Hello, since the release of Academy's F-4B I'm excited by "early" Phantoms. I would like to represent a Marines F-4B with the early more rounded wing tanks. As far as I know there is no McDonnell 370 gallon wing tank available in 48scale, neither in a model kit nor as accessories kit? I found a few threads here about the wing tanks and pylons but no detailed information about size and shape of the tanks. Unfortunately I was not able to find some drawings and/or dimensions in the www...... Any help is highly appreciated! Many thanks and best regards, Jens

Well, to me the way Aires does their detailing sets is the right way! I think it's the most realistic way of thinning kit and resin parts as much as possible to represent the thinnes or the real aircraft parts. For example when i have a fuselage side or a wing lower part with a thickness of the plastic parts between 1 to 2mm it's on the real plane between 4,8 cm to 9,6 cm thick! I have never heard of or seen an aircraft with such a thick fuselage skin...? I'm bothered by nice detailed and delicate resin parts installed in rude thick plastic parts. And I can imagine this is the same way

It's a shame..... that in ten years membership you never showed us one of your models before!! Shame on you ;-) That build is amazing! Very inspiring! Thanks for showing, see you in ten years.... best regards, Jens -
Hello, I bought my sets a few month ago and they look very good! I recently "dry fitted" them and they fit excellent - no warping. The canopy parts are made off clear resin and are not as smooth as the injection molded kit parts. I try to modify the clear kit parts.... if it does not work I use the Komplekt Zip parts! I would buy the three sets again. Regards, Jens

Hi, when you use a Hasegawa F-4J and a conversion set (Royal Resin) for your F-4B build than the Aires exhausts fit well. The Eduard exhausts are slightly more wide than the Aires ones and do not fit (the F-4J fuselage). This is my conclusion when I started my F-4D build (conversion from a F-4J). As I remember right the Eduard exhausts fit the old Hasegawa F-4B with the raised panel lines well. Besides that to my eyes the trailing edge of the Eduard exhausts looks to thick, but as Jeffrey stated the afterburner chamber of the Eduard parts looks lightly better?! Regards, Jens

Hello, the RVHP cockpit is very basic! But I'm not aware of a Aires cockpit for the "Twosair"?! The wheelbays are the same like Hasegawas since the fuselage is mainly a "copy" of Hasegawas A-7D/E. Beside the change they did on the forward fuselage and the extension on the rear, of course! According to that the Aires wheelbays work very well, but you have a lot of grinding work to do! By using the electronic bays you not only have to grind a lot but also you have to correct some panel lines on the forward fuselage. I did this (electronic bays) and I think I would not do this again....!? A

Hello, did anybody besides "Maesto Models" and "Seamless Suckers" do 1/48 F/A-18 A/B/C/D intakes before? Did "Cutting Edge" so? And are these intakes copies too? To be honest, they look good to my eyes...... But I do not want to support piracy!! Sierra Hotel Models is talking since years of releasing a set, but I do not know if this already happened and if this will ever happen?! Regards, Jens

Hello, that's true!! Thank you very much for your (slightly late) reply!! After ordering through your own web shop did not work I ordered your decals from Fantasy Printshop..... But It's very sad that you close your bussiness! I was hoping for a few very nice 48scale Mig-21 decal sheets.... All the best for you and best regards, Jens

Hello, a few years ago I build the Monogram F-105 and it was a pleasure! I did a little extra work and it came out satisfying. http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=139066&st=0&p=1243488&hl=onescale&fromsearch=1entry1243488 Now I have a Hobby Boss Thud with all the Aires/Quickboost/D-Mold/Royal Resin/Hobby Decal/True Detail....etc. goodies on the shelve, and I'm looking forward that build (when ever it will be...) To me the HB kit looks good and I'm hoping it will be less work than the Monogram kit....? Regards, Jens

Excellent build!! Fantastic job on an "exotic" plane! I've also seen this model on an other forum and felt immediately in love with this aircraft (and especially with your build)! Thankfully the kit is still availlable! Best regards, Jens

That is a beautiful diorama!! Excellent! Good idea to show the aircraft at this stage of the catapult take off! Puh! And building the carrier section from scratch..... Hats off!! Regards, Jens

Okay Eduard - I need some Soviet style chocks for my MiG-21
onescale replied to Jennings's topic in Jet Modeling
Misterkit in Italy and Victory Models in the States sells them as well! They don't have all sets in stock. But ordering at Jadar works fine! And I don't think postage to the US is expensive for this small PE-sets?! Besides that I'm sure Eduard is releasing wheel-chocks soon when the Mig-mania continues....?! Best regards, Jens -

Try here for the Dagger set: http://www.aconcaguamodels.com.ar/prod/det_d_01.htm The "short" nozzle looks pretty like the PJ production set(?): http://www.pjproduction.net/product/481205...ail-conversion/ In my opinion you can get the best Mirage IIIC cockpit/detailing set here: http://www.sbsmodel.com/resinsets I'm sure you can use this cockpit for a Mirage IIIE/5 and Dagger with minor modifications as well?!
