  1. I forgot to add what I was building here. I love Starfighters. My youngest son said I should build one in a Naboo starfighter livery. I think that would be cool. If I can get this done quickly, I may try to do an OS2U Kingfisher. Vern
  2. I definitely need pointers on how to do instrument panels. Nice work!
  3. Very nice! Very quick indeed! I have an Esci Red Baron in the stash, but the decals are crap.
  4. So, after a bachelor party, a birthday party, and a wedding, I finally got some time to do some modeling this weekend. First things first. I want to thank the designer who thought it was a good idea to put the copyright on an external surface. Easily eradicated. Ejector pin marks removed from the cockpit tub. Cockpit areas painted MM Dark Gull Gray and engine areas primed. Trying something different on this build. I glued the control stick in, then painted. I figure I can brush paint it on the next step.
  5. I am going to attempt this build. My history is not good at this... When I got serious about building models, at the age of 18 in 1985, this is the kit I built. I did the "NMF" finish because it was easier to do. I filled the seams with Squadron Green and sanded them with woodworking sand paper. No surface detail and deep, deep scratches. I sprayed it with Testors Silver and hit it with Dullcoat. Without masking the canopy. The exercise was a thorough lesson in what not to do. But, this kit started a long term love affair with the Starfighter. I picked up th
  6. I use Mr. Surfacer 1200 to prime. I have used Alclad primers before and they work pretty well. I just prefer Mr. Surfacer. Vern
  7. Would you be willing to share your drawings? My wife has a Cricut and I would love to give this a shot. Vern
  8. Make sure your buckets are facing outboard. I was with the 140th Wing and Niels is correct. I can't remember the year break, but IIRC the 86 birds had one chaff/flare dispenser on each side. The 87s had three on the left and one on the right. We flew PIDS to bring up the number of dispensers. Slant GBU-12's on a TER on the PIDS on station 7. Vern
  9. Let it dry thoroughly before recoating. You can also thin 1:1 with IPA or Mr. Color Leveling Thinner for better control. Great stuff! Vern
  10. Training AIM-120s also have no motor exhaust. Fill in any holes on the end, sand, and paint. Vern
  11. What Mstor said. Also, before throwing it in the ultrasonic cleaner, you need to remove your o-rings and packings. Iwata makes a special tool set that allows you to get them out easily - https://www.amazon.com/Iwata-Medea-Iwata-Professional-Maintenance-Tools/dp/B019EGII40 Vern
  12. :( Saw the story on the news, but the newscaster said an F-16 from Nellis was down. Vern
  13. I am interested, but no guarantee of success. Vern
  14. Do you know what year Terra Haute became an intel wing? We picked up a couple of loaders from them in Colorado a few years before I retired. Vern
  15. Both units were deployment partners for my old unit, 140th Wing/120th FS. While I don't know for sure on the inlet size, I will go out on a limb and say Indiana's jets were big mouth inlets. Do you have a plan for surgery to convert from the P&W engines to the GE engines and the inlet? Vern "Without Weapons, it's just another airline."
  16. If you can afford it, splurge for the Iwata Eclipse. Much easier to maintain than the Revolution. Vern
  17. I may end up gluing everything with CA in the end. Let me ask it this way: It looks like I have to twist an fold some parts, like part 12 - Will they hold up to the abuse? Vern
