  1. Nope, its just misunderstood technology. 😉
  2. Gonna second P4M Mercator & early versions of the P2V Neptune in 1/72nd scale. Also like to add the Martin AM-1 Mauler and Ryan FR-1 Fireball, in both 1/72nd & 1/48th scale, to the list.
  3. I just checked Hannants web site & they're showing 20+ in stock and their price is $49.05, shipping not included. I've been buying from them for years and only had one issue with a shipment, in fact my last order (two of the new tooled 1/72nd PT-109s) arrived w/in two weeks of my placing the order, so I highly recommend them.
  4. Got me one of these kits the other day and I must say it's a big improvement over the 45+ year old version of PT-109. Heck, it even includes some interior parts for the day room and chart house. Only draw back is no crew figures, but no biggie as I got a couple of the older kits in my stash.
  5. looks likes names are Maj Ralph Merz and AIC Steve Russel
  6. USAF versions were pretty dull when it came to color options, they were either overall natural metal or had a white tops with a blue cheat line. The ones used by the USN/USMC were pretty colorful, being white with either red or red orange noses, wing tips and tails.
  7. Early and late war version Elco 77ft & Higgins 78ft PT-Boats in 1/72nd & 1/48th scale 70 & 72ft version Vosper MTB in 1/72nd & 1/48th scale (maybe BPB MTB/MGBs also) 1/72nd scale US 110ft sub chaser 1/144th scale Allen M. Sumner DD 1/35th scale M2 light & medium tanks 1/48th B-18A & B (inc the ASW version) 1/72nd B-32 Dominator
  8. What's the best and easiest way to hand paint the burnt metal area of the rear fuselage of the F-100? FYI, at best, my airbrushing skills and options are pretty limited. Thanks.
  9. Anybody got the new tooled 1/72nd scale PT-109 from Revell yet?
  10. I'm saying its apparently new 'cause, to me at least, it looks different from the last time I visited the site, which was a couple of months before Revell USA went under. Oh, and I was able to order two of those new tooled PT-109 kits from Hannants.
  11. So I was browsing through the apparently new Revell website a little bit ago and decided to buy a couple of the new tooled 1/72nd PT-109 kits. However, when trying to check-out I found the only countries they apparently ship to are in Europe and not anywhere else in the world. Any reason why, or am I missing something?
  12. Well, it was announced today that, as stated my Moose135, the Thunderbirds will not be appearing at the Charleston Air & Space Expo.
  13. Saw a few Vulcan flying displays when I was stationed in England in the early '90s and they were pretty awesome!
  14. The Thunderbirds are scheduled for their first show since the crash this Saturday, 28 Apr, at the Charleston Air Expo, which is also the first open house/airshow to be held at Charleston AFB since 2011. Hopefully the weather will co-operate, as everyday the chance of rain for Saturday keeps creeping up.
  15. Its a good thing he punched out 'cause one pic I saw on a news site said it went through a security fence/gate and the nose and cockpit was completely torn off and not seen anywhere in the pic.

    New Airfix B-26

Is the new 1/72nd scale Airfix B-26B Marauder, kit # A04015A, a new tool or a re-issue of their older kit?
  18. you know the old saying: If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it!
  19. Funny when you google SUU-11/A minigun pod you get a lot of pics of various types of a/c that carried them and of some of the aftermarket stuff available, but very few pics of the actual thing. What I was able to find seems to be dependent on which branch was using them, 'cause I've found a pic of one on USMC/USN Bronco that looks white (or whatever the under fuselage color is), but I found one on a USAF A-1 that looks light grey, but also one on a different USAF A-1 that looks OD.
  20. I've run into an issue with Norton in that it will not let me run a full system scan, so I'm in the market for a new program. Any suggestions as to what is the best on the market today, free or otherwise? Thanks in advance. JM

    Airfix Sea Fury

Kinda glad I didn't order on yet, maybe later when they release the "foreign users" version, which will hopefully fix the issue with the tail. I can live with the panel lines issue by maybe running a panel line scriber over them a couple times. I also saw a video review of their new B-25C/D on YouTube and the reviewer mentioned an issue with the viewing clarity on a couple of pages of the instructions. He also was curious as to why the waist area has glass panels inserts which incorporates the two small windows in them & this leads me to wonder if there's a future release
  22. I think so, he was with the 196th FS and they had the blue band with stars on all four corners of the band.
