  1. Yeah, exactly - hence my post. Thanks.
  2. Does anyone have resin wheels for the 1/32 MiG-21? I am starting my build of Trumpeter's MiG-21UM and I really don't like the idea of the rubber tires. I think they will not stand up over time, so I would feel more comfortable with resin. If anyone knows a website that has them, or if someone has a set to get rid of, please let me know. I have been looking all over the internet and can't find anything. I also saw a resin detail set that featured a plug for the engine and a nose cover. but I don't know the name of the company - anyone have experience with it? Thanks in advance for any help.
  3. This is the only Swifts decal set I have seen in 1/48: Swifts 2003 I am guessing these are not the set you want.
  4. Looks to me like you could use the Fowler's decals for the stars - the rest would be generic Microscale lettering, or possibly model RR lettering. And BTW it's great to have another former LEO on the ARC fourms.
  5. Thanks for all of the input guys. I've ordered decals for the "Poznan Swordfish" MiG-21, and even though it is a single-seater, I will use the decals for the -UM version of the 21. I just want it to stand out a little from others, and I know the "Anti-Stress" decals are not completely correct. It should look pretty good when it's done.
  6. You got that right - I just threw my Revell 1/48 F-14A right in the vertical file! I had it built up and was decaling but it kept wanting to suck! :( No more of those for me either!
  7. Anyone have a pair of Russian rocket pods for a 1/32 MiG-21? I'd pay or trade you the missiles that came with my MiG-21UM. Please PM with anything. Thanks.
  8. Well, to anyone needing parts for a Korean-War era build, I have the rockets and 250lb bombs left from my F9F build. They are in fact free to the first person who PMs me.
  9. That's even better news - thanks for taking care of that for me.
  10. Has anyone tried any of the Albatros decals for the 1/32 Mig-21? I am seriously considering picking up a set for the Polish AF Mig-21 with the swordfish on the side of the fuselage. I wanted to hear about decal quality, what is on the sheet, etc. Also, regarding painting natural metal - I have an airbrush and am good with it. I have read about the ALCLAD paints (sorry if I spelled it wrong) - how hard are they to use and how do they react to Future over coats? I want this plane to stand out and I don't want it to seem like work since I'll lose my patience with it. Thanks in advance for any poi
  11. Chuck, just PM me if you find them and we'll work out a deal. Thanks a bunch!
  12. Thank you all for your responses. I should have titled this "anyone have LEFTOVER decals in 1/72..." I was just looking for anyone's leftovers. It's not the kind of project where I want to spend a bunch of money - the plane cost me $5.
  13. I have a late model Corsair that I'd like to build as some kind of South American or Caribbean plane to go with others in my stash. I wound up with the plane by accident (thought I had bid on a 1/48 scale one - next time I'll read carefully... ) so at least I can try to blend it in.. Thanks in advance for any help folks.

I have a set of his decals in 1/35 for my UH-1 projects, and they are GREAT! Highly recommended!
  15. Thanks for the info. I have concluded from all I have gathered that I will simply build the kit as is. I will paint the kit using the info provided here, and use my aftermarket decals and PE to enhance the look, but that is it. I really just like the look of the F9F-2, and I'd like to finish a kit this year. Thanks again folks for the help!
  16. Since CC isn't open for business right now, I was wondering if anyone had extra stencils and markings they wanted to part with for the Blackhawk. I believe the stencils are in OD because the bird is black. Please PM me if you can help. Thanks.
  17. Anyone? Class? Anyone? Just looking to get my painting accurate as possible. I have Trumpeter's kit and I ain't going crazy with it. I have Eduard's zoom PE for the cockpit and some aftermarket decals. Thanks in advance for any help.
  18. That's absolutely great work so far - keep it going!!
  19. Wow! Great build! Two thumbs up for you!!
  20. Here is the completed UH-1. I have tried to weather the rotors and the fuselage just a bit - nothing crazy. I realized that I was supposed to add the exhaust before I joined the engine parts together, but it was too late, so it sticks way out. Outside of that, many lessons learned for the next one. Again, this build was out-of-box with HaHen decals - the decals were good with a couple of exceptions- the "NOTARZT" decals curled up and took lots of work to flatten out, and I still had to coat the windows in Future to get a consistent look. Their numbers and crosses were fine - the squadron shiel
  21. Rich - the colors I used were Olive Drab (probably not exactly right but close enough for me), Dark Green (confirmed) and Schwarzgrau RLM66 (confirmed). I had found a website just for German helos here: German Colors Again, thanks for the encouragement.
  22. Thanks for the kind words guys. Does anyone know about the wipers in the Dragon version (PE parts MB24 and MB25) - are you supposed to fold each one to make one blade, or are there two pairs of blades?
  23. Here is my Dragon/Panda UH-1 built as an SAR bird assigned to LTG-63. I have built the kit out-of-box for IPMS purposes. The decals are from HaHen of Germany, and they look great. Only one issue while using them was some of the decals tended to curl when applied, and I used a bit of Solvaset to get them down. This was my first airbrush camo job, and I like it. I used a coat of Future floor polish over the camo, then a black wash from "The Detailer" and decals. Next came a flat coat of Testors enamel. I still have to assemble the props, tail rotor and exhaust. I've already heard about the stora
