  1. It's interesting to remark, - there are really some steps on the sides of fuselage but if to build the model as it is. These steps completely disappear if to correct the nose as recommended :D
  2. I have done some research on this question extra and can confirm now that the kit forward fuselage actually needs in the correction as mentioned above. There's a number of pictures below to show how the forward fuselage matches a print of the real aircraft after such correction. A basic photo to start comparison. The print of the forward fuselage in 1/48 scale (on the diameter of the radome cone (2.35 mm) to be taken as a basic dimension) Forward fuselage after it was filed down as mentioned above. And with the radome cone to be attached Forward fuselage after the correction to
  3. Of my personal observations. The radome cone fits at a slightly wrong angle if to build the kit out-of-box, - in my view, this cone is little too lowered. Also the nose is a bit too long. In order to fix this issue all you need to do is to file down the cut of fuselage as shown After this simple procedure the cone should fit at the proper position and without any steps on the sides of fuselage. Note, I haven't made any measurements with this observation (this is my visual observation only), therefore this issue may be checked again if neccessary. Dmitri
  4. Yes, this set is not of easiest to apply, but all works OK if not to be in a hurry while you adjust the parts. Also don't forget about a tip as mentioned above (to remove the gun bay at all) if you build the model with the gun bay closed, - removing this bay works best for this option.
  5. No, you are not quite right. Some detail will always be sacrifices when applying similar sets and if a set is not simple at all (look at my F7F-3N correction set, for example). Of course, complexity of the F-105 part with the opened gun bay had added problems in producing this set, - it was hard to make and then is hard to cast. And finally, an especial care is needed to fit this left half to the fuselage. Note, my initial idea was to produce this set with a gun bay permanently closed. But later I found it possible to add open gun bay to follow the shape of the original kit, all the same.
  6. To be frank, just I looked at the pictures above I was a bit afraid myself, - scribing actually looks terribly at these photos. However, these pictures are made under artificial lighting and shadows at these photos are too contrasty. There is a photo of the same part under natural lighting below. Probably panels lines are not perfect here, indeed, but not so terrible in actuality. However, if a perfection of panel lines is a prior aspect for you then you certainly need to keep your model completely intact, - don't forget, please, that this set is intended to correct the general shape of the no
  7. Sorry, I did not notice it sooner. DMold sets are available from AirDOC company (Germany) now as well. Contact with them, please, to know details. Regards, Dmitri
  8. Yes, photos of this F-18 set from Chuck came along in this thread without any clear comments before. Now I can confirm that this particular F-18 set is unquestionably counterfeit as well. Aside from their ugly general sight there's an obvious sign that this set is fake as well. A couple of additional casting fences (shown with the red arrows at this comparison photo) have NEVER been at my original parts as well. Final note, free sales of any DMold Modelworks sets have been started direct from me from a recent time. There are few forced restrictions in this offer but if you are interested
  9. Only person at the present time who could clarify the question with all these fake copies is Paul Miller only. But he keeps silent. I was contacting with him few days ago as well but all he found possible to report was:"I was ordering DMold's sets from many distirbutors, don't remember were I got the shipments in this summer from and I don't have any records of my deals". The latter statement was especially interesting to hear from a person who are making over $11.000 sales for three months. However, such answer from his end was quite expected and such comments are absurd at every aspect in a
  10. This set is OK. But if you don't want to bid on ebay then a new shipment of such sets (but limited by 10 sets only) will be en route to the Victory Model shop in a coule of days. More shipments will follow little later. As to investigation, - it continues and probably will be open here in few days as well. Seller of these pirated sets from ebay is known. His name is Paul Miller, from Mansfield, Texas, USA (buster340 on ebay) and he was selling these sets as "buy it now" through all the summer and before it. All is needed to be found out yet is who was actual supplier of these sets to ebay. R
  11. As the creator of all DMold Modelworks sets and owner of the company I was a bit shocked and concerned to discover that some supplier, unknown so far, sells "DMold Modelworks sets" via E-bay's auction site. I need to caution everybody that these sets (1/32 F-4, 1/32 F-18 and 1/48 F-4 intake sets, at least) are not original products of mine and just pirated copies, casted and completed by someone else. I will be updating this thread as soon as I get new facts on this question. Meanwhile, you can see details at this thread Regards, Dmitri
  12. It seems, doesn't... Thanks you for this new friendly info! These 1/48 sets you got are obviously the same pirated copies as well. You say you purchased only one set from this supplier. And who was a seller for another two sets? Advise me, please, via PM or directly here. Dmitri
