  1. Greetings fellow Fortress-Fanatics, I've started on my Academy -B. I need your recommendations on how to do some of the small nose and cabin windows. Some of these don't fit very well. I can either go ahead and glue them in and fill and sand them to fit. Then use polishing compound and Future to bring them back to clear view. Or, I can just leave them off and fill them at the end with Microscale Kristal Klear. What are your thoughts?
  2. Thanks Rich, PM sent! What a lovely little kit. Well worth the money spent, IMHO
  3. Greetings mates, I have the following Wolfpak 1/72 sheets and WILL NOT need these subjects. If it is not listed, I want to keep it. Otherwise, I am willing to trade for other Wolfpak subjects that I want. Or I can pay for the ones I want. If you find something you want and don't have anything to trade, I will see what we can work out. You can go to the Wolfpak web site and check out the views of all these subjects. Clicky 72-022 Special Ops (I might be willing to part with this whole sheet if you really have something I want) OH-6C (160th SOAR) MH-60L (160th SOAR) MH-47E (160th SO
  4. WolfPak Decals has you covered for an F-105F. I believe they also did a G on one of the earlier sheets but it is out of production now. Anyways... Sheet 72-031 $16.00 SAM Busters & Tyke Clicky
  5. Sorry to resurect this old fossil but I have managed to obtain a Fine Molds A6M3 Type 32 kit but not the Scale Aviation magazines that provide the instructions, etc. I can assemble the kit as I also have also the Fine Molds A6M2 Type 21 kit but I would like the the painting and markings guide for the A6M3. Can anyone do a scan and email them to me or is there a source on the net somewhere? I haven't been able to find the complete instructions listed. thanks!

    TechMod Decals -

Oh snap. I have two TechMod sheets now, Spitfire Mk. IX and Mk. V. I'll hold off on getting any more. What a shame as they have done a lot of interesting subjects.
  7. At Nellis AFB in 1979-80 the 474th TFW F-4D's typically carried two wing mounted 370 gallon tanks, a TER on an inboard pylon with three 500 lb bombs and three Maverick missles on the other inboard pylon. They also occasionally carried a gun pod on the centerline. Three bags (centerline and two wing tanks) were only used for ferry flights. It was the standard F-4 centerline tank, not the F-15 type which at that time was reserved for the G models. I found this photo. It is identified as 430th TFS but is actually the 428th as their color was blue. The 429th was yellow and the 430th was red

    TechMod Decals -

Greetings mates, I have found some TechMod decals that interest me. They do some subjects that no one else seems to bother with. I seem to remember that some modelers have had big-time problems with TechMod decals cracking and falling apart. Are they worth ordering or should I stay clear of them? thanks! Clicky

    P-51K vs. P-51D

Guys, I have several Hasegawa current tool 1/72 P-51D and K kits in my stash. They all have both the Hamilton Standard cuffed prop and the Aeroproducts prop. The only difference in the boxings is the decals and the canopy. The "D" boxing comes with an Aneheim style (standard) canopy and the "K" boxing comes with the Dallas style (more raked) canopy. Everything else is the same in the boxings I have. HTH ;) PS, as someone previously mentioned, some Dallas D's were built that are identical to Aneheim D's. The K was essentially for the Aeroproducts prop.
  10. I'm doing the Academy B-17B out of box. See here for my plans for markings. Clicky
  11. And a modeling nightmare for us. Krikey! I think my Has B-24 is going to be from CBI. ;)
  12. I'm in with the Academy B-17B. I hope to make it look like this. 19th Bombardment Group, 32nd Bombardment Squadron, March Field, California, 1940.
  13. Great, thanks! How about the tail wheel? Normal G-6 type or the G-10 tall non-retracting type?
  14. Greg, Thanks, interesting photos but unless I'm mistaken they are for a G-2, not a G-14. The mystery continues. Not sure if these photos show airacraft from the same squadron at an earlier date with same ID codes. That is my hunch as Hungary got G-2's and later got G-6's and G-14's. Going to add them to my saved photos. Cheers!
  15. Greetings mates, I inherited a HungAeroDecal for Royal Hungarian Air Force Bf 109G-14. Instructions are a little vague on some areas. Or maybe it's because I don't speak Hungarian. See the sheet link below. Does anyone know of any online photo references for Hungarian Air Force Bf 109s? I have googled and binged until my hair turned blue but no joy except for some artists renderings and models. I am particularly interested in the top aircraft, W-0 + 58. It appears that the white areas on the roundels have been painted over with RLM gray green 74. At least on the fuselage roundels.

    Iwo Jima based P-51D's

Yep, you are correct. They were 110 gallon tanks. My mind is going. I have an earlier thread about the subject. Clicky

    Iwo Jima based P-51D's

I think that is a replacement aircraft for one of the three groups on Iwo Jima. It has the radio antenna moved to below the fuselage between the inboard gear doors. That's a sure sign it has the "Uncle Dog" twin anntennas on the aft fuselage spine. To my knowledge, only Iwo Jima based Mustangs had those during the war. They were assigned the very long range escort role. Technically assigned to 7th Fighter Command the chain of command went up to 20th Air Force. These groups were the 15th, 21st and 506th. The Mustang in the photo appears to be a very late D-20 or a D-25 which had the rock
  18. L/F Fine Molds 1/72 A6M2 or A6M3 Zero. Prefer an A6M3 but won't be choosy. Can do Pay Pal or what ever payment method you prefer.
  19. Sorry, have to whine. Just spent good money on eBay for what I thought were the "newer" tool Hasegawa 1/72 A6M3 Zero's. Boxes were sealed and marked with copyright of 1994 so I thought they were the newer tool. Just opened one to find it's the same 1970's vintage kit that I just gave away to my IPMS club as free gifts to kids. I can't blame the seller because boxes were sealed and I don't think he knew what was in them either. Just a few weeks ago I sent away to jolly old England hoping to get the new tool Airfix Spitfire. I didn't know that Airfix still has the old tool in their lin
  20. The ACIG site has an excellent online article about the DPRKAF. The only topside photos of the MiG-21's do not show roundels. I don't know about some of their other aircraft, but that's the way I built my MiG-15. No roundels on top of the wings. Clicky
  21. Condor Decals from Argentina has got you covered. I ordered a couple sheets from them and worked the transaction with PayPal. No problems. Nice decals. I used them on my HobbyBoss MiG-15. Clicky
  22. "We didn't get a harumph out of that guy."
  23. I would like to have at least one A6M3 Type 32 since my dad fought them during the Solomons campaign. In 2006 I had a chance to have a close look at the Planes of Fame Zero. I asked my dad if he would like me to get a photo of it. He said the only way he wanted to see a Zero again was through his gunsight! Once a fighter pilot, always a fighter pilot! The Hasegawa kits are very good and can be picked up for a song on eBay. I will probably just have one or two of the Fine Molds Zeros and more of the Hasegawa kits.
  24. That's pretty disappointing about the intake splitter. That's what the Dragon kit has for an intake, just a splitter but no trunking. Conversely, the new Hobbyboss MiG-15 has complete trunking that is really nice. I guess it will be up to the aftermarket guys to provide better intake trunking for the AZ MiG-17. Think I'll pass on this one. I've still got a Dragon Ji-5 (MiG-17F) in the stash. Clicky
