  1. Sweet!! I just joined. I have already found about 10 guys I know.
  2. I am building two right now, but I have a lack of A-4 source material. Did you have to adjust the nose strut to make it sit higher?
  3. The guy was right, I looked at the jet today, from the top of the wing. It is pretty obvious.
  4. I like it better than the painting on the cover of the Osprey book. Looks great!!
  5. Good Gracious!!!!!!! That film "There Is A Way" had all the people in it that Ed Rasimus mentioned in his book When Thunder Rolled!!!! That was Major Rasimus at the beginning telling about going to be an instructor pilot!!!! It was like watching a ghost when Karl Richter was talking. I have never seen this 105 site before, but this video blows my mind.
  6. we switched to the gridlock stabs a few years back, they had drain holes in them, and I havent seen one break since. I did see 90-0249 come back from flight with 3/4 of its left aileron missing because of water entrapment. Its pieces hit 90-0235's left vert and damaged it.
  7. as said above, that really depends on the corrosion crew, and how good or bad they are.
  8. LOL I was thinking that, but I wasn't going to type it........but since you did, the 11th Air force Flagship is literally peeling paint by the sheet!!!
  9. I was told by the local hobby guy up here to thin acrylics with windex. Does anyone know if this is a valid method? And if it is, what is the mix ratio for flat colors? Thanks
  10. Lucky me, my first jet followed me from Elmo to Mountain Home. Heck, Ive only been in 10, and they call me an old guy around here!!
  11. The FM Falcon is just a sweet dream to me, I don't think it will ever happen in reality to me.
  12. Cockpits can be different between two identical aircraft anyway. With all the mods that we get, some of those guys judt do it different. Ive even seen jets that had control panels in backwards.
  13. The only panel differences would be the extra GE engine doors on the top and bottom, and panel 122 was different on the light grays also. it had the cut out for the flex strap that we didn't have on the E. Like he said above, the Landing gear is completely different, its not even the same wheels and tires. The tail cones are different on the light gray models too, I think they only have one RWR mod, where the E has two in the back. As far as the Stab stiffeners, agree, that I cant remember if I have ever seen a light gray with them or not, but not all e models have them anyway. I have
  14. didnt the monogram/revell a model have the early A wheels?
  15. I think I saw the short comm door A models at sheppard.
  16. What I was saying was that 71-0291 was the original Strike Eagle demonstrator, and thats where the funky rear cockpit MPD's and MPCD's come from. Granted, I got this Information from the old Lou Drendal Squadron book, so I dont know how accurate it is, but the tail number was in the picture.
  17. I am pretty sure that the Academy F-15 Tub is based off of 71-291, which was the B model that did all the test work for the E model. I think it has light gray wheels, and it has the tailhook fairing. I personally dont like Academy F-15's , mainly because the wing dosent follow the real panel lines, and the fact that the engine nacelles are too steep on the sides.
  18. We just call them streamers on the flightline.
  19. Man, I wish I could do that. It makes me want to throw everything away that I have built so far!!
  20. I knew the dollies were. A few of the olddudes back when I came in in98 used to call the star wars dollies Israeli dollies
  21. The FAST Packs were different size?
  22. negative, I have only worked E models. When I first came in, we would fly 120's on the bottom aft CFT with our GBU-15 jets
  23. I cant speak for the F-4, but my guess is that it is the same as modern day F-15 ops........We usually dont remove the pylons unless abso;utely necessary, because it would require an ops check by Weapons upon install. On E model F-15's (which is all I have ever crewed until my recent assignment to lawn darts) we always had a centerline pylon weather we carried anything on it or not.
  24. We used to fly 120's on the aft bottom station alot in the late 90's.
