I saw 2 of these aircraft in Glasgow a while back as they were doing repatriation flights following the collapse of Thomas Cook - N701KW and N703KW. One of these was sporting a rather familiar blue coloured thrust reverser and after doing a bit of research it turned out they were both ex-BA aircraft I had worked on, and I actually had photo's of one of these from back in 1996 when it was only 4 years old (it actually looked worse then than it did in the Eastern scheme back in Sept!)

Hi folks, As an aside from aircraft modelling I also dabble with armour now and again, I've got an AFV club Scimitar I've been working on and off for a long time now and am looking to try and find some modern british tank crew fig's for the kit/diorama I have in mind but cannot seem to find any anywhere. Can anyone shed any light on a supplier that could solve my predicament? I'd hate to leave an un-manned vehicle at the side of the road!! You just don't know who's around. Thanks in advance for any help, Eng

Had a good look at this in Jamiesons models in Glagow on Thursday morning. The kit is pretty impressive, a nicely detailed interior and flight deck, various doors open or closed, nice crew fig's and main rotors moulded on "bent" sprues!! I've got one put aside for later in the month, and heli's aren't my normal cup of tea. The only thing I've heard is that the main cockpit windshield is moulded too flat, i.e when offered into position is too wide (by 1cm apparently!!) and will need some remedial action to rectify. Looking at the sprue shots here - http://scalemodels.ru/modules/myarticles/a...

Very nice mate! One of my fave aircraft and this looks beautiful. Can't beat Tamiya kits! Lovely job. Eng

Bought this just over a week ago and finished it tonite (will add 2 GBU's at some point and a small nameplate to the base) thus qualifying as my quickest build in a long time. Beautiful kit straight out of the box, better than the Dragon offering by miles, decals and all, only thing I missed til too late was that the intake section at the base of the fin is too long i.e for the AV-8B and should really have been cut back and re-shaped. Also in true Harrier fashion the gear was bloody fiddly, I managed to snap one of the outrigger fwd braces (after removal from the sprue and cleaning up!!) but

Looks superb so far, unlike most of my other purchases my Trump 72nd Thud hasn't found it's way into the loft yet for some strange reason and I just have to keep looking in the box at it - NOW, well I might just have to build the damn thing!!! Can't wait to see the finished article! Eng :P

Lovely mate, might yet be tempted to convert a 1/72 Revell kit to GR4 and with these markings. Nice to see the 9 Sqn machine again too, Rgds, Eng

Whilst searching for pic's of the real aircraft, as reference for this build, I realised the aircraft in question was that which was tragically lost on the 14th March 2005, with the loss of the pilot and paramedic, near the Mull of Kintyre during a flight on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Loganair, a franchise of British Airway's until very recently, hence the color scheme, had a contract to provide this aerial ambulance service much needed on the island dotted coastline of Scotland. Living very close to Glasgow airport these little aircraft regularly passed low over our house eit

Jonesy, I'm just glad that someone has owned up to being the instigator of my next obsession!!! I can see it now - a hunt for info, much purchasing of kits n bits, but nothing being glued together til atleast 2015!!! LOL Seriously, a great article and I'd actually love a 1/35 MH-53! Thank's for all the good info - I'm certain the Revell CH-53 is probably cheaper than the Academy machine as well. Eng
-
Hi, Hope this hasn't been brought up before but I've just finished reading the article in this months Air Forces Monthly about the MH-53's that were based at Mildenhall and the thought of a 1/48th MH-53 was quite appealing. Is the airframe of the Academy CH-53E a feasible option for a conversion or is there just to many changes to be made? Obviously the nose pod would require scratchbuilt, but how about the rest of the heli. Helicopters aren't my speciality I'm afraid so please excuse my daft questions. Eng

Nice pic's, but if that plane gets a nickname like the A-7 "SLUF" or the B-52 "BUFF" it might go something like this - U.......G.......L...........Y!!!! Eng

No one's mentioned them yet, but all of those pic's of the old smoky thingy are just fantastic!! Particularly liked the 2 rear right, 3/4 shots of the F-15E - it was the shadow of the AIM-120's on the pylon that caught my eye - brilliant, Super pic's as always. Eng <_<

Haven't looked at all the links above but 4 that spring to mind are - 757 with F-22(?) radome, BAC-111 with fighter type radome, VC-10 with single RB211 installed on L/H side, 747(-200?) with GE90 on no.2 pylon (777 testing), Am sure there will be pic's of all of these readily available online, Eng

Have to back Spike up on this, my local modelshop owner mentioned that the last he'd heard from the Airfix rep was October/early November release. Here's hoping! Eng

EK26 bound for Dubai being unceremoniously on the grass up to her axles!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgo...est/7001366.stm My colleague had to go down the taxiway to help sort out how they were going to get this monster back on the tarmac. One main gear leg off the taxiway at a particularly tricky we bend, a team of BA guy's coming up in the morning to dig it out!! Eng

Hey, this just gets better and better, every night I check out Real Aviation and there's more superb Eurofighter pic's! Bought another 1/72 Revell Typhoon today in the modelshop 1st pic outta this lot looks lovely, also pic of aircraft on roll out gives good idea of how big the jet is when you see the pilot perched all the way up there, good view I guess. Wonder how she'd do up against an F-16 in a pure turning fight, no BVR crap. Wonderful pic's - how did you end up being able to get such great photo's and such great access? Eng
-
PFM, pure ******* magic! Superb pic's, could sit and drool over these all day. Eng

Revell, for the weapons sprue's alone Revell!

Nice one, Ray thank's. Ended up browsing Airliners.net and found plenty pic's of XV105 and she sure does have those big fences, a pretty big feature for Airfix to have missed but possibly down to moulding limitations as they'll be fairly thin and are pretty tall looking. Thank's again for the info, Eng

Hi, didn't know best place for this post as it's a civvie kite in military markings! Am building the Airfix VC-10 with the intention of using the 101 Sqn annivesary markings that will be released by TwoSix decals soon, and on looking at some pics of the VC-10, Airfix appear to have missed the large wing fences that sit in line with the inboard end of the slats. Are these fences on all VC-10's or is it the case that they've been added at some point to certain aircraft? They should be easy enough to add to the kit, but i don't want to start hacking slots in the wings unless I know they are

ONE, One!! Eh, don't tell the wife but I've 2 on back order and will be lining the pockets of the local HS owner as well, kid's might not be getting any Xmas pressies right enough, LOL! Just hope it's not as much of a let down as the TSR.2 was. Eng

Lovely, thank's Darius! The pic of the Lanc is beautiful. I guess if you bring the biggest aircraft to the show you are entitled to drive it on the grass!! Thank's again, Eng

OMG!!!!!!! Those pic's have just about left me a gibbering wreck, without extensive use of expletives these are wicked pic's. The 1st with the gear retracting is just WOW, the rest are simply mind blowing, have you considered selling these as print's? You get serious bonus points for squeezing in a couple of Scottish Tonka's too!! Both 111Sqn pic's are great, especially the taxiing shot, but the best F.3 pic has to be that 56Sqn bird reefing into a turn - Superb! Looks like Coningsby is the Daddy of the fighter stations at the moment, there's just so many super pic's coming out of
