Final cruise. '77 I think. My uncle was with VA 215 on the final cruise. The book gives a pretty good history of the ship.

I can't remember where I read the full story at, but IIRC the pilot got lost, landed in Yugoslavia and in an attempt to conceal something, the pilot painted various things on the aircraft. I believe they gave him fuel and let him go. I've got a Rosie cruise book, might have read it in that.

Sorry for the necro-post. I was finally able to dig out the cruise book. There are pics of A/C with and without the refueling probes mounted. There are no pics of A/C with the cannon pod mounted. Hope this helps.

My uncle was on the Rosie during that cruise. He gave me his cruise book (happened to be the last cruise of the Rosie). If I remember correctly, the refueling probes were installed, don't recall about the cannons. I wanna say they were not mounted. I'll dig out the book and get back to you.
