  1. I was looking at the Tamiya paint Tracy has suggested and saw a Pearl Clear TS-65 spray paint. Would that be the ticket or would that be too much?
  2. Thanks Tracy, your ship looks great (along with phantom's) Curt, The windows on your E looks green. Did you use resin or was the first edition had green windows for it?
  3. Thanks, that really helps I have not done anything to the model, just reading the instructions first. Have anyone use or know someone that used the Trekmodeler light kit? This baby has to have some lights
  4. I was reading the instructions on painting the ship, and there is some confussion on my part. It says that a "gloss pearlescent white is suggested for the ship's overall color". But towards the end of the instructions, it says "a final coat of dull clear once decals are applied". So which is it, gloss or dull? What clear coat should I use to protect the decals, but also allow the pearlescent white to show? Also, where do you get pearlescent white? I bought the PL Enterpise that has the Aztec decal with the kit. Thanks,
  5. I picked up the Polar Lights Enterpise kit the other day and was looking through the internet to get some ideas. I did run across a couple of photo etchings over at Starship Modelers. They have a couple of sets there and was wondering which one to get. Here are the two that I found: This is from ParaGraphix http://www.starshipmodeler.com/newshop/ind...Product_ID=1473 This is from PNT http://www.starshipmodeler.com/newshop/ind...;Product_ID=849 Is there any other thing I should get to correct this model? I am planning to add led's but not sure which way to go at the moment. Thanks,
  6. Solved my problem of nothing showing in the option box to switch to normal mode. I had loaded the latest IE awhile back and it has a compatiblility view button next to the address bar. Once I clicked on it for websites that are older and can not view properly, the option box was populated and was able to switch back to normal view. Hope this help other people with the same problem.
  7. I am having the same problem "threaded vs normal view", but when I click on the option box, it drops down and there is nothing in it. I tried different areas of the board to click th option box, but still nothing. Tried leaving an email at the forumsupport@arcair.com a few days ago but no one has gotten back to me. Help!!!!

    Vector P&W R-2800

Thanks Don. Since I am building the F4U-4, Vector has two types of magnetos for this engine. Is one more correct than the other, or is it what was available at the time? Trying to decide whether this Corsair will be during or post WWII. Just wish someone out there will make some aftermarket decals besides the defunct Cutting Edge. Thanks.

    Vector P&W R-2800

I picked up the Vector P&W for my Corsair and have a couple of questons. Since I really have not use resin before, would just warm soap and water would be good to remove the release agent or do I need something stronger? The other question is weathering the engine. I read on LSP web site that someone painted his engine gloss black and then rubbed aluminum on the fins of the cylinders. The other idea is to paint the engine aluminum and then put a wash between the fins on the cylinders. What would be the better way to do this? Thanks
  12. Thanks guys, appreciate the help :D I went to the New England Air Museum yesterday to take some pictures of the XF4U-4 they had on exhibit. I did not realize how much fabric is on the wings . I missed out on open cockpit day, I might try going there next month when they do it again. I wished I was able to get a little closer for some close-up pictures. I did not realize that the P-47 used Curtis Electric props (NEAM has a P-47 there), which explains the different prop design. I remember somewhere that some props used "cuffs". What do they do? I will probably spring for the Vector en
  13. Hey Guys, I' am new to props and wanted to get a 1/32 F4U-4 Corsair. I picked up a Trumpeter at the LHS yesterday and now need some help to steer me in the right direction. I have tried searching this site so not to rehash something that has been covered. 1. I want to build the -4 during the later part of WWII. The decal that came with it is kind of lame for this era. I have tried to search for aftermarket replacements but could not find any. Any suggestions who might have some? 2. I read somewhere that the engine is not correct. Is this something that can be corrected, or should I go for t
  14. Stevens International is going to rerelease the Monogram 1/48 Prowler. Sprue Brothers have it on their web page and will be release sometime in the 4th Quarter.
