  1. My great great Uncle (10th Light Horse Regiment) was one of those killed at the Battle of the Nek on August 7th 1915. He certainly fell with his face to the foe, along with his entire platoon, none who survived the assault on the Turkish trenches. They never found his body. We need to remember that these verses were written in that era for that era. They might for some sound odd today, but I doubt they did when they were written. Lest We Forget
  2. Today in Australia it is the 25th April. During the dawn of this day, 99 years ago in 1915, a force of Australian and New Zealand troops landed at Gallipoli Cove in the Dardanelles under heavy fire by the Turkish Defenders. On this day and the months that followed, the ANZAC legend was born. They went with songs to the battle, they were young. Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the ye
  3. Purchased this on Friday. I missed out last time it was released, but not this time. :D
  4. Just finished my Dragon Challenger 2 (Iraq 2003) build. I used Modelmaster Acryl British gulf war light stone dirtied up with Mig washes and pigments. The Acryl is marvellous to spray and is very hard wearing. I sourced the road sign online and scaled it according to ISO standards for directional signs (Standards Australia and Austroads publications. I am a road engineer by profession) I also scratch built the thermal panels on the turret front as they were not included in the kit. The aircraft recognition panel is dental xray lead foil secured to the antenna mounts by invisible thread. Th
  5. Now that is superb! Waiting still for my kit
  6. I used Modelmaster Acryl 4813 British Gulf War Armour. A very fine paint. Hooked on this range.
  7. It has been quite a while since I posted a finished build. Life has been "interesting" over the last 9 months. More grandchildren including a grandson to introduce into modelling when he is older (conspiring with his dad on that score), my marriage imploding and a few other things. But, I have re-discovered my modelling mojo and recently finished the Trumpeter Warrior MCV. I used Modelmaster Acryl for the base coat colour and am most impressed with the paint. It is very durable, sprays well and brush paints well. I used Vallejo for detail painting. MIG dark washes and pigments finished the
  8. Dealing with them for several years now. They are good.
  9. I lost 24kg last year. Down below my target weight of 74-75kg so happy with that. Dukan Diet plus exercise was what worked for me.
  10. Gents. Keep the politics out. Australia made this change close to four years ago now. We do not use them at home because CFL's are documented to cause migraines and that is certainly reflected in the fact that the moment we started to use CFL's our daughters and my wife started experiencing more attacks. I use Halogen bulbs and am now installing LED's throught the house.
  11. I learned to drive in a 4.1 Cortina. No power steering and it handled and steered like a tank but it was very stable. 78 model I think. My father dropped a 4.1 into his new Cortina as country residents, he wanted an air/con.
  12. Always enjoyed this ARC tradition. :)
  13. Got mine on Friday. Very nice. Even has a choice of seated or standing Vader figures
  14. Prayers out to all in NSW from the West.
  15. Wishing you a quick and trouble free recovery Terry
  16. I finished this Trumpeter Super Pershing a couple of weeks ago and have just completed another Trumpeter Kit, the rather nice Merkava III. Trumpeter's Super Pershing is a mixed bag, with rather chunky detail, tricky tracks and lots of cleanup needed. In the end though, it built up rather well. This seems to be a test/prototype version, not one of the few sent to Europe in late 1944. So I kept weathering to the minimum. Trumpeter paints as per usual, base coat airbrushed this time.
  17. All the best Terry. Please keep us all posted on your recovery.
  18. Melbourne Model Expo 2013 photo gallery. They are "as is" I did miss a number of competition entries out. But the gallery is pretty comprehensive.
