  1. 1/48 scale white stencils for Navy aircraft. You could just make a sheet for blue FJ-3 Fury's complete with stencils if that would be easier!
  2. Come to think of it, Paul may be correct. The fin on the FJ-3 was moved forward from the F-86 series so using the ESCI fin may not work. I'd have to lay it out on the plans to know for sure but in one of my attempts, I cut the horizontal stab off and moved it forward (ala Impatient Pete)http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=126887&st=0&p=1309795&hl=impatient%20pete&fromsearch=1entry1309795
  3. Well - that never occurred to me. I've made multiple stabs at creating an FJ-3 and I've looked at multiple solutions to the problem but I've never thought of something so elegant (and in hindsight, obvious) to the problems of correcting the upper fuselage/tail fin.
  4. I'd love to see some pictures or at least a description of what you are attempting. I've been following this attempt but, sadly, it hasn't been updated in quite a while. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234981173-north-american-fj-3-fury-148th-esci-with-added-elbow-grease/page-2 You also might find this interesting: http://tailhooktopics.blogspot.com/2015/04/esci-148th-fj-23.html
  5. Does the "First Production" part make them more collectable or, better asked, what does that mean?
  6. This is the Monogram Panther from the box and old Hawk Banshee with a couple of modifications...
  7. While we're on the subject of F-84's, a slight diversion - Does anyone have photos of any 430th FBS F-84's? This is my wife's father at K2 in a 430thFBS F-84 in probably summer of 1952. This is the only photo of him that has surfaced of his time in Korea. I'm hoping that someone may have more...
  8. I recently acquired a 1/48 Classic Airframes Mig-3 and both of the canopies are yellowed. I realize that Squadron makes replacement canopies (that cost as much as I paid for the kit) so I'm checking here to see if anyone has a spare. Thanks! TD
  9. I'm with Gene K, How's that FJ-3 coming???????
  10. Is it so difficult to post your list to this page? I am interested in decals but uninterested in giving my email address to possible spammers. Oh well, I guess my money stays in my pocket.
  11. I have the prop spinners and nacelles. Are you planning on building yours gear up? The one I acquired is missing a few parts but it seems like I have the ones your looking for. Email me off board and we can work it out, I'll send you what I have for what you want to give, no prob. If anyone built a C-130 wheels up, I could use some help! birdysauce at yahoo dot com TD
  12. I just picked up a C-130 E/H without a box off of Craigslist. Are these what you are looking for? Sorry, the tanks are glued together - and not exceptionally well. They just need a bit of sanding at the seam I believe. If you're still interested, we can work out a swap. I can also take better pictures of the seams if you so desire.
  13. They only make me angry when people don't wish for a 1/48th scale FJ-3 Fury...
  14. Someone please do a FJ-2/3 Fury in 1/48. I've done my best to make it happen by attempting a conversion but I'm not above begging...
  15. Thanks everyone. I'm still quite a way from the decal stage but I panicked when I was doing a mental checklist and realized that I have nothing to mark these birds with. Chris - I'm aware of the differences - but I've seen this -6 model by Don Fogal And figured I could do something similar. I personally blame Tommy Thomason for my interest in these subjects and if you aren't aware of his work, the above picture came from the following page on one of his sites: http://tailspintopics.blogspot.com/2010/11/f9f-6-vs-f9f-8-cougars.html
  16. I'm looking for some white decals I can use for my 1/48 Banshee, Cougar and -3 Fury projects. I'm not afflicted with AMS so anything that looks close will work.
  17. I'm about 3/4 finished on two projects, the old Hawk Banshee with a stretch job to become an F2h-2 and a Monogram/ESCI/ProModeler kitbash to something that resembles a FJ-3 Fury. I'm also prepping a Monogram panther to take Revell Cougar wings and intakes to become a -6 Cougar. I want to do these jets in navy blue but I've suddenly realized that I don't have nearly enough decals in my stash to make this happen. I have to Panther set from Monogram with the HUGE "306's which won't work at all. I'm not overly confident in my ability to cut white decal paper into letters. So, that leaves me wi
  18. I have a partial from this kit: http://www.scalemates.com/products/product.php?id=147084 Sent you (and another by mistake!) a PM. The areas I attempted to grey out are the missing decals. EDITED to show decal sheet.

    FJ-2/3 Fury

Look at Tommy Thomason's page here. It will help a great deal. http://tailspintopics.blogspot.com/2011/04/fj23-fury-redux.html Also, Pete started a conversion - and I totally stole his ideas in my project... Harold Offield's very nice conversion is reprinted here as well. http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=126887&hl=fury I have all this stuff printed out and am about 50% finished with my first go. I say first because I was about 25% done prior to Tommy's update so I'm not entirely happy - but I figure I'll finish it - then try again with vast stores of k
  20. My son wanted a big airplane to hang in his room so I stripped down a very old Revell F-4 (J?) but now I'm stuck with a huge hunk of plastic with no markings. I'm not looking for accuracy or even a real aircraft or squadron - just something that will look right to an 8 year old. Anyone have a navy F-4 set from a kit that you used aftermarket decals on laying around that you wouldn't mind parting with - I have some decals and whatnot laying around - perhaps we could make a deal? Thanks for looking Tim
  21. I'd rather have a 1/48 Tunnan than a new-tool Viggen.
