  1. Thanks, I have the pictures that emerged when the plane was first painted, and it showed it was really clean. So It is nice to know it is still nice and clean, so I will probably not do any weathering.
  2. I have been working in this one when I can, it has been a busy two months for me. Since the last time we talked I have painted the camo The masking tape you see in the above picture is where I masked the top side to touch up the camo gray Next step was to mask the bird slicers and the other antennas I had to do micro surgical masking and after painting several small sections 4 different shades of gray: And ... let's see how the masking came out:
  3. They look great. Thank you for joining the group build!
  4. WOW Thank you so much for this very detailed breakdown of the differences, with pictures. 👍
  5. Thanks guys. I see an eduard color pe set for the Hasegawa F/A-18C ... I need to keep researching to see if there is a significant difference. I only have a super hornet book, so I will need to find some Legacy hornet reference.
  6. I want to join in the 2022 Hornet group build, and since I want to eventually build every version of the Hornet, I figure I will start at the beginning, with the Hasegawa F/A-18A . I prefer to not try to paint instrument panels and side consoles. I have looked high and low and I can not find anything specifically for this kit. I see Sets for the Kinetic kit, but not the Hasegawa. I am OK with regular decals, 3d decals, or color PE. I do have a sheet of generic instruments and MFDs which I can use in the absence of anything else. Thanks
  7. You might like the Grex XGi .. it has silicone grips and a silicone button hat that might help you. Grex also has Trigger style airbrushes that I have heard work well for those who find double action airbrushes uncomfortable.
  8. @Alvis 3.1 are you capable of setting up Group builds by any chance?
  9. I do not think we need to bug him on LinkedIn. I hope he is ok, but if his priorities are elsewhere then we just have to accept that fact.
  10. The cost is definitely not trivial. But if they host it for you hopefully that means you also do not have to be a DBA and sysdamin.... and so forth. Trying to self host a site like this sounds like a real headache.
  11. The Domain name could easily be acquired if it expires. Which is a problem because it could fall into the hands of people who buy domains then re sell them for high price. Now if and when the contract expiries at the hosting company, no one else could take it on without Steve transferring it to a new owner. When I worked at a hosting provider we would actually pull the network cable when someone did not pay the bill. It is automated now, but I do remember pulling the cables and putting a "suspended" sticker on the server.
  12. Oh wow it is already time for this one to start. I need to finish my F-16 and start a Hornet....
  13. I finally got this one to primer But I found a spot that needs more work, this is on the bottom of the left wing. A little putty will hopefully take care of this. Till next time...
  14. Great work, I really like the extra detail you added to the MLG bay, and cockpit. Welcome to the GB
  15. Caracal has a F-84F sheet listed as coming soon, so if you are not in a hurry, that will be the best bet. I might have some cut sheets where I used one option from the sheet.
  16. Thanks for answering the questions Geoff. I just saw this post now despite checking the forum daily. 😞
  17. Spiderwebbing usually means the paint is too thick. Like Bob said above, try using more thinner. I do not see your picture.
  18. I agree with ElectroSoldier. I have had a similar problem with a 100g. Sometimes replacing the air valve is the answer, but I have managed to get something in the air hole, you can see it on the bottom as you look at the airbrush body from the front, after removing the head. In the very worst case you can buy the body from Badger.
  19. Awesome work. thanks for another great build for this GB!
  20. After what seemed like a futile .. never ending effort, I was finally happy with the seam work. so after lots of test fitting I glued the main landing gear in place, and forgot to take a picture. I was really happy with how well all the parts fit together. Coming from older kits ... lining up the all the landing gear parts is often an exercise in futility since nothing seems to reach the place it is supposed to go. I masked the landing gear and gear bay in anticipation of primer Next, I pre-painted areas that will be hard to reach after assembly with fs36622
  21. I think last year they did a clearance this time of year as well, but in previous years it was usually in June . I love a bargain as much as anyone, but I have already gotten all the kits I like from the selection at Hobby lobby. I did have fun building the Walker bulldog right out of the box.
  22. Oh no I missed this one too. Great work. It is hard running a GB this way, but I am so glad to see so much participation 😃
  23. Thank you for joining! it is a 1 year build so .... you have time. Cool project .. and yes ... trying to find a Hasegawa two seat F-16 is difficult, so I understand the struggle. I look forward to seeing this one.
  24. Thank you for Joining the Group build! I apologize for being late to find your entry.
