  1. The AM kits are pretty good, IMHO, fit wise and the detail is pretty good. The only issue I ever heard of with them was something to do with the front of the engine cowl, but can't recall what it was. I also seem to recall there was one or two resin aftermarket items produced that corrected the issue.
  2. Was finally able to get to the website but, for me at least, its running a little slow. Would say it might be the computer I'm using but the Hannants site is the only one I'm having a problem with.
  3. Any issues with the Hannants website? Tried a couple of times today but can't get the website to open.
  4. Think late in their careers the F-89s were painted in ADC grey. I remember when I was stationed @ Eglin in the early 80s there were a few parked on the far side of the runway @ Duke Fld and they were all painted ADC grey. Being an SP I had access to this side of the air field as I patrolled the base so got to take a close look at them. As for the orange flight suits, spit shined boots and the spiffy paint job and neat appearance of the a/c, it makes me wonder if it participated in something like a William Tell or similar type competition.

    Jugs in color

seen small bits of the second one before but not all of it, or the first one.
  6. You mean the TF Mk X they released late last year? Its available on the Hannants website for $44.20. Its not listed on either the Sprue Brothers or Squadron sites though, probably 'cause Revell doesn't yet have a US distributor.
  7. Anyone know how the B-17F on display near the SAC Gate faired?
  8. Yeah, I watched it the other day. The one thing I wished they would have covered though was how the kit molds are made, 'caused it skipped from the CAD phase and then injection molding phase.
  9. Thanks, and cheers to you as well.
  10. This is a new pic on the NAVSOURCE website that states it was taken on the hanger deck of the USS Wasp (CV-7) on 3 May 1942. What caught my eye is the additional bulges on top of the wings near the roundels of these three Spitfire Mk. VCs, which are in addition to the normal bulges over the gun bays. I've never noticed them before on other pics of this mark and am wondering if they were particular to the marks armed with four 20mm cannons or just this particular batch.
  11. Been to these state side museums: USAF, Naval Aviation, Robins Museum of Aviation, the Eglin Armament Museum, The Patriot Point Naval Museum and the Fantasy of Flight Museum and they're all pretty good. I've also been to these UK museums: Shuttleworth Collection, the RAF Museum and IWMs @ Duxford and in London and they were all amazing.
  12. 1. 1/48th (and 1/72nd) A-26K Counter Invader 2. 1/144th early model B-52 (B thru F) 3. 1/48th (and 1/72nd) B-66 Destroyer 4. 1/48th late war B-26 Marauder (F & G) 5. 1/72nd Avro Lincoln Honorable mention: B-47, B-32, LB-30, P-66 & P-43
  13. Read somewhere else there is an issue with the "airfoil"! Didn't say what was/are the issue(s) nor if it's concerning the main wings, horizontal stabilizers or tail planes, it just said "airfoil". I also noticed over on Hannant's they are selling it for about $100 less than Squadron is ($158+ vs $250+).
  14. Did the USN or USMC ever consider following the USAF lead and adopt a version of the F-4E?
  15. Looks like a Mk IIA and it doesn't look like North Africa, besides, it's missing the Volkes air filter. The one thing I'm curious about though is the white square under the port wing, which has the German insignia applied over it. It could be the pic, but it also looks like there was some other insignia in the square before the German one was added.
  16. Sarcasm😉? Anywho, the T-50 is a tested & proven design, which, from what I've read, is one of the reasons why the MH-139 won. In addition, design work on the AW-139 (on which the MH model is based) began in 1997 and its first flight was in 2001. Besides a USAF T-50 variant probably could have had an in service date a lot sooner than the one expected for this new bird.
  17. An F-35B from VMFA 501 crashed near Beaufort, SC this morning. Thankfully the pilot ejected and was being checked by medical personnel and there were no civilian injuries.
  18. Remember when they came up with this "new" fighter, based on the F-5!
  19. Had to type arcair.com to get to the main page, as opposed to the last time when I just had to type aircraft resource center and went from there.

    B-17G #42-31412

Based on some of the pics of aircraft in you link I would venture to say it had non-staggered waist gun positions, as does you other aircraft. The easiest way to tell is if the starboard side waist position is before the national insignia and almost directly under the fuselage mounted antenna, then the aircraft has staggered waist guns, so yes, both the aircraft you mention have the normal, non-staggered waist positions.
  21. Just tried to go to the ARC main page and got a dating site web page.
  22. After reading an article on Wiki about the use of Vultee Vengeance in RAAF service during WW2, I would like to vote for a 1/48th scale kit of this type in all its versions.
  23. Any guesses as to what the colors are on the F-84G, which was apparently assigned to the 492nd FS at Chaumount-Semoutiers, France between 1952 & 1954? It's not a very good color pic, but to me it looks like three shades of grey (medium & dark upper surface & light on the lower).
