  4. Hello everybody.......anybody seen the A-model Hawker Fury biplane yet. If so care to comment?
  5. The Jaguar canopy could be set in one of three positions; fully closed, fully open or latched. The latch was about 6 inches long and sat in the 12 o clock position on the canopy arch. This allowed us to taxi whilst gaining the benefit of fresh air. The 'owner's handbook' precluded taxiing with the lid fully open as it was retained in that position by careful use of the finest knicker elastic. Needless to say some miscreants (not me of course!!!) were seen trundling about with it fully open, especially in the Middle East. Moral of story......check references and always be prepared for someo

Hi ARCers. I'm currently engaged in the rescue from destruction of a Hobbycraft 109B. I've sorted out some of the damage I've done to this innocent kit and would like to ask you Messerschmitt fans a couple of questions. The box comes with a choice of two propellors and the instructions indicate the use of the broad chord fixed pitch unit. I'm assuming that this is correct and that the variable pitch unit is for the C/D boxing; is the same true of the oil cooler (part 5)? I seem to remember reading that this appeared under the port wing of the C model but there's no indication as to its use or
  9. Thanks very much for the speedy reply Sean; I'll be going there on my next trip, whenever that might be. I've actually just returned from CYVR so I know what you mean about the rain. It's a bit like being back in Blighty.
  10. Hi guys and gals. I'm occasionally in Vancouver and was wondering if there's a hobby shop in reasonably close (1 hr walk/15 minute cab) to the downtown area. The hotel I use is on the corner of Howe and Georgia. Thanks.

  19. Hello everybody. I'm running a theme of the history of fighter aircraft in 1/48th scale. As a light hearted end model I thought that the TIE from Star Wars would be fitting. I seem to remember from years ago that the AMT kit (being reissued as 38270) featured a Darth Vader figure in about 1/48th scale. Am I correct? If not could you suggest any other suitable kit to fil this niche. Only 42 days to go now until we can all greet each other with: "May the fourth be with you"
  20. I've just bought the Tamiya P51 "8th AF aces" boxing and note that it has Cartograf decals, which look superb. Any clues as to how they react with various decal setting agents? Are Cartograf doing all the decals for the newer Tamiya releases or is this just a flash in the pan?
