  1. I don't know them, but I thought this was worth sharing. Laid off men build models to honor military anniversaries December 05, 2011 5:08 PM KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Laid off and between jobs, two Kalamazoo County men have been learning on each other and their hobby to get through. Mike Fitzgerald and Larry Atkinson started building military models in 2004. Then they decided to do something special for the 65th anniversary of the end of World War Two, and they did. One thing led to another and now Fitzgerald's basement is full of hundreds of perfect little replicas of
  2. :) I've been wearing progressives for about 10 years and have had good luck with them. Took a few weeks to get used to. After wearing them for a couple of years, my eye doctor and I decided to try bifocal contacts. I've been using them ever since. I only wear my glasses in the evening to read the paper, work on models, etc. With plenty of light, I could wear the contacts and have no problems working on my models and other things. I got the contacts primarily because I have to wear safety glasses at work and didn't like the prescription ones. Maybe they'd be worth a try. Rich
  3. :D A new Hobbytown USA is opening this weekend in Kalamazoo, MI. It's location is on West Main (M-43) near the Maple Hill mall area, it must not be too far from the Hobby Lobby. Can't wait to check it out. Nice to see a new business start up, especially in Michigan.
  4. Matt: DO NOT use an old acetylene bottle for air. The acetylene is, of course, extremely flammable and trapped inside a ceramic in the tank and also I believe there is acetone in the tank to keep the gas in solution. I don't believe you will ever get all of the acetylene out and therefore creating a hazardous situation. Better off buying one of those portable air tanks for filling tires, etc. You can usually refill them for free at a filling station or someone that has an air compressor. I've heard that CO2 works very well because it is dry and won't get moisture in your paint.
  5. I sprayed up some parts with MM Aluminum last night and they were dry this morning. I thinned the paint three parts paint to one part thinner (mineral spirits). Using an Aztec airbrush and gray tip. Looks like the paint went down fine without any drying problems.
  6. You can use another regulator in-line with the one on the compressor and you can probably get one with the moisture separator from Lowe's or Menards fairly cheap. They would also have adapters.
  7. I also bought one of those sets and although I'm pretty new at this photoetch stuff, it looks pretty nice. In fact if it works out, I'd like to get another. I haven't been able to find this set anywhere else but Ebay.
