  1. The Queensland Model Hobby Expo (QMHE) opened its doors in Brisbane this morning. Here are a few shots I grabbed while people were setting up this morning. Apologies for the poor quality, I was in a hurry and forgot to adjust camera settings If you're in Brisbane this weekend stop in...
  2. Ralph Riese entered a number of models including the French Spitfire and P-47. He also entered a 1/48 Beaufighter and some armour pieces. Most of the WWI stuff I photographed was built by Brad Cancian (does he go by the name Gambler here?). Pete Olsen had some nice stuff in the 1/32 scale aircraft category as well. For a small show by international standards, QMHE is incredibly fortunate that some really talented modellers live locally and regularly enter the show.
  3. QMHE is usually held in the Table Tennis Centre, Green Tce, Brisbane - not far from the central business district. The show is typically held in the third or fourth week of August each year. Details can be found online at www.qmhe.com.
  4. Some pictures from the QMHE show in Brisbane - finishes today - QMHE 2010 - nzdavidh's pictures
  5. Hi Holmes Thanks for your feedback. The facebook link works but only for those with an existing account (or who are happy to create one) - something I didn't think through particularly well... I've now loaded my QMHE photos to a gallery which should be accessible by all nzdavidh's QMHE 2010 gallery
  6. A few photos from the QMHE exhibition which opened in Brisbane this morning. There are more photos on my Facebook page for those that are interested. David's Model Pages David's Model Pages on Facebook
  7. Beautiful photo. Lets hope the museum paint the fuselage band and spinner sky not the light blue I used (after following the Aeromaster instructions). I just had a look through the website - some great photos there. Nice to see photographic proof a skeleton was painted on both sides of the aircraft - IIRC, Aeromaster were unsure about that, so left it to the builder to guess whether to apply the decals to both sides.
  8. Thanks. I tend to wipe models with spirits before painting anyway - which removes any markings I've added to aid construction and keys the surface for paint... those markings are already gone in the second bunch of photos.
  9. Some progress shots... cockpit installed and nose section attached to fuselage. Wish I'd read StrikeEagle's post about not needing nose weights before I'd reached this point... I'll just have to pray the kit nosegear is fairly strong. And a shot for comparative purposes... my 1/48 Hurricane is dwarfed by the Eagle I've just noticed that intake is quite seated right... doh
  10. Yeah, that or the President's After Action Report <_<
  11. Some early progress shots of my F-15E build. First off though, a huge thanks to those who offered assistance when I posted to earlier regarding the cracked canopy. Great news, I have a replacement courtesy of ixgr1 Seats/cockpit -painting started ... some weathering etc to go. Not too bad for kit parts I tackled the top wing join before doing anything else - ignored instructions and glued top wing to fuselage before attaching lower wing. This ensured a pretty good fit I repositioned the tailplanes to give it a little more character (hence the notes to self about which is left and righ
  12. For those that are interested, the 3 sqn memorial page to the crew of 06 can be found here http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/gr...105401582836833 The photogallery includes photos of 06 and many other RNZAF hueys. It also includes photographs of the aircrew taken by colleagues and friends and is a great tribute to them.
