  1. Norbert, you've got some big kahoonas cutting up that $50 model like that, but The way its looking already, those HIRSS exhausts will look top notch! How about making them and casting masters for Cobra Company.I'm sure they would love to get their hands on those things.
  2. Nice lookin cockpit you got Alby! Can't wait to see the finished model.Good luck on the rest! :)
  3. June 1st it is. I'm new to this group build idea,so who do you talk to to make it official? Also where do you get the group build badge from?
  4. Is that a new model that just came out or has it been out for awhile. The sherriff's dept. across the river in Cincinnati flies the MD-530(minus the guns and the mast mounted sight of course) I think. They also fly a MD530? with NOTAR.Sounds cool when it flies over the house with that NOTAR whine.
  5. Nice pics of your SOAR birds Bob,You 've got a nice collection going.Jon is right,The AH-6's are better fitted to the missions that the 160th does. The Apache would have been a nice addition to the unit,But the 6's are a better fit to their style of flying of missions.
  6. Norbert.Great modelling skills my friend on your blackhawk.Especially the digital mods. While buildind my MH-60,I tackled the HIRSS exhaust by scribing and then cutting a line in between the exhaust and the roof at the dip where the 2 meet.Looks alot closer to the real deal so far.not yet started on the rest, but I hope it helps.
  7. How about a 160th SOAR helo group build. We could start Jan 1 08 and it Dec 31 08.Oct 3 will be the 15th Anniversary of OGS,so let's build them to say thanks.Any aircraft and any scale will be allowed.
  8. Hey Norbert,That Blackhawk looks absolutely awesome and it's not even done yet.I only hope my modelling skills could be that good.Your scratchbuilding and modifying is so good maybe you ought to get in touch with Cobra Co. and see if they will let you build the master for the new exhausts. While your at it,build the correct broomclosets behind the cockpit for them too! I think it would be a great compliment to the UH-60 correction set
  9. I have an old BK-117 model from Revell,BK-117-Pegasus I think, that I would like to build as a UC(Univ.of Cinti)EMS chopper some day.I live across the Ohio River and see Air Care(it's name) flying around all the time.
  10. The Air Force uses the same rotor blades as the Army does. The rotor heads are the same with the exception of a rotor brake attached. The MH-60's of the 160th use a rotor brake, but regular Army doesn't use them.At least back in the 80's they didn't.
  11. Heavy Arty, you're right. All Army Hawks have the square root at the blade end.I ought to know,I hit my head on the end of the blade one day while climbing up the step fairing.Wasn't to bad,no stitches just the Flight Surgeon asking me if the blades were turning(IMAGINE THAT!)
  12. Alright then,How about some correct HIRSS exhausts in 1/35 scale eh?
  13. Ditto,Ditto, for Erick's suggestion as well.A couple of years ago I built a 1/35 scale UH-60 for a contest in Columbus and I bent the main rotors the way Erick said and I had some great comments on my blade droop, so it looks realistic if it's done the right way.(The model won 1st place in the helicopter category.)
  14. How about just flipping the gearboxes upside down and turning into a mighty big riding lawn mower.I bet John Deere ain't got nothing on that!
  15. OK I've got it.The AH-56 is the AH-1 Cobra's dad while the Cessna 152 with rotors must be the Cobra's mom.Gotcha!Just kidding Jon! :D
  16. Oh well,it was just a thought one day,no big deal and no it wasn't a smack down.Just bummed out that I'm gonna have to do alot of scratchbuilding if I want to pursue this idea.Just a fleeting thought here today and probably gone tomorrow. <_<
  17. I agree with Erik, some of the call signs originate from the company's callsign itself. Our callsign in the 82nd Aviation brigade's B Co. was the "Corsairs" while A Co.'s was the "Redhawks".So our hawks were Corsair 14,Redhawk 51 and so on.
  18. Hey Chris,It sure would be nice if Cobra Co. came out with a 1/35th scale jayhawk conversion set for the Italeri/MRC kit.You already have the 1/48 scale set to go by.I bet this would peak the interest of alot of us helo guys. How bout it,You helo guys with me?
  19. Thanks everybody for the info, but I was looking more for any engine cowling art on the side.Super 64 had VENOM while Super 61 had THUNDERSTRUCK on it.I,m looking more for Joe,s (the friend)engine cowling art for Super 63.I've talked to Super 61's crew chief and he knew him as well but had no info.I want to build a MH-60L that looked like his aircraft for a memorial for him.
  20. Does anybody make decal sheets for the mh-60's in somalia.I had a friend(deceased now) who was the crew chief on Super 63,the C2 bird that Matthews and Harrell were flying on that day.If any decal makers are reading this, make a decal sheet for the Super 6-'s birds that day. That would be awesome for us h-60 helo modelers. Thanks!!
  21. Heavy Arty.the NVG mod was to the cockpit and cabin lighting. The upper console lights were changed from red and white to blue and red. Also all instrument lights were changed to red I believe. The cabin lights were changed to a blue color. All hawks were changed over during the 86-88 years.
