  1. Invariably comes up when new kits are announced "Why do we need YET ANOTHER BF-109 when (insert obscure aircraft here) has never been kitted?"
  2. I got one at HL, the sticker price was $54.99 .... so with the 40% off it was 32.75 with tax, a little better than mail order with free shipping. It just that most of the kits there were marked up almost 40% Maybe I will load one up with AM and build one OOB or build one as an E. You can never have enough phantoms... especially 1/32 scale
  3. Tamiya makes a 1/32 F-15E, and I am pretty sure you can buy the sprues separately from tamiya. It probably would not fit closed, but maybe you could get away with the canopy posed open.
  4. I have the day off today, I might go up to HL with a coupon to try to score another one. Here is a proposed poll for a GB ... I can give a try, or we can proceed on our own if we want to get builiding -- The purpose of this group build is to build the newly released 1/32 F-4G from Revell. Revell has put effort into bringing us a previously unkitted subject in 1/32 scale, the F-4G. They have supplied a revised nose, a sprue of new parts, as well as a new one piece wind screen. We aim to show our appreciation to Revell by building the newly issued kit. The only requirement -Build the Newly
  5. This is the one to get http://www.reidairpublishing.com/product-p/shg32005.htm
  6. I have also found that if you follow a link from a google search results page to arcforums, I will occasionally get redirected to some rather unexpected sites instead.
  7. This sounds like a great idea. Anyone want to put it up? I am running a July-Jan group build but I would be willing to do it in early 2016 .
  8. This kit was re-issued as recently as 2010, the kit number is 85-5715 There might be a chance revell could still have the parts. Worth a try. Barring that, watch ebay for build ups or those sellers who part out kits. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/111948-revell-85-5715-f-15-d-e-eagle
  9. If you want stencils you could get this: https://www.furballaero-design.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=48-013
  10. I think it is just a fun game to see what you can find. We know what a kit is worth, and it becomes an interesting study in human behavior to see people go nuts in a bidding war. If you really want to have fun playing this game, check out ebay motors, it is fun to try to find the coolest, rarest cars, and you compete to find the best hidden gem. On a slow sunday night shift, this can provide lots of fun. Then part of the fun is also to scrounge a bargain, or at least a fair deal by putting in the time. I really wanted a 1/144th C-5. You see Otaki kits relisted several times for $200 or
  11. Yikes! good thing it fell away from the house.
  12. I sometimes have a recurring dream of being at a store like Kmart, or a toy store, and they have all these really cool models I never knew existed, in old Monogram boxes, as though they were old warehouse finds. Always something that never existed, from the plausible, to the ridiculous. What I do remember is a monogram 2 seat F-104 where the box top was a painting much like the monogram F-105 F "Thud" box art, except it was an TF-104 in the same perspective. And the one which was truly a dream was a 1/8th scale 1969 corvair in the 70s white box. That would be a cool kit to have, but ther
  13. It looks like I might have to contact him ... NEW! F-4E Vietnam War Early Cockpit for Revell Complete with the early cockpit, std outer wings, $60 $80 with exhaust set Here is the sheet I have : http://camdecals.com/camprop32-00634th469thtfs388thtfwf-4e.aspx
  14. I am a phantom phan, but not an expert. Any way, I have the 1990s revell F-4E mig killer kit, which has the slatted wing. I also have decals to build it as an early E . The revell kit has the later slatted wing. Is converting the wing a simple matter of of leaving off the fairings on the bottom of the wing, and cutting off the tabs, and gluing the leading edge in place? I looked around the aftermarket, and it looks like the demand is for people who have thin wing and want slatted wing I also have the revell RF-4C , i could use that as a guide or try to cast up a copy of the parts, but mold
  15. It looks like the release must be close, I just turned up two on ebay, with actual pictures of the box http://www.ebay.com/itm/Revell-1-32-scale-F-4G-PHANTOM-II-Wild-Weasel-Plane-Model-Kit-5994/281634602615?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D0adc76eae534405c85fb9d0b598cff68%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D151624508821&rt=nc I do not see it as in stock at towerhobbies or hobbylinc yet. I seem to recall a discussion within the past few years that Revell releases come to hobby stores a week or two b
  16. I will be going, I live close by, and it would be a shame to miss a chance to visit the RPD. He always has a great selection, and if you have any interest in Anigrand kits, he has them with him also. I do not see a vendor list, but if any of the "usual suspects" show up it should be well worth the time to attend. The model fest show was in Maryland a few months ago, I was going to go, but on the way I stopped at the ATM machine but forgot my PIN, so with no cash I ended up not going. :angry:/>
  17. AMS resin currently has one listed. It is out of stock at sprue brothers http://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/ams32034.htm I think others may have been offered in the past by now defunct resin casters.
  18. $100 for the airbrush and compressor is a bit tight. I was going to suggest increasing your budget if possible, but for about $113 I think I have found a good place to start $57.60 for the paasche H compete set at Dixieart.com http://www.dixieart.com/H_Single_Action.html and a campbell hausfield compressor at walmart for $55.88 (with tank) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Campbell-Hausfeld-1-Gallon-Air-Compressor/9189093 The walmart compressor will be pretty noisy though. I have the larger 3 gallon version in my garage for inflating tires and it is pretty loud. I use a badger silent compresso
  19. I got it .. leave the blades un glued, then fold them and present the model
  20. Hmmm I did not think Helos in the original description so lets break it down Is it larger than a B-25 ? Length: 88 ft 6 in (26.97 m) Rotor diameter: 72 ft 2.8 in (22.01 m) b-25: Length: 52 ft 11 in (16.13 m) Wingspan: 67 ft 7 in (20.60 m) Primary mission: cargo .. CH-53 the mission letter is C Multi-engine : Yes 1/48th or smaller? yes Hard to find a place to display? yes Any chance you can build it unfolded?
  21. Looks like the end of this month, according to tower hobbies. Revell has announced on Facebook it is a March release. I have been looking forward to this release since it was announced this summer.
  22. I am glad you found us! Just a few more months until we get started.
  23. Thank you for taking the time to make your videos. I watched these and it clears up a lot of the questions I have had about airbrushing after "winging it" for 25 years. The graphic depicting the coverage area vs. the overspray area was a real "ah ha" moment for me.
  24. I will be in on this one, so many interesting subjects. everything from the F-100 to the F-111.... from the C-47 to the C-141 .... the B-26 to the B-52 I have plenty of Phantoms, F-105s, F-100s, C-123s ... Any way, one question, Do the markings have to depict the vehicle as it served in the theatre? For example, while the F-4 served in Vietnam, it would have never served in Vietnam in the Hill Gray scheme.
