  1. Figured I'd bring this thread back to life. Significant points awarded to the modeler who builds this MH-60:
  2. Title says it all. Question is - will it be designed by the folks who do Trumpy's armor kits (which in all honesty are pretty decent) or the teams that do their aircraft (which in all honesty usually suck)? 2nd question is whether they will follow Takom and Meng and replicate all the very pronounced rivets that cover this helo or just go with the divots they use in all their other models.
  3. Just keep in mind, the full ASPI upgrade also included the 5 missile warning sensors and 2 additional flare dispensers. No idea if those parts are included with the Hasegawa kit or not.
  4. How'd you replicated the cracked skin on the radome? I was thinking of doing that on my build but never came up with a satisfactory solution. Looks awesome.
  5. Dang, those engines look amazing. I'm kicking myself for not trying to build one of them on my Apache. BTW, don't know if you are interested but one thing Takom missed was that there is a bulkhead aft the engine that the three diffusers pass through. Not very visable if the nacelles are sealed up but it's noticable if you are leaving them open. Keep up the great work!
  6. Very nice work, I'll be following along on this build.
  7. Just discovered this build. Nice work! I'm doing a similar build over on LSP and on the Apache modeler's FB page. I'll be following closely. Keep up the good work.
  8. I'm a few weeks out from that stage. Decals look fantastic though. Thanks for taking a chance on a helo subject.
  9. The sheer depth of Ray's Huey knowledge is awe inspiring.
  10. Might have a chance to purchase a a rare Fisher A-1E conversion. Only drawback is that it’s minus the decals. Are there any options out there for replacement decals, maybe using sets designed for other kits? I really don’t care if I build a Navy version or USAF one. Any advice is much appreciated.
  11. Excellent. Never been on this forum before, didn't know if you released the profiles or just put out a picture of the sheet itself.
  12. Do you think you will have any profiles of your subjects available to take a look at?
  13. Good news. Didn't mean to cause confusion with my comments, it was understood that you would have some of the basic stenciling, just not all the minutia, which to me, would include those DO NOT GRAB decals present in the cockpit.
  14. One note of caution. Jennings (the guy behind Fundekals) probably has studied and documented the early F-4C paint jobs more than anyone else out there. He said multiple times that the paint scheme on 829 at the USAF Museum is heavily flawed. I wouldn't use it as a reference. That link I posted earlier is probably the best collection of color pictures of those early jets available on the interweb. All that being said, if the 36" deep camo look works for you, have at it. Good chance you'll be correct and if you aren't, even better chance that no one will ever find a pic
  15. This should probably go on another forum but WW is working a stencil set that includes that DO NOT GRAB markings. Only reason I bring this up here is that Kursad indicated previously that he had no interest in doing the stencils for this kit. If you have any other questions on decals for this helo, best to probably start a thread on the Helo forum.
  16. Same situation. Heard a rumor on the Apache modelers FB page that a well-known European outfit will have decals out for this kit next month. I'm just hoping we have a nice selection of US Army E-models to choose from.
  17. If interested, the full build is here: Wolfpack Phantom - 8th TFW F-4C - Works in Progress - Large Scale Planes I tried to add in a bunch of info about the real thing. Those early paint jobs were amazing in their complexity and general "weirdness". Also have pics of the finished model in the Criteque forum here on ARC. Boomstick, I looked into the intake interior paintwork quite a bit. As you said, lots of variations but it seemed that for one of the early jets painted by contractors at Clark AFB, it was more prevalent to have the 36" deep camo paint inside the intakes.
  18. Hopefully this set will have some colorful markings for post-OIF/OEF Echo models.
  19. I built this kit last year, subject was another 8th TFW jet (589), circa 1967. Took a lot of time to correct the kit issues (including intakes) and get it up to the level of detail I wanted but nothing is particularly difficult. If a caveman like me can do it, anyone can. With regard to the intakes, it's a pretty easy fix. No need for conversion parts, you will still end up cutting kit plastic either way so why not save yourself $40?. Here's my conversion underway, with the parts just taped up to show the general layout. Here's the bad boy
  20. What horrible decal work on the fuselage side. Would it have killed the AF to use a bit of Micro-Sol?? Totally unrealistic.
