  1. Just beautiful. I like how you use anything to get the right result. I do the same! Whatever works...
  2. I sailed around the Pacific in yacht, in some places where there was the possiblity we would come into contact with Indonesian pirates. So we practiced shooting tin cans dangling from the mast, during the doldrums. Even on a flat ocean, I cannot imagine being very successful sniping in this situation - you're moving, your target is moving in a reasonably unpredictable manner. When I heard about the situation you mention above, I was pretty dumbfounded and my admiration for the team went up dramatically.
  3. Here's my latest with Alclad, I put it on over Tamiya gloss black spraybomb:
  4. Phantom ordie has it about right. At 1.72 for example, anything is mostly exaggerated, so you just have to go with what looks good. And sometimes that's a tough one...
  5. Peter Jackson was going to make a Dam Busters movie, it was on his list for the longest time, but I have not heard anything about it recently. A WW2 movie from Peter Jackson would be pretty amazing...
  6. Since I have build my own rudimentary lathe... I did not find this so far out as the others. But then I thought about it, and it's been awhile since I've seen Galaxy Quest.
  7. I do hope SOPA does not pass. Wikipedia making a stand is a good idea. How will with political aides do their 'research' and speechwriting now?
  8. The mesh is a bit out of scale... ...joke! Nice work, very nice work!
  9. That looks fantastic. I like your masking idea, nice lateral thinking there.
  10. Thats awesome Adam. I'm going to steal that multitool idea and do one on my lathe too! Is that aluminium - or 'bright' steel?
  11. I had a jeweller friend who worked in exclusively in silver. Every few months, she would burn the carpet she purposely kept underneath her workbench. This would allow her to collect the silver from the carpet from her work. I always loved the idea. Sadly, this is no help to us at all, but still fun to think about.
  12. Mike I was about to dismiss your metalizer brush-on tip, as I've achieved pretty amazing finished with Alcad. However, clicking through that link has me really intrigued! I have some Mr Metal Colour buffing metalizer which I have never used, but now I must try it! Thanks for the tip.
  13. I second the G-S Hypo Cement. I've used it for the longest time - it's awesome stuff, highly recommended!
  14. As for original issue... ... a LIGHT coat from the airbrush is important. That 'lip' you're describing is bascially too much paint buildup. Secondly, the angle at which you airbrush is also important! ______\\\\\\\ ----------------------- Basically the above shows the edge of the masking (______) and the angle you want is a bit too vertical in this example (\\\\\\\). You want to angle it so you're not aiming into the seam between the masking tape and the canopy (-------) because that will fill up with your paint pretty quickly and cause the issues you're describing. Sorry for my horrible
  15. I was considering getting this - thanks for the heads up. It looks like an easy fix, but totally necessary. I think I will just remove those spines totally. Exciting news on the Tumbler. I really want a larger one!
  16. Looks fantastic. I did not see that first pic you did: But it's a real beauty. That's box art right there!
  17. There were actually three in trailer, but you only get to see their lower legs.
  18. Wow, indeed. Looks really badass. I always loved this design and your new paintscheme fits nicely.
  19. So what generally happens to the deployed groups in this situation, once a huge military presence is no longer needed? I'm not a military many so have no idea. Do the groups come home, get disbanded and people forcibly retired? Or do they stay on in some other role? Voluntary redundancy?
  20. Looking good. You know that canopy was a real learning experience for you, now you have another skill in your arsenal. Many of Hasegawa's canopies are like this, but they are all susceptible to being fixed with a bit of polish and elbow grease. Well done!
  21. That rear deck is a killer isn't it! My 8 year old daughter actually helped me - I would call out the number, she identified it, trimmed it off the sprue and then handed it to me. I would do some minor cleanup work and glue it on. She was really happy to help too, which made it a lot of fun.
  22. Aves Apoxie sculpt. You can even blend it without touching the dreaded sandpaper once, using water, or even better, alcohol, and a micro sponge or cotton wool.
  23. The elephant and Hannibal reference made me laugh. Well played sir!
  24. Really nice concept and well executed.
  25. This is fantastic work, regardless of whether the configuration is correct or not, looks awesome!