  13. Yes, I used to ship these sets in resin of light cream color before, therefore I missed this question. But what's seen in clear is the fillet which is remaked with the red arrows here, - this fillet is a clearest sign that these parts have never been shipped from here and were casted outside the DMold's resin shop. So, it will not be a mistake to call a name of this E-bay seller here. It will be needed in order to caution the community, at least, that if someone purchases this set from this seller then he gets a pirate copy from this source, not an original DMold set. Regards, Dmitri
  14. Thanks for posting the photos, Terry, - all is favorable comparison for my product. However, I'm a bit shocked and concerned with this thread on now. I must say that the "DMold set" presented at these photos IS NOT original of mine! This is clearly a PIRATED copy! ALL the original intakes I have ever shipped do not have any fillets along the rear surface and look EXACTLY as presented at my site! Neddless to say, such pirate copies may not be of the same quality as the original sets are. Thus, I must CAUTION now, - ANY original DMold sets may be purchased from Victory Models, NA-Hobbies,
  15. Ben, there's an opinion among a lot of modelers (including me) that there're no optical illusions and the forward fuselage of F-105D MMI kit actually doesn't look right. But you are certainly right to say that reasons of this inaccuracy are very subtle and hard to catch. Radome cone, yes, - this is the first, and the most obvious reason to see. But if to file down this cone to a proper shape, or in other words, to limit correction with this action only, then overall length of the forward fuselage becomes about 5-6 mm less. So, this is not a solution of the problem (incomplete solution, at l
  16. You are right in some sense, Ozzie,- there are not ultimate parts on the photos. These parts have actually got some subtle correction during further construction and castings in resin look as here, at these ultimate photos. Regards, Dmitri
  17. No, Dave, I don't think I will take care about this 1/32 kit in the near future. This project was being considered as well but later, becouse of a number of reasons, I have refused from this idea. Dmitri
  18. No, Mike, I can't produce too many sets and prefer to ship most of them for retail to special model shops. However, I can consider some special orders and fill them if I find it possible. But generally, retail is not business of mine. Regards, Dmitri
  19. All the intake sets are in the inventory, Doug. These sets in assortment will be shipped along with the new stuff just I get them from a resin shop, in a week or so. Dmitri
  20. It's a little strange but nobody has noticed a problem with the Hasegawa 1/48 F-8s nose gear up to this moment. The nose gear in these kits is heavily over-sized in reality and looks more like a mastodon than a true-scale part! I was looking at pictures of completed models and could not understand what was wrong with these models, - the whole forward fuselage has looked a bit too heavy and pretty crude for my eyes. But then I finally realized the problem , - the nose gear has been obviously a major reason of such unpleasant illusion. Comparison with the same parts from the MMI kit, and then
  21. Currently, nobody carries my products in Europe. There's a certain interest in partnership from AirDOC company in Germany but no products were actually shiped them so far. If something changes with this business I will notice it, to be sure. For a while, you can check latest updates at my site (it is opened again) to see the F-105 sets and another products in their current status. Regards, Dmitri
  22. Thanks for the kind words, Gene, - I appreciate your comments! Meanwhile, I can report that the work on the same set for the MONOGRAM KIT has been started on now well. On today I do have the molded basic parts for this kit and the photos below demonstrate this set in progress. Now it's good time to engrave the comprehensive surface detail and then it should be manufactured as well. Most likely, this set will be available from distributors in October, with the shipments coming next after September's. Longmc, no, Mike, I don't plan to produce TP I intakes for the Academy F-111 before
  23. Well. Although making a completely new master is neccessary to release this idea, about the same set will be manufactured for the Monogram kit as well. Obviously, it will be simplified in comparison with the set for HB kit, but accordingly a bit cheaper, of course (SRP for the HB set will be 16.00 Euro). As to "distribution system", - yes, I'm not very pleased as well how this system works, but I ship exactly the same quantity of sets as distributors order, and usually they don't risk to put too large orders on some particular set. Regards, Dmitri
  24. Hi Mike, I sitll did not discuss this question with Steve and Bob (my major retailers who run NA-Hobbies and Victory Models), but I think these sets (along with the Nimrod corrected nose and YES , - 1/48 RAFALE profiled intake sets!) will be available from them at about the end of September or so. As to this particular F-105D nose, - I still have some problems with perfect castings of these parts, but I think I should solve these minor casting problems during nearest few days. So, all is about to be mass produced, - just a little wait Cheers! Dmitri
  25. Concerning older Monogram kit, - no, unfortunately the kits by MMI and HB are pretty different and this set shouldn't fit the model by Monogram. Also the gun, refueling probe and their hatches will not be included in this set. All this makes using this set for the veteran MMI kit impossible. Regards, Dmitri
