    1/72 Aeroflot AN-24

Hello All, Recently completed the Amodel 1/72 AN-24 in old Soviet Aeroflot scheme. Decal is from Revaro. Finished model is not that big as compared to other Amodel giants. An-24 must be a small aircraft. Model had some fit issues like most of the Amodel. But nothing major. But Revaro decal was a challenge around the windows and cheat lines. They got the window counts wrong and they don't line up against the clear windows. So had to cut and move to some degree to make it presentable. Now the pictures. 44371650_10217553649456218_4927983623606370304_o by Vivek K, on Flickr 44384996_10217553651696274_6924827109084889088_o by Vivek K, on Flickr 44387817_10217553649776226_7213257080956780544_o by Vivek K, on Flickr 44402481_10217553652496294_7053405476305764352_o by Vivek K, on Flickr 44453016_10217553649576221_2708687216179150848_o by Vivek K, on Flickr 44491729_10217553650736250_6005853229005406208_o by Vivek K, on Flickr 44522645_10217553648656198_2402541152751321088_o by Vivek K, on Flickr 44554486_10217553653496319_8377400798237163520_o by Vivek K, on Flickr 44327516_10217553653776326_7575769680996990976_o by Vivek K, on Flickr Hope you like it

    1/48 F-14A Sundowners

Friends, Coming back here with my latest build after almost of year as I didn't build anything in the last 11 months. I decided to build the old 1/48 F-14A Monogram kit as part of a group build in another forum. This is an old kit with lots of nice details but with raised panel lines. Also I tired some techniques I wanted to try for a very long time. SALT weathering on naval aircraft. After seeing several beautiful salt weathered models here and ARC , I gave it a shot. What I learned from this process was, patience is the key and building up layers slowly brings out the desired weathered effect. Started with the cockpit details and also included pilot and WSO figures. I hand paint the helmets of them with the sundowners scheme. You can see it in the picture. General assembly was very straight forward except, some ugly gaps while putting together the fuselage halves. So had to go through the ritual of putty and sanding and care was taken not to sand away the raised panel lines. After the primer , i started the long sequence of building the mottled pattern with salt and diluted based color and some dirt and grime color. I used both table salt and the rock salt. Used hair dryer to dry the water. I am over all pleased with how it turned out. Next came the challenge of decaling as the kit decal was silvered and the binding glue started coagulating when it hit the water. it was pretty frustrating , but with patience and perseverance I was able to get it right. I wanted to load the aircraft heavily. So took the time to decal the black lines and it took a good couple of hours. I thoroughly enjoyed this build and am pleased with the end result. Hope you all like it. Now, to the pictures...

  10. Thanks Janman. I can tell you are also a big fan of this marking from your profile logo !!!
  11. Hello All, Started this as a part of group build with a good friend of mine. We both picked up the Zvezda kit as we both like the "Vsegda" markings of the Liptesk Flight school after seen Flankerman's(Ken) pictures and it comes with the kit. I wanted to weather the aircraft little heavily after seeing some really weathered look pics of the real thing. The only scratch built feature was the chaff and flare dispensers. Model was painted with Model master acrylic light ghost grey, Tamiya white, Model master metallizer. Also made the nose radome dirty like the real bird. Fit was not that bad except in some places near the intake needed putty and sanding. Decals were in decent shape. Weathering achieved with artist oils.Over all it was an enjoyable build. Now to the pictures. Let me know how you all like it, Thanks Vivek
  12. This is an old but superb LS kit that I picked up from one of the swap meets last year. I thoroughly enjoyed building this bird and the end result was not bad either. It was a quick weekend build. Decals were OOB and the paints were model master gull gray and Tamiya flat white acrylics. Now, some pictures Let me know , how you like it Regards Vivek K

    Armee De L'air Rafale B

My first build for 2016. Got inspired by the weathered birds from Operation Serval in Mali . 1/48 Hobby Boss Rafale B. Built the kit OOB. Used Tamiya acrylics for painting and oils for weathering. The cockpit canopy fit was surprisingly bad for a Hobby Boss kit. But other than that it was a straight forward build. Now lets look at the pictures. Let me know how you like it Regards Vivek
