  1. Why not try to scratch rotary launchers for the JDAMs? Some one earlier in this thread (I forget who and couldn't immediatey lodcate the page) did a good job. I also tried to scratch a rotary launcher and a conventional rack for cluster bombs. Not quite as sharp as the previous example by better by far than the kit launcher: Don
  2. Thanks for the additional photos, Brett. I'll echo the others and say truly impressive. And a great tip from Shaun re: the position of the open bomb bay doors. I'll keep that in mind as I progress (right now, still working on the front gear bay and cockpit). Don
  3. Very nice Brett. You loaded the bomb bays, didn't you? If so, we need more photos. Also, can't remember if you used acrylics or enamel; was this ModelMaster gunship gray? Don
  4. Sorry to hear about your wintery weather. Like the tiger stripes; cool stuff. Before you seal the decals, I think it would really be worthwhile to ask the forum community for a spare decal. Easy enough to remove your mounted decals with some tape and reapply if you get another copy. As an example, my kit came with plastic injection molded wheels for the landing gear, which I didn't like all that much. I noticed that one of the earlier forum contributors had built his aircraft with gear up and I set him a note inquiring about the rubber tires that he didn't use. A very generous forum mem
  5. Oops! Background decal is upside down. Those 2 part decals can sometimes be a pain. Maybe someone is planning to use one of the other squadron symbols from the TwoBobs sheet for their build and can spare a copy. But overall, it's coming along nicely. Don
  6. Hey, looks pretty good to me, Brett! I think that I'll be doing alot of living and learning with this project. :) But what's life without a little challenge. Utley, I thought that you would be impressed with this book. A great resource for Bone builders. My plan is to use the auxillary fuel tank to scratch two TMDs and mount a rotary launcher in the third bay. If the scratch building fails, I'll default to the 2Mikes. Same for the exhaust cans. First try will be the Eduard set and if I screw that up, I'm hoping the recent rumor that Aires is going to release a resin set is true.
  7. From the Daco book, the dark panels on the fuselage are access panels to the radio frequency surveillance and electronic countermeasures systems. There should be slanted antennas for these systems on the fuselage just above the access panels. Don
  8. Brett, How fragile are those Eduard cans once assembled? I'm gearing up to start my build and was not sure if it would be wiser to attach them near the end of assembly to prevent me from dinging them. Also, from what I understand, you painted the insides of the engine nacelles just by taping off the ends and filling with white housepaint? Don
  9. Oh don't tell me that; I've already got a set. Figured that this was going to be one heavy model so metal landing gear was desired. What problems are you having with the SAC gear? Don
  10. Figured that you would like those photos. I hesitated posting the photos; don't know if there are any copyright violation considerations. But if it spurs you to purchase your own copy of the book (and it is a great reference for the Bone and you should have your own copy), then I'll argue to Mr. Peeters that it was good advertising. Will be watching how your scratch building progresses. Don
  11. Try Squadron; I think that they're in stock. For discussion purposes only, these images are reproduced from the DACO book and show the mechanisms that move the control surfaces of the B1 wing. Don
  12. I was thinking of pages 7,8 of the DACO Peeters book. Bottom of page 7 seems to show the Fowlers extended in the detail that you would need. Page 8 shows details of the slats and the mechanism of flap extension. Are you looking form something else? Don
  13. Wow! What a resource this thread will be. I'm gearing up to begin a Bone in a couple of weeks and I'm greatly impressed by some of the finished and in progress builds here. Lots of inspiration for detailing which will certainly tax and likely surpass my current skill level to accomplish, but trying is half the fun, eh? This kit seems to be a bit like a catch-22; the payload provided is appropriate for an early SAC Bone but the decals provided in the more recent release are more current aircraft. The FoxOne decals for early Bones are unavailable from any source, as far as I can tell. OT
  14. Zactoman, Thanks for the reply and I did not mean to imply that I had a defective part, if that is the way that my original message came across. To the contrary, I applaud the efforts of guys like yourself who make available aftermarket products and give modelers choices in how to build and detail their kits. After reading your post; re-reading your post; and going back over it once again, I finally correctedly understood your instructions as to what material might need to be removed to make the diameters mate nicely. Whether or not I'll be able to accomplish it at this point is s
  15. I'm relatively new to modeling; have been lurking here for a while and it's a great resource of information. I'm currently building the Trumpeter 1/32 Flanker and want to use the corrected nosecone produced by ZactoModels. But I've run into a problem that has me stumped. The diameter of the resin nosecone is about 1/8" smaller than the fuselage, leaving a significant step ahead of the front landing gear bay when joined. I know there are several detailed posts at this site describing builds of this kit and I can't recall anyone mentioning fit issues with the Zactomodel part, so I fig
