  1. Hej Niklas, you painted engine inlet before you glue it to fuselage??For me it not look like a good idea - you´ll destroy that colours during fitting of it- it is the most difficult part of this kit...I also suggest to fit that inlet lip onto inlet tube before you will paint it (not like I did it), it is not very well engineered part of a kit...

BTW, as we talk about four Amraams and ALQ-131 pod (I have it on my model) later I found (and discuss it on F-16.net) more often config is 3 Amraams (two A´s and one new model) plus one sid 9M on ALE 50 target pylon - take a look on Airliners pics, it is hardly to see on these pics, but 4 AIM´s are not on them

But during discussion was revealed, that 40 120´s is not impossible - so I am satisfied, what I want to say is that 3 120´s as asymetric load out is more interesting

Hey Pavel, thanks for all the "heads up" on this! I've test fitted the intake quite a few times now, and it looks like I can fit it right in there without filler och scratching something up. I'll post some pics of it as soon as it's done. I did only paint the inside of the intake lip before attaching it to the intake, so I could fill and sand on the outside. I dry-fitted the inside and it was a good enough fit for me. :woo: But I DO agree. the intake fitting isn't the best out of the box...

Perhaps I'll just have to "borrow" one more AIM-120 from my other Tamiya kit then.. :) I read a few days ago that Thunderbirds will be flying the block 52 from 2009 season, maybe the other one will be made as one of those... :( I'll look around at Airliners.net to find some good loadout reference pics, thanks! Are there always two AIM-120A and one AIM-120B/C? Or can there be three B/C's..?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  2. Not a critique of you, but of Hasegawa. The IP decal is for a AV-8B day attack. The night attack and radar versions have dual MFDs (the major difference) and some other small differences as well. Hasegawa got it wrong in their kit.

    But your work looks good.

Oh darn, there it was for being a "quick" build.. :P Maybe I'll just have to get the Aires pit for the next one.. :P Thanks for the pointers and nice comments! :)

  3. Got some paint on my Harrier today, the first of three grey shades. Tried to tone down the pre-shade a little,

don't want this bird to look too dirty. When I prepared her for painting yesterday I found out I hadn't decided

whether to put strakes or gun pod on. I ended up going with the gun pod. What would a CAS aircraft be

    without its gun pod?! :D

  4. Just found this thread, and I've been "catching up" for the past 20 minutes.

This build is just awesome, I must say! Really great job there, Steven!

I'm amazed at your skill and determination for this build. Keep it up, looking

    forward to more pictures!

  5. Time for an update now on this bird. It's been a slow progress, but today I got some parts painted.

Did some preshading with Tamiya Nato Black, then I painted the fin and intake in Gunze H306 (FS 36270).

The Tamiya painting guide suggests this bird would be in the three tone grey, but according to my pictures

it seems like two tones, hence the light grey fin..

I've also pre-shaded the upper fuselage. Lower will have to wait a little bit, still have som bits to add.

    Comments? :bandhead2:

  6. Well.. The only major problem was fitting the LERX in front of the wing, and that wasn't that difficult. A little gap on the radar nose as well, but nothing major. It is a fun kit to build, and shouldn't take too long, if you put a little effort into it..

  7. Hey guys,

I've got this Harrier on the bench right now, getting ready for its camouflage painting. Started with the cockpit early in september, and quite fast I had the fuselage together, but then it came to a halt. Now I've realised I'm in quite a hurry if I'm gonna finish the kit on this side the new year, since I'm going away for christmas.. :D

Did some pre-shading yesterday, along with some white on a few selected panels. It's the first time pre-shading like this for me, so now I just hope it'll work out as planned.. :D As I was shooting some photos, I noticed the windshield (is that the correct term?) wasn't on yet, which I of course will have before painting.

No aftermarket goodies whatsoever, as this was intended as a "fast build". Now you all know what happened.. :P

    Comments? Critics? Advice? :)

  8. Hey guys,

I've been looking all over the internet for the Hasegawa F/A-18B "Top Gun" kit in 1/72 scale, but I can't find it.

Does anyone have one for sale, or maybe at least the decals? Or an idea of where I can get it? :coolio:

    All help is appreaciated!

    Best regards,

    Niklas from Sweden
