  1. Voyager, the maquis ship and the Kazon cruiser were rereleased by RoG in November and can be found in the starship modeller store, but voyager is presently sold out. I am not certain how or if they are different from previous releases, but I would imagine Voyager is based on the second edition which included a clear part for the main deflector Voyager http://www.starshipmodeler.com/newshop/ind...Product_ID=1612 Maquis fighter http://www.starshipmodeler.com/newshop/ind...Product_ID=1630 Kazon cruiser http://www.starshipmodeler.com/newshop/ind...Product_ID=1629 PS I loathe voyager... jus
  2. prone to obsession? Talk about understatement, Janeway was a pathological, homicidal, sociopathic martinet bent on ruling her crew with an iron fist... christ I hated just about everything about that show, the best thing about it is that it eventually ended I am right with you on that, at least those episodes could be watchd for their pure camp and goofiness, the 'they're so bad its funny' factor... the new movie was not Trek to me, it was a generic sci fi flick with unfamiliar characters who happen to share the same names as our heroes
  3. I built one of those earlier this year, its a nice kit but it does have some accuracy issues and it lacks some details particularly in the engines
  4. I did that a couple years ago, used the saucer from an aborted PL Enterprise as a base for a light up Bird of Prey I did, looked pretty good but the two models together are friggin' enormous, needs a ton of shelfspace

    Lighting

I've done a few light up projects in the past couple years, nothing overly sophisticated but I've learned a few things about how its done... first thing I can suggest is do NOT start your lighting career with ththe PL Enterprise, instead you should buy a small, cheap kit that you can practice with, my first light up model was a Klingon Bird of Prey, that was a really easy kit to learn on. The PL Enterprise is just too big and too expensive in my opinion to warrant using as a first try model. Secondly, I can't recommend using rice bulbs, LEDs are far superior, in terms of brightness, power u
  6. very pretty, but needs some dirtying up a bit
  7. the zaku and gouf are freakin' awesome, but the Gundam face on the front end is a little creepy
  8. seriously? That movie was friggin' terrible
  9. it was a brewery, actually... and if old = big, then how come the original series enterprise was so small? The 750m size doesn't make even the slightest bit of sense from a scaling point of view, just compare the features of this ship, particularly the saucer section, to the refit enterprise, they're very clearly the same size and scale... PS I'm not kidding, engineering really was a brewery
  10. according to 'sources', the new movie enterprise is around 750metres long, in other words, she's even longer than the Sovereign class Enterprise E yeah, its just about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard too
  11. its on sale at Hobbylink Japan right now for 37,800yen, which translates to around $385USD mind you, shipping is around $150 on top of that... but still!
  12. I phoned in my info, once they have it they keep it on file so you'll never have to send it in again. I've been deadling with SM for a couple years now and I've never had a problem
  13. they didn't say she was a child, only that she was a young woman, which could place her anywhere from 15ish to almost 30, plenty old enough to have had children
  14. what's more, the engine was reworked from a juice bottle!
  15. I think doing so though gave them a better overall chance of survival, their ships wouldn't have been much use to them on the ground except maybe as shelters, and with no manufacturing ability left they couldn't make spare parts when things broke down, eventually the ships would have to be abandoned anyway. Alvis and I were talking about this yesterday and he made an excellent point, after 4 years cooped up in a tin can floating in space, fearing every minute that you could be killed by a toaster, I'd want to have as little to do with technology as possible for a good long time. Given the op
  16. and Galactica is older than all of them, its jump system is no doubt much more primitive than theirs are
  17. She was referred to as the 'herald of the apocalypse', according to dictionary.com the most relevant definition of apocalypse is: a prophetic revelation, esp. concerning a cataclysm in which the forces of good permanently triumph over the forces of evil. sounds fairly appropriate to me I suspect they act as structural reinforcement, they ship obviously is stressed very heavily when it jumps, and the middle of the ship is quite narrow, so the pods are retracted essentially to make the ship more solid, less prone to torque
  18. CultTVMan has a preorder up for the reissue at $63.95USD, but I bought a lot of aftermarket stuff for mine... I figure I had to have spent $300 on mine
  19. almost forgot... for those who doubt how big this thing is PS I'm 6'7"
  20. Well I've officially crushed my record for longest time spent working on a single project... my last record was roughly 9 weeks on my 1/350 NX-01 ISS Enterprise, and I honestly never thought I'd ever top it as I tend to work pretty fast... short attention span I guess. In any event, I started this build back in october, and while I did take a couple breaks during that time, I probably put in about 12-16 weeks of work on this monster. I've been doing a lot of lighting projects over this past year, essentially to get myself ready for this thing, my previous lighting projects typically using
  21. it's finished, hooray! Actually I finished it close to a week ago, I just haven't had a chance to take any pics before tonight As I may have mentioned before, I had some difficulties with my flat clearcoat, I guess the bottle was old or something, because it cracked as it was drying and damaged the weathering that I had done... needless to say, I wasn't impressed. Fortunately I was able to cover it up with still more weathering, but the end result is a far more weathered bird than I was planning... ah well, c'est la vie. You may have noticed the red splotches here and there, tho
  22. toy version of the new Enterprise by Playmates still not quite sure how I feel about the new look...
