  1. I was thinking it may be a better option to purchase a Academy F-14A Bombcat kit and use the weapons from the kit, it may be a better option vs purchasing 2 Hasegawa weapon sets.
  2. Looking for feedback from others who have purchased/built this kit. Can pick this up for pretty cheap now. Heard the stock cockpit/seat is pretty darn good. What is the rest of the kit and fit/detail like? What are the weapons like? Is it worth the current $60.00 Canadian?
  3. I have read even though Hasegawa has released F-14B kits they really are not accurate as they do not provide the proper launch rails, lantirn pod, etc. So if I want to build an accurate F-14B should I purchase a F-14A kit or F-14D kit and purchase the Avionix F-14B Deluxe Set #48019? If I want to build an accurate F-14D will purchasing the Hasegawa F-14D kit do the trick (plus adding a Avionix F-14D cockpit set as well)?
  4. Opinions: BB/Avionix F-14A or Aires F-14A cockpit set, which is better? Does one fit better than the other or have more detail than the other?
  5. I thought Black Box made a F-14A cockpit set? Every where I have looked all suppliers only offer F-14B and F-14D cockpit sets in BB or the new Avionix boxing.
  6. What wedsite is meteroprods? No model stuff here, all camera stuff?
  7. Looking for internet on line hobby stores (pref in Canada) that carry Black Box/Avionix resin cockpit sets?
  8. Yes I support Ed, only local hobby shop left in our tri-city area and he usually has the best prices. What is Hammertown? Are these model stores?
  9. I live in Canada, Kitchener. I have 2 local hobby shops, then I have one in London and a couple in Toronto. Lowest priced Hasegawa 1/48 F-14 kit I have ever seen is $69.99. Ebay does not have a F-14 kits in 1/48 right now, and most sellers are in the U.S., by the time I pay shipping and handling, etc, it is not worth it.
  10. Well my local hobby shop usually has the F-14 kits priced at $84.99 and they are on sale for $62.99, they have a A and a D in stock, so maybe I will take the plunge and pick one up tomorrow. At least I know what I am in for and what to expect as far as fit and work that needs to be put into the kit, so it will come as no shock or suprise.
  11. I have always wanted to build one of these kits but now that I have read in full David Aungst Hyper Scale features on these kits and the fit problems and all the work that goes into them I am trying to understand how Hasegawa sells these kits as I would assume most people don't want to put that kind of elbow grease into a kit and to make things worse the kits are not cheap either!!!! That aside (sorry just had to get that out) is the kit cockpit that bad????? I usually use Hasegawa 1/48 kit cockpits as I find with good weathering and painting they look pretty damn good and I don't really l
  12. I thought the A-7E Late uses a different seat than the A-7E Early?
  13. Looking for the name of the ejection seats for the following: - A-4 Skyhawk Ejection Seat - A-7E Late - Harrier Who are these 1/48 resin ejections seats available from...True Details the best bet?

    P-47 Cowling

Has anyone heard of an after market one peice cowling for the Hasegawa P-47D kit? I don't know what they were thinking with this mould but I have 2 of these kits and can not get the 4 peice cowling together to my satisfaction. I have heard this same complaint from other modelers and reviewers of this kit. So I assumed some company out there in the after market world would jump all over this opportunity.
  15. Has anyone tried to fit this into the Trumpeter kit? I have heard the Black Box (Avionix) cockpit set fits perfect but it is for the early A-7E I was just wondering how good the Aires A-7E late cockpit set fits into this kit?

    A-7E Late

Can someone please advise what I need to purchase to make the Trumpeter A-7E kit into a late version, I believe I need the Aires Cockpit Set as it is for the late version is it not and the Black Box is for the early? I would like to do a low vis desert storm scheme, anyone know of decal companies that make these sheets?
  17. Located a Hasegawa 1/32 A-4E "Golden Dragons" kit #8131, date on the box indicates 2001. I am trying to verify if this kit has raised or scribed panel lines. I am receiving contridicting information. Does anyone have or seen the contents of this kit and can verify for me please.
  18. Looking for feedback on this kit and how good it is...pro's...con's? Also would appreciate if anyone can direct me to any on line builds of this kit.
  19. Thanks for all the advice guys. What really blows me away is that with 1/32 kits (Jets) you get everything you need, like Trump kits, photo etch for the ejection seat, all the underwing stores you could want, nice decals, so you may only have to buy another decal sheet if you don't like what comes in the box. 1/48 jets (Hasegawa) you don't get the PE and all the missles and bombs and now you have to buy a resin seat(s), PE, Hasegawa missle/bomb kits and it cost you way more to build a smaller scale jet. For example (I will use Canadian Dollars as I live in Canada) I go to my local hobby sh
  20. Does the Hasegawa 1/32 A-4 kit is it scribed or raised detail?
  21. Looking for some advice on what kit I should select to build my first 1/32 jet. Only have built 1/48 to date. Was thinking of Trumpeter A-7E, Academy F-16CJ heard it is not very accurate, can't afford the Tamiya one though. Recommendations and feedback much appreciated.
  22. Fantastic job on the Hog, love it. I just started to build this kit and could I please ask how much nose weight you added to the kit?
  23. Is there something that can be added to Tamiya Putty to keep it more workable and softer longer? I find it dries out really fast and makes it hard to work with sometimes.
  24. Hi Jon, I noticed your Mirage III picture in the Tools/Tip section under Washes and it looks amazing. Do you mind if I ask what kit you used and what kind of paints and colors did you use.

    Washes

I really appreciate all the tips and advice. I did some tests with old kits that had lots of engraving in them. First I sprayed Gunze Dark Ghost Grey and then applied 3 layers of thin Future. I only waited an hour and then applied Model Master Burnt Umber wash highly thinned with Testors Brush cleaner, left that for an hour and then removed with Q-Tips using the Testor brush cleaner than flat coated, no problems at all. So my question is why do most modelers wait 24 hours between painting, gloss coating, washing, removing wash, I had no problems at all only using 1 hour intervals. I did t
