  1. Nice looking paintwork! I've got a lot of respect for those who are able to build vac kits.
  2. Build it the way that makes you happy. You can add some random lines so you've got sufficient clutter to make it look realistic. You don't need to break out a maintenance manual and replicate every line. That's an amazing job on the model above BTW.
  3. That truck is amazing. I'm running out of adjectives here.
  4. Bringing this thread back from the long dead. Jeffrey - wondering if you have any update on that wheel well correction set? Thought I saw something on another website about you making some progress on it. I've got your fantastic engine and canopy set, that's the last upgrade I need before tackling this beast.
  5. No idea if these cockpits ever got an NVG upgrade and were painted black but originally both would have been DGG. I'm guessing on this but I would think they would also have the yellow outlines around the side windows as well.
  6. Now that the Reagan is headed back out to sea (assuming the pre-sail drug bust didn't deplete the crew too much), maybe CVW-5 will get in some more pictures. Between your pictures and the others I've come across, the only part of 507 I still don't have details on are the names under the port side canopy and NG door. If you come across any pictures of those areas of the jet, please feel free to post them Greg!
  7. That would be fantastic. I respect DCS for the level of accuracy they bring to their subjects but I always found that Falcon 4.0 just had more "soul" in the campaigns.
  8. The learning curve for something like the 737 is what you would expect for a study level sim. Takes some time but it's not insurmountable. If you can figure out how to use the various radar modes in the DCS F-14, you can figure out how to program the FMS on the 737. The rest is just practice or start with one of the more basic aircraft that come with sim. My particular favorite is Xcrafters Cub (a Piper Cub on steroids). For add-ons, I'm using the payware PMDG 737 and a few airports (Logan being one of them, it's truly amazing). The PMDG product has a good manual with
  9. Don't forget MSFS. Doesn't do the combat thing but it's got truly revolutionary graphics and (with the right add-ons) is amazingly detailed and challenging. Boston to Orlando in PMGD's 737-800.
  10. The radar housing looks kinda similar to the ones they are grafting onto the upgraded MC-130's (I forget the specific model). Agreed on the inlet screens. Don't think I've ever seen an MH-60M (or earlier) with inlet screens. Figured those helos need all the performance they can get out of those poor hardworking engines. Also noted some sort of search light next to the FLIR turret. Not sure if that's always been present or not.
  11. Heard a rumor that Hypersonics might finally be working on a correction set for this issue. Hopefully that's the case. Would love to bang out that EKA-3 I've had on the shelf for the last few years.
  12. Posted over on FB, appears to be an MH-60M with multiple upgrades. Would love to see better pictures of this one.
  13. You the man Greg, that helps quite a bit. I'll be building this one in the near future. Just trying to find out what the current names are on the port side of the cockpit. On a weathering related note, that's a gnarly looking external tank in the first picture of 507 you posted.
  14. If you happen to come across recent pictures of VAQ-141's Growler 507, please feel free to post! Thanks again for taking the time to post all these awesome pictures.
  15. Very nice work. I'll be starting the Takom 35th Echo in the near future. She's a big beast of a helo!
  16. Fantastic work, I love watching your progress.
  17. That's some seriously good work going on.
  18. If this helps: I used ASK decals on my current build, if you are interested, it's over on LSP Vietnamese Snake - Works in Progress - Large Scale Planes I strongly recommended you go with the Special Hobby version of the kit. It's got a boatload of 3D printed and resin parts that really address the deficiencies of the ICM kit. As far as other decals, Werne's Wings seems to have decided to hold off on releasing their 32nd Cobra decals and are just doing 48th for now. To the best of my knowledge, ASK decals are the only readily available decals out
  19. Will try that if I ever use ASK decals again. I've tempered my critisim of these decals just a bit. The stencils (although in a weird font and sometimes using gibberish) actually go down very well with no silvering at all. I find the trick is to not cut right up to the edge of the artwork itself but leave a border of clear film. Once applied, after a few coats of Micro Sol, the decal looks pretty good. For anything bigger than a stencil, you still need to use extreme care, it doesn't take much for the ink to start disintegrating. I'll give them a 5 out of 10 rating. Guess
  20. Thanks very much. Contrary to popular belief, the USAF did fold the wings on their F-4's a fair amount (although to be honest, the vast majority of pics I've found are of F-4C/D's). Figured I'd do something a bit different while at the same time, reducing shelf space a bit. Building this in 32nd scale makes one realize how absolutely massive these jets were.
  21. I'll throw up some pics when I'm finished but here is where I'm at so far. Only partially done with the decaling process. Good luck on your build, hope you post some pics as well Don.
  22. Nice shots as always Gregg, thanks for posting 'em.
  23. Don, Just a heads up - I started using these on my build. The first one I used was a rather complex smaller marking. The decal immediately started to fall apart when it was applied. Very fragile. I then moved onto the large tiger's mouth decal. This one had the black ink dissolve in the water before I could even apply it. I then moved onto to other decals. The remaining small ones actually went on nicely. You have to trim all the excess film away but one on, they look very nice. Instructions say to use lighter fluid to dissolve the clear film but I'm not sure I w
