70-200mm, f/1:2.8 (around 1600 euro's...) // 300mm, f/1:2.8 (around 4600 euro's, including x2 Extender)

Thanx for the tip's on Your photography. I'm pretty capable to hold my own regarding "outdoor photography", but when it comes to indoor-stuff I'm a total numb-numb.

Sure would like to learn more about your "trick's". Looking forward to the tutorial this summer !

    "Check Six....."

    Spooky.

My WIP just turned into a freakin' sellers market! Nice..! :worship:

I've thought about that 70-200 as well, but right now the economy

just doesn't allow it.. :worship: But it sure is fiiiiine...!

No, on the outdoor photographing, you'll be the techer, and I the student,

and the other way around on modelling photography.. :worship:

If not sooner, when we visit it'll be warm enough for some paint on your

two (or more..?) Drakens, right..!? :salute:

  8. Now Janne, he got the point!!!!

go get a camera...so that we can see the real nature of your progress LOL LOL

    :P

I can sell you mine sothat you participate financing my new camera LOL LOL...at least would be a first step for ya...

Right on Jack, keep pushing him! Hopefully we'll get some decent pics of his

builds some day, pics that will do them justice..! :crying2:

  9. Hey Niklas, thats a nice sharp looking Draken! Cant wait till I can get one of those in my stash, but for right now I will suffice with my 32 scale SLUF!!!! Cant wait to see that beautiful bird all dressed up in red, even though Spooky says not too. I just think he is jealous that you have that paint scheme and he doesnt........hehe! Great job!

    Thanks JMan!! :P

Hasegawa's Draken is really nice, but there are some fit issues here and there. It doesn't

go together as well as the Tamiya F-16.. And no, Spooky won't get my decals.. :crying2:

Your SLUF is coming along really nice, the pit is just stunning!

  10. "Manfrotto", goooooooood stuff !!!

Always aim for the best, right..?! :crying2:

    "EOS-350D", sweet toy !!!

Well, just like you, I do want that EOS-1, but my wallet insist I don't as well.. :P

EOS-5 is still some years away, I'll aim for some fine lenses first, like the

    100-400IS USM.... :P

    Say Najk,

nice photo set-up !!! Just a few questions:

    * What kind of light do You use (regular bulb or "halogeen") ?

    * Do You adjust the white-balance/colour-temp settings beforehand or do You make correction via Photoshop ?

    * Do You also use an "additional" flash while taking the shot's ?

    "Check Six....."

    Spooky.

    P.S.: BTW, nice progress.

I just use those two spots on the sides. Those are halgeen ones, I think..

Usually I just set the white-balance on auto, then I adjust it in Ca-non's

Zoombrowser, when I do the RAW-conversion. Almost never adjust that

in PS, it's just to harsh for me.

No additional flash, just some exposure compensation on the camera, or

    via the RAW-conversion again.. :P

I'll bring my laptop for the airshow, then I'll show it to you.. :tease:
