Hi Blake, Thanks for the reply. Those colours are tricky. If you look at your top picture the deck seems a light colour, but deck blue is darker. The dark colour was supposed to black as far as I know, which can be seen in the second picture in your post, but it weathered fast to a dark gray sort of colour. I think I will go for that, but it is a difficult choice. Rick.

Hi, I must admit that the build is rather stalled at the moment, finishing other projects first. I find it difficult to make a planning for this one, also struggeling with the way I want to display the ship when ready. It would be very nice in the water but how to make that...........

Hi everyone, The first ship I am building and it wil be a long term project, notice long.... That is how I want it to look in the end, not sure wether I make the blurred or straight lines on the hull. This is where I am right now, about 10 months after I started the build. So far the only part that is finished, number 1 turret PE and books, most of the fun is research Question what colours should be used fot the hull? Next question if I want to raise the guns on number 2 turret, looks less static I think, how do you make the blast

Hi, I am looking for info for info on this plane. I have been asked to help building a MK IX C for a local museum which crashed on april 18th 1945 in Gennep, the place I live. I was a plane from # 1 Squadron with the serial NH356 flown by WO Vickery, he came out ok. I know that the squadron code was JX but I do not know the the plane's letter. The plane was left there until after the war, when the civilian population got back from beiing evacuated I know that local farmers got the last fuel out of the tanks to let their machines run. Well, I have finally finished this one. I know that the Trumpeteer P51Bis not the greatest model in the world, and the wings are from a D but I did not bother about that. It took quite a while to get the look I wanted and maybe the weathering is a little over the top but I wanted to give the impression that this was a battered plane. I took the liberty of masking the top invasion stripes. By the time this aircraft was destroyed in an taxi accident at Debden in the beginning of July they should be gone.

Managed to finish something after a while. The plastic is weird stuff, it did not react very good on normal glue so it fell apart quite a few times. CA came to the resque! The kit was build OOB, great decals, and a added a few details. Hope you like it Rick

Middle in the proces of filling rivets and panel lines. Not very happy with the topwing so I need to give that another coat of mr. Surfacer. While cleaning up the attic I found a dtailset from J. Rutman. Although designed for the Revell kit it looks a lot better than the cockpit Trumpeter provides. So out goes the Trumpeter parts and the carving starts for the aftermarket. So far OOB I am afraid... Back to the sanding.... Rick.

After quite a while I am back in the game. I moved to another part of the country and got myself a brand new cave. So now it is Mustang time. I have the Trumpeteer kit in my stash and it will do just the trick, I know that there are quite some issues with this kit but I will go with what the kit has to offer, no aftermarket adventures planned just straight out of the box. I want to make a plane with the Malcom hood but not sure yet which one, pictures are most welcome! Right now I am in the process of filling a truckload of rivits, a slow but hopefully rewarding job. I am moving to another house and doing the Camino del Nord in March but I should be able to start halfway april. Got a Phantom on the pile to be transferred into a Israelian RF4E. This GB might just do the trick.. Happy holidays! Rick

Things have changed lately and I got a little bit carried away. I have a desk full of Phantom right now and the intentions are to deliver a F4J, a RF4E and a F4E, US Navy style for the J, Israelian style for the RF4E and USAF Vietnam style for the F4E. So far I have been working on the Legend pit for the F4E, the camera's from the RF4E and the intakes from the F4J. I will use parts as I please so hopefully this will turn out in a kitbashing first class. Rick.

I love the Phantom and especially the Navy ones, so the birthdaypresent given by my family was more than welcome. I gathered aftermarket stuff too try and make this look nice, but I cannot stand in the shadow of some great Phantom builds I see over here. So I am doing some research now and probably will not start for a month but what the heck, this is what I have got so far. The exhaust are from Joe Lortie and the dry transfers are from Hobbydecal. I am looking for pictures and references from 1971 Phantoms in Vietnam and their payload. Been having a hard time finding some of

Although I finished her I was not happy with the nose, and the more I looked at it the more it irritated me so I gave her a full nose job, including a new frame for the .50 cal. Looks better now. Rick.

I think the P38 fighters would be from the 1st, 14th or 82nd Fighter Group, as far as I know those were the P38 Groups that flew in Italy, and from October 1943 they flew escort to the bombers. I hope this helps. Rick.
