  1. Great work Cap, keep it up. You're making me want to add a 1/48 Tamiya F-14 to the stash.
  2. Thinned down white, gah now I wish I was further along so I can try that out. Thanks. Ha, fortunately my work has an Opti-Visor that they won't mind if I borrow over the weekend. That and my worklamp with a built in magnifier should make fairly simple. Key word being should.
  3. Great work on the Tomcat, @CaptainObvious What color did you use for the mottling? It looks like either a light ghost grey, or flat white? Man, my eyes aren't what they used to be. I'm building a 1/72 Hase F-14A, as a late 70's Sundowners bird. I'm planning on using the same AeroBonus figures too. Keep up the good work!
  4. I built this for a friend who is a fan of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series. My first Sci-Fi kit in an insanely long time, and come to think of it, the first kit I've actually completed in a number of years. I tried a few new to me techniques for this one, adding physical scratches to the paint, weathering with an airbrush etc. I also used Mr. Surfacer 500 for the first time, in addition to my usual Tamiya putty, and liked the Mr. Surfacer so much I bought a second jar. For aftermarket, I used the Green Strawberry photo etch set, which led to some fitment issues with the canopy, noth
  5. I've got a couple of the 1/48 Tamiya F-16 C/N Aggressor kits in the stash. PM your address to me, and I'll send the pilots out to you. No charge.
  6. This, so much this. 91% isopropyl alcohol is like a thermonuclear bomb when it comes to removing paint. Plus it's dirt cheap. I use it to clean my airbrush all the time.
  7. Based on what Solher1 and PetrB have been saying I'm not so sure this is common. I did purchase them in 2011 for another build, and have been sitting in my stash since then. Maybe they did shrink? I'll send an email to Aires describing the problem and maybe I'll get a pair of replacements, or I'll just buy a new set. Although, I did use them a few years ago for my 1/72 Su-33 build. The main part was too large as I had to sand down the inside of the engine bays a bit, and the exhaust petals were a little too small. Nothing major though, it was barely noticeable.
  8. More like Eduard + Aires = Rough sex and you don't know the safe word to make it stop. If my build turns out to be half as good as yours Crazy Snap Captain, I'll consider it a good build. If not, I'll be sending Eduard and Aires hate mail until the day I draw my final breath, okay, maybe it won't be that extreme, maybe.
  9. Sprue Brothers has spoiled the hell out of me. I order stuff from them, and it typically arrives the next day. Then again, I live in Kansas City MO, and they're in Liberty MO, so that's probably why. If they carried Akan paints, and Begemot decals, I'd be in hog heaven.
  10. *sigh* Thanks Gents, that was my biggest fear. I'll give the Northstar ones a look for my next build, (Not too happy with the way the Eduard kit has turned out.) I've definitely learned a few lessons with this one.
  11. Sorry if this has been covered before. I searched the forum and google, and couldn't really find an answer. I've been building the Eduard reboxing of Academy's 1/48 Su-27. Since the kit exhaust nozzles look, well bad, I replaced them with a set of Aires nozzles. I noticed that the Aires nozzles seem to be too small. There is a step of about 1 to 1.5mm between the engine area, and the Aires nozzle. Is this normal for these nozzles, or did I just get a bad set?
  12. Not really. Is the figure in one piece, would I have to glue it's arms on? I looked at the PJ Productions pilots, but I'd like something poseable.
  13. Title pretty much says it all. My 1/72 Hase Su-33 could use a pilot. I'm more than willing to pay a few bucks, so PM me and let's talk.
  14. Thanks gentlemen. I was initially leaning towards the Academy kits, but since I've seen a few of the new tooled Revell kits, I've been very impressed by them. I think I'll give their B-17 a closer look. Bigasshammm, that's a great looking B-17. (The Revell kit.) Spruebrother's has it for about the same as the Academy kits.
  15. I'm going to build a 1/72 B-17 for a close friend of mine from high school. He recently bought his first house, and he absolutely loves the B-17, so I think it would make a great housewarming gift for him. The two main kits I've seen are the B-17Fs from Academy, and the B-17Gs from Hasegawa. Which one is the better kit in terms of accuracy, ease of construction, a few pitfalls and things to look out for are acceptable. Thanks for the help.
  16. Going tomorrow, well today. I'm even bringing a date, ok actually it was her idea haha.
  17. Good Luck Aaron! I've lived almost my entire life near Kansas City, there are plenty of good people and opportunities around here. Lots of stuff for families to do too. Plus we're about an hour or so away from Whiteman AFB, so if you're hoping for a good airshow, sometimes they have them there. There's also an airshow at the Downtown Airport every once in a while.
  18. This is an old video (Circa 2007 or 2008 I think.) But man, no matter how many times I see it, it's still amazing.
  19. I had this same problem myself a few months ago. Try this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392 Except when you get to step 7, type this into the command prompt. bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot bootrec /ScanOs bootrec /RebuildBCD Type one command and hit enter, when that command is finished executing move on to the next. When you are all done, type exit, and the command prompt will close, exit out of System Recovery, and your computer will reboot. If you did everything correctly, your operating system will load. If you don't have an install disk, I'm pretty sure you can get to the co
  20. PM Sent on, Afterburner Decals 72-001 Aggressor Eagles (65th Aggressor Squadron 2006 F-15's). Tim
  21. Like what everyone else has said, it's a definite improvement. I do miss the real time inventory counter though, but for me that's not a deal breaker. You guys are still amazingly fast when you ship something, but then again, I live about 40 miles from your location, so that's probably why haha. Tim
