What about a half-***ed mobile phone camera?
Now I've told you before, Janne, you go get one real camera ffs,
you hear me?!

Can't live with that cellphone s-h-i-t all your life.. :P
-
My cam is a Ca-non EOS 350D, so yes, to me it's a nice one. :)
Not a problem, my friend!
-
Ok Jack-Swiss, here ya go, there's my photo setup.
Just a blue cardboard backing (have a white as backup as well),
and some spot lights. The camera obviously goes on the tripod..

Now back to the Draken! Finished the flaps today, with some filling and sanding,
I managed to blend them in pretty well. At least I think I did, have to wait until
the primer is on, to see if I did a good job or not.. :P
Wing tips are also on by now. Next stage would be to paint the instrument panel
coaming, then glue on the windscreen and blend that one into the fuselage. Not too
long until she's ready for the paint booth...

Also glued the external fuel tanks today, and sanded the seam. Thought of a new
way to check seams actually, just took a Tamiya silver pen and "drew" over the
seam. You know metallic colors are just so unforgiving on those seams and scratches..
They turned out to be just fine, so now at least those tanks are ready for some paint!
Will do the "Alclad thing" later tonight.. Yes, I will sand off that silver before painting.. :P
Comments? :)

Sure you can, Jack! I'll make sure to include a photo of my setup next update,
which hopefully will be later today.. :D

Sweet Najk.
I remember seeing that Red Dragon flying over Erstaviken one day as kid.
Great choice
Best Regards
Bosse from Sweden
Tack Bosse!

Would have loved to see this one in the air, but I guess I just wasn't old
enough to pay that much attention back in those days. Perhaps it never
flew over Täby even... :D

Did I just read "Sister"...???!!!
Be sure to tackle her along when You come visit for the Airshow.
Who know's, we might even end up becoming family...
"Check Six....."
Spooky.
You're a sick, sick man, Spooky...! :D
By the way, you don't happen to have a sister as well..?

-
There's nothing left to be said that hasn't already been mentioned by others.
Simply a stunning model, with all those neat details that are supposed to be
there. Nice you went with the assymetric load as well. :D
Your photographing skills are just excellent, I couldn't tell it from a real jet
on those photos..
Excellent work!

-
Nope, no clear coat.. Never needed it before.. ;)
-
Come on prove them wrong!
;) You're a funny guy, JMan..!! :D
-
No dropped flaps set, I'm scratching it all..! ;)
Doesn't it show..?! :D
-
Agree with Spooky, those Japanese guys must be strange looking with
them long legs of theirs.. :D
Nice progress on that F-2, by the way... ;)
-
Thanks for the comments, guys..!
Nothing major done on this one, just painted the wheel bays.
Unfortunately some yellow came off when unmasking after
the belly painting, so I have some touching up to do before
decalling can begin.
But at least now she can stand on her own...! ;)

-
Ok guys, here's an update on this Draken build!
First of all; These are the decals I will use. The lovely TwoBobs sheet,
I'll do the completely red Dragon.

Started off with those gun inserts in the leading edge root extensions,
and boy what a poor fit! With lots of filling and sanding, I managed to
get them nice after all. Before pic of the left insert, and after pic of the
right one. Of course both are fixed.. ;)

Since I plan to do this bird with drooped flaps, I of course ended up
with a gap at the wing root, which of course had to be fixed! Quite a
unique look at that root, which got treated with some plastic card and
some fine drills. Looks good enough. :P

After all this, I've also glued on both wings and fin. They've gotten
filler and sanding treatment as well, so this birds is now progressing
fast towards the painting stage! Next step is to fit the flaps, and fix
those joints. This is where she's at now..

Lastly I thought I'd treat you with some petter pics of the pit... :)

Comments, critics and advice are more than welcome, so fire away!! :D

Thanks Spooky! I will take a look at that! Cant wait to finally see a good SLUF come out of our little mini GB! Cant wait see what you got cookin!
Don't get all that excited JMan, he still can't paint anything due to the temperature over there...! :)
I'm still waiting to see some paint on those Draken's of his...
You plumbing looks just excellent, nice going!
-
Daring move, but it turned out really great!
-
This whole build is just waaay too cool! Love the mix and
match of those kits, and I think the camo will be awesome!

-
Just found this thread, and I must say AWESOME..!!
That's a looot of Super Hornets..! And they are very well built
as well! Nicely done!! B)
-
Very nice progress, dude..! Ejector pin marks still are a pain in the ***,
but I'm sure you took care of it..! :P
This will for sure be one awesome build..!! B)

"Funny" to read that the big-issue seem's to have the same back-draw as their
midget-issue...
"Check Six....."
Spooky.
Yeah, it's rather strange, I think. One would have thought they should have
solved that issue by now. After all, they've had quite a few years since their
1/72 scale release to find a solution and make better molds.
Oh well, it still builds up to a really nice Draken, so I won't complain all that much.. :D
-
Wonder how much fluid one loses through snot? Doesn´t matter how much I drink I´m still dehydrated :D
That's just because you don't drink enough beer... :D

Thanx Najk, but I'm afraid that info is "useless" for me. The final goal will be to buils an A-7 next to an F-8.
Trumpeter only offers the A-7E and the F-8E. As for the A-7, I've already bought quite some
aftermarket stuff for this bird so I'm somewhat "commited" to an A-7E.
As for the F-8. Off course there surely will follow many after-market gadget's to convert this beautiful bird.
Surely I will buy some stuff to "upgrade" the initial Trumpeter effort. However, I'm not looking for a conversion-set
to alter the type into a "J" since such a set will most probably cost a fortune which I'm not willing to spent...
Fortenatly I still have quite some time to look into the matter. And then there's always the opppertunity to pose the
two bird's together using my "artistic license" and saying something in the end like "Jee, I didn't know that...!" :D
And so the search continues...
"Check Six....."
Spooky.
I almost expected you to say that, nevertheless I thought I'd share the information,
just in case you could alter those birds.. :D
Good luck with your search, if I stumble upon some evidence to this case, I will of
course let you know! Now back to the two Drakens... :)
-
Okidoki then...

I'll start doing some research for my build & open the WIP coming weekend.
As for the building-remark: I don't think You're that far off the mark. Sure, I'm
able to produce a nice clean build, yet I've still got lot's to learn !!! That's why
I hang out at ARC: to learn from You guy's !!!
"Check Six....."
Spooky.
P.S.: Anyone happen to know if the A-7E & F-8E ever served along-side on the
same carrier during the Vietnam conflict ???
Don't know about those to versions, but in a reference book I have at home,
there's a pic of an A-7A buddy refuelling an F-8J, both assigned to CVW-19 at
USS Oriskany. Photo taken in July 1970.
-
Gorgeous Niklas!!!
Did the tail cone give you any grief?
The tail cone don't fit all that well. It has a slight curve to the front, where
it connects to the fuselage. This is correct, when compared to photos, but
when fitted it gives a slight step, which for sure isn't there on the real one.
A little filling and sanding takes care of it pretty easy though..

-
Time for another of those lovely Drakens! This time it'll be a red one,
and the kit is Hasegawa, in 1/48 scale.
The cockpit is painted and ready, and fuselage is closed up. Tailcone
fitted, wings just dry fitted, along with the nose and fin. Should have
this one ready for painting in two weeks tops..

Looks great, as always Janne..! Nice with that "how-to" on the wash-thingy.
Will you finish this one before I finish my big Draken? That's the question to ask... :P
