  1. May I make a correction to one of your points and see if you agree: "...,which could have been solved or fixed on the CADs." Never take anything for granted that is in fact not! In this case this also means it could have been done better regardless of a digital or analog process. Well argued. Especially your last line. let me point you to another type of student: The kind that works or studies very hard - giving his best - but still hardly passes or fails. Unfortunately. Now let me further point out three major aspects that really stand out in this context - from your lines: dubious choic
  2. This is a typical example of a very common misconception about the new digital tools used in the design process. I run into this on a regular basis. See, only because you draw a technical or artistic drawing on the computer, digitally, and not with a pencil on paper, it does not mean - by ANY STANDARD - that the digital drawing is better in any way. it is just digital. In other words: only because airplanes, washing machines OR INJECTION MOULDS are designed on a computer, it does not mean they are better. The design is (still) "thinking made visual" as Saul Bass once said. Trust me, as a De
  3. This is really odd. What is this? What I see/read: Metal canards, canopy, landing gear, pitot tube - that's it. Clearly NOT the windmark conversion set here: Hands off I say until we know for sure! regards Mart
  4. The wolfpack set is a legal "copy" see here: www.scalemodelworld.netshowthread.php?p=154153#post154153 bloody php coding war or what? so annoying - good ol screencap: therefore "work by windmark" on every boxcover For me, THE reference build if dealing with 1/48 SU-33: http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=236931&st=0 From what I have seen the windmark has sharper detail and therefore is the better deal (confirmed by the builder Jon Fitzgerald). Why that is I don't know. regards Martin
  5. Dear Ken, Thank you for this dedicated review in progress. Is it just me (my misinterpretation or deception of the photo) or is there a slight inward bend where there shouldn't be one? Anyway... I am much more optimistic about the upcoming 1/48 kit now. kind regards Martin
  6. Dude, why on earth should someone... whatever... just have a look here: http://www.navy.mil/view_single.asp?id=113260 120109-N-EE987-022 PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 9, 2012) The aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) transports Sailors' vehicles while transiting the Pacific coast to Naval Base Kitsap during its homeport change for a scheduled dock-planned incremental availability maintenance period. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communications Specialist 3rd Class Shawn J. Stewart/Released) Nothing looks as absurd as reality sometimes!
  7. I've never done a 3D Print although I would like to! Hi raduteo, First let me say that I think you are not only very accurate but also very quick - 800h is little time for what you have achieved in my opinion. As far as I know you need NURBS to communicate with machines - wether a CNC milling machine or a 3D printer. So any polygon model would need to be resurfaced into a NURBS model first using a converter and then exported into the specific file format of the software operating the machine. This can be very tricky so companies offering 3d printing tend to give a polygon limit (if the
  8. First, Happy new year to ya all! +1 HAHA, my exact thought as well! As far as it concerns me Eduard has just lowered it's reputation again with another 'cheat' kit. @ Pep: Can't be marijuana in my view - u just don't get that trashed. Pointless, overpriced - nice one Eduard! As we say in german: "Herr, lass Hirn vom Himmel regnen!" "Lord, let it rain brain from the sky!" let's just wait for the HB kit - maybe Flankerman's 35 years prayers will be heard at last. rg

  11. will eagerly follow your build and see how you tackle that belly!
  12. general viewpoint but definitely relevant. I think: production number/quantity of item is the most important factor for the final shelf price of any product. Hence the high price for 1/32 kits, I think. tooling cost is a factor, of course, but I think quantity is the real issue. so the smaller the quantity the higher the price & the higher the numbers the cheaper it gets.
  13. That has got to be the 1/48 Ja-37 Viggen kit by Esci & reissued by Airfix. Very awful but it always can get worse I guess.
  14. yes, i caught myself recently saying: If crime pays off or not is a question of social belonging and rank.
