  1. There are 13 different configurations for the ALQ-167 pod, the one with two probes on the front was common for the Tomcat. Reddog
  2. For the fuselage stations (stations 5 and 7) AIM-120 or nothing. The EA-18G Growler is being kept strickly as an electronic jammer bird, 120's are for defensive purposes only. Reddog
  3. No, by the time of OIF and OEF the M1A1 Daisy Cutters had been removed from inventory. Reddog
  4. IIRC F11F-1 Tigers served as trainers latter in their life. Reddog
  5. That was common with the Mikes when we where parked on the fantail (which was always) but instead of being locked onto the stack they where locked onto the birds (F-18's) in the six pack. We just cupped our hands over the nose to check them and then called them good. Reddog
  6. flashlites worked just as well and blew out the aircrew's ears also. Limas in 77 sound right to me. Reddog :)
  7. Off the top of my head I would say no to the SHARP Pod. Reddog <_<
  8. Same color as the fuselage. slight lip between the filler and fuselage, also the exhuast cone. Reddog
  9. To my knowledge there are no plans to clear it and no reason to, the E/F's are taking care of the tanking duties just fine. As to why it's not going to be cleared, I don't know. I've given up trying to understand why the DOD does/doesn't do something, I like my sanity too much. Reddog
  10. GBU-8's where Air Force only, Navy didn't carry them. Reddog :)
  11. No, buddy stores are not cleared on the G. Reddog :)
  12. All Navy TA-7C's has that area filled, it was not filled on the single seaters though. Reddog :)
  13. Their clearance is still in the book so they may have gotten their hands on a few with the blessing of the program office. Will be at the meeting Thursday. Reddog
  14. Yep, that looks like a CATM to me. Reddog
  15. I can't tell either but ALL IR Mav's were pulled in 04,along with their flight clearances. Reddog
  16. All IR Mavericks where restricted to P-3's in Sept 2004. Reddog
  17. Craig hit it perfectly but the HUD to add; the projector lens was green, no yellow. It projected straight onto the center windscreen, there was no "combiner" glass or anything, just the center windscreen. The HUD "Box" (ie avionic box) was black. I never heard it called the VDIG though, we just called it the HUD. Reddog
  18. So after the aircrew told you not to you still went and did it because YOU didn't see any reason why not to. And we wonder why we don't get a lot of current military aircraft at airshows anymore. No one wants to go to some place and have to baby sit a plane and try to keep John Q Public from screwing with the bird because they read something in some book. Just because there is stuff on the net doesn't mean it's okay for you to do it. How do you know that there hasn't been changes to the intake and thus changed the classification. Good going, you are a true insperations to model builders.
  19. I could write a book on all the technical in-accuracies. It's a great toy but not to be considered for an accurate model. Reddog
  20. I don't think that is a Desert Storm area picture. CDR Fox was a LCDR during DS and the CO of the squadron was CDR (CAPT Sel.) M. Anderson. Also, they did not have that stripe on their drop tanks. That photo looks like it was taken when CDR Fox came back to be CO of the squaron and the kill markings was put there to denote his kill during DS. Reddog
  21. No turf issue here, and I'm not that bad (am I?). The bomb racks had both 14 and 30 inch suspension so no adapter would be needed. Reddog
  22. It's all cool until some one puts an eye out. The stuff I have caught them using isn't a big deal in my book and it's stuff they should be cleared for but due to NAVAIR being over engineered things take too long at times. Also, some times it's the only thing on hand so it's either use the new stuff or nothing at all. Some of the items may not have complete flight testing and finding that one issue over bad guy land is not a very good thing. The real issue is if something goes wrong and they are caught using unauthorized ordnance someone's head is going to be on silver plater on someone e
  23. We would do alot of tanking on cruise and we expereinced a lot of basket strikes, resulting in the IFR Probe door being knocked off. There has been several occasions of when the door has gone down the intake, FOD'ing out the engine. We took preventive measures to eleminate that by just removing the door, it save countless FOD'ed engines and lost doors. To bad we could not do something about the starboard windscreen, they took a beating also. Reddog :)
  24. Not just combat sorties, usually when ever we had to do heavy tanking operations. One of the first things done when we went on cruise was to remove those doors. Reddog
